Thanks a lot for listening Steve! Yeah - I was going for a more laid back (funky?) feel for the guitars. I'm certainly not averse to "in your face" though...

Thanks for listening Nigel - oh well, I'll need to try to keep things more succinct

Hi Tom, Thanks a lot for listening - and for your comments. I'm not getting any silence at the beginning here - it starts right in at 0:00 ? I'm probably guilty of going on too long - more often than not ?

Hi, I've got a new song out. It's called "Absolutely Approximate" - you can check it out here: https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14421878 It's got the usual suspects: Superior Drums MODO Bass Those real Strats and the Tele and a few little bits and pieces. All comments are welcome - thanks ? All my stuff is here http://www.soundclick.com/johnbraner. I've also got the new CDs on Bandcamp http://johnbraner.bandcamp.com Don't forget - Download CDs (including my newest ones "Heads" and "Tales") and singles are still available at all the normal streaming services.

Tom Deering - I didn't think to look to you when I was looking for an amp. It's a bit of a nightmare right now, with supply issues etc - so I concentrated on UK builders. Between supply problems and Brexit - I just thought it was easier to keep it all in the UK It's a nice amp, and I have a couple of tube preamps I can use through the FX loop - for some variety

Thanks a lot for listening Fred - I'm glad to hear it works on cheap headphones

Thanks a lot for listening Jack!

Hi Phono - thanks a lot for listening. Interesting comments about the bass - I don't mind if it's "punk", I just like it like that - we're definitely not looking for "authentic" funk ;-)
-
Hi Tim - thanks a lot for listening and for your comments. Well, I always dork around with the drums for a long time ;) I start with MIDI files, but I edit them *a lot* ;)

Hey Tom, Thanks a lot for listening. I got an amp from Vyse Amps - they're a UK builder - it's hand built, 2 channel, 2 x 6V6 12W - perfect for recording ;) I really like MODO, I use the P Bass a lot - that's what this one is. re: the B3, I purposely kept it "barely there" ;) I just thought it was a good idea ;)

Hi, I've got a new song out. It's called "Ifs Ands or Buts" - you can check it out here: https://soundclick.com/share.cfm?id=14360729 This one features the usual suspects, but I have a a real tube amp for the guitars now - although the speaker/cabinet simulation is still software. All my stuff is here http://www.soundclick.com/johnbraner Don't forget - Download CDs (including my newest one "Pull the Other One") and singles are still available at all the normal streaming services. Hi Tom, Thanks for listening - picking nits is OK, it gives us something to think about. I'm not really sure what you mean by "washy" hi hats (don't bother trying to explain because these things are hard to do with only words) but as far as the snare - it seems the more I compress snares, the less I like it. I use some saturation and stuff on them, but I don't really like a lot of reverb either. (my favourite thing on snares right now is the Korneff Audio Pawn Shop Compressor https://korneffaudio.com/product/pawn-shop-comp-2-0/ ) It's just me...

Hi Jesse and David - once again, thanks a lot for taking the time to listen. The new preamp is a Effectrode Blackbird (https://www.effectrode.com/products/effects-pedals/blackbird-vacuum-tube-preamp/ ) and it does sound really nice On hifi speakers, I think the synth bass is a little light, if anything, so it's probably good where it is David - you cannot beat the sound of the Strat/Tele single coils
-
Hi Mark, thanks for listening. I used MODO bass (a Fender P Bass) mostly, and Avenger for a synth bass in the breakdown.
-
Hey thanks a lot Paul! That's MODO bass - i really like it
