IIRC, it's been offered for $29 last summer. Anyway, just demoed it. With moderate settings can't tell it from the Softube Saturation knob, which is free. Am I missing something?

Oh yeah...forgot about that sale...and I bought it at that price...DERH!

How do you all think this compares with other tape plugins?   For example, Waves, u-he, the IK Multimedia ones, Slate Digital, etc.

I remember this went for sale before (maybe Black Friday?),  but I don't remember the price.  It might even have been less than this.

It's a decent Tape sim, and if you use Studio One, being a Mix FX, is a major BONUS.
So far, my favorite Tape Sim is the IK 24...it can really add some panache.

Last sale it was $49...so this one is $10 cheaper, and the lowest it's been offered
    for...

I have been doing this "calculation" all week via IKM's website....

Put an AXE I/O in your cart, calculate 30% in jampoints (349.99 EUR x 0.3 = 104.99) and redeem that many jampoints in your cart.

The final amount you pay should work out at around 300 EUR (271 GBP inc VAT at present exchange rates) but as of today it won't accept this many jampoints. As I said I have been "testing" this out all week on their website in readiness for purchase and 104.99 jampoints has worked fine every time until now.  I have just tried other values out and it now only accepts 90 jampoints or lower. Guess I will wait to see what happens on Monday but time is running out!

It's also looking like the Labor Day sale that has enabled some of you lucky folk in the US to get an AXE I/O for a lot less than above does not apply in the UK (the closest thing in the UK seems to be Labour Day which was celebrated on 1st May).

That may be due to the price of the Axe I/O dropping to $299.99...that's the price here in the States right now,
but they probably haven't changed the Price in Europe, but are still only allowing for Jampoints for the $299 price...
I'm just speculating...but the math works out...

  5. Neglected to mention, the Pre's are CLEAN,
and the adjustments are nice.  The variable
Z-Tone is BONUS!  Being able to select Active
or Passive pickups is a very nice feature!

Not fond of the Plastic Sides...but they're pretty
    Heavy Duty, so it's ok.

Will play some more later...have to go visit my Brother
in Rehab for a bit...but initial impressions are favorable!

  6. After installing the driver software, the firmware updater stated
that Firmware Version 1.02 was installed and 1.04 was available.
Update was simple.  After that, everything is great!  I'll need a
little more time to make a good evaluation, but initial impressions
just on a few Amps is NICE!

  7. Initial impressions upon opening box...
It's built like a tank!  Will take a bit to
set up and get to use it, and may not get
there until later this afternoon, as I have
to go out in a bit...

LOL... I once met a pro pool player that beat everybody in the room with a broom stick. Imagine what he can do with a pro cue stick. I hear that all the time on how this cheap gadget can do this and that. And in some cases that's true. It doesn't have to be expensive to do the job. Now, Bob was telling me about a problem in my mix that I wasn't able to hear on the existing headphones I was using at that time. I think I'd take the recommendation of a Grammy Award-winning mastering engineer any time. Once, someone told me... can you hear the pin drop in your mix? Now you know why you pay the big bucks... ?

    Like I said...HIGHLY subjective...

Just because someone "endorses" it, doesn't mean that it's right for YOU!
Your ears are NOT his ears, nor will they ever be, but feel free to spend whatever
money you wish...after all, it's YOUR money!
(and maybe you just weren't "listening" for the pin drop!)

  9. I mix almost exclusively in headphones....and I use these
I paid like $70...and the mix translates VERY well everywhere...
and they are METAL construction, and built like a tank,
but, again, Headphones are HIGHLY subjective, as it's a combination
of WHO is listening, and KNOWING your headphones, not necessarily
HOW MUCH you pay for Headphones!  A GREAT Mix Engineer can
take the cheapest pair of headphones and get a GREAT mix out of them!
WHY?  Because he KNOWS what he's doing, and WHAT he is doing it with,
    and makes his decisions accordingly!

Just like Zack Wylde can take a "Hello Kitty" Guitar...and you know the rest.
(and, BTW, I'm NOT a great Mix Engineer by ANY stretch of the imagination!)
