@scook - that's very cool, thank you. MIDI routing in CW does seem a little limited - like only one synth per midi track. Guess this can solve that too?

I am a big user of aux tracks, but I also love the "colour follows bus" option. Trouble is, if you set the output on a bunch of tracks to an aux, then output the aux to the bus, the colour of the tracks does not follow the bus, or even the aux track that they are being sent to. What would be really cool, is if the aux track followed the bus, and the tracks that are output to the aux track follow the colour of the aux track, thus inheriting the colour of the bus, if you want it to.

Matrix is cool, step sequencer is cool. I want to be able to load multiple samples into the matrix and use the Step Sequencer to fire the columns for me in a pattern. Is that possible, or is it a feature request?

How many times have you armed a track for recording, hit record, then realised after that you forgot to disarm a track you armed earlier? Ok, it's usually recoverable, but it would be cooler to have an option to disarm previously-armed tracks - or at least warn you if you do the following... Arm a track, hit record. Arm another track, hit record. Chances are, in this scenario, you just forgot to disarm the earlier track - not that you planned to record to one track before, then record the next take to two. Would be great if CWbBL warned you in this scenario. If you arm a bunch of tracks without hitting record in between, you probably meant to do that - no warning.

thanks - yes I can make this work with 2 knobs as you describe. It's not terrible, but ideally, I want one knob for all 5 parameters at once, if this is possible

Despite being a CW user for over 15 years, I have only just discovered FX Chain presets! Just setting up a couple now to simplify my normal spaghetti. For my standard vocal chain, I normally use 2 delays and a reverb. I wanted to create a simple wet/dry knob. Trouble is, with separate Left/Right mix faders on the delays, plus one wet fader on the reverb, that makes 5 parameters I want to control with a single knob..and it seems you can only control 4. Am I missing something, is there a hidden workaround, or is this a feature request?

apologies if someone has already answered this - it's just the maths that's wrong. Reducing from 120 to 100 is 100/120 = 83.333%. Since it's easier in CW with whole numbers, try increasing the track length to125%, then reducing the guitar part by 20% (i.e. down to 80%) to get you exactly back in time

of course, but you might still want Bus FX when exporting racks - the option appears to be there but doesn't work. Recently I need to apply the same EQ and limiting to a whole bunch of songs, so I thought - I'll drop them in cakewalk, put the fx on the bus once, adjust to taste, export all tracks, done. I was scratching my head to figure out why it wasn't working, until I found this thread. Knowing that this is the way it works does help - just copy the effects from the bus to all the tracks right? Except that if you need export them to test your work, you have to do this every time you audition a new version. And at some point you find yourself wondering if you remembered to copy them all, so you do it again just to be sure. So what I thought was an hour's work ended up taking a day a and a half. Even so, this was still better than the idea that you solo the track and export the entire mix.. which is just not practical when you have 30 to do, and have to do this a few times to get it right. So yes, it would be really great to have an option to apply Bus FX to track exports. btw, for the same kind of reasons, I'd really like to see an "Exclusive Solo" option on tracks. A bit like what you get when comping take lanes.

It wouldn't be hard to create an option to tokenise the filename - choose the contents, the order and the separator so you can have them exactly as you want. One connected and equally annoying "feature" is that if you deselect a track during the export (let's say you are re-exporting to fix an issue, but some of the tracks were ok and don't need to be re-exported) Cakewalk re-numbers the tracks, so instead of overwriting the previous version, you get both, with different track numbers - very confusing until I figured out what it was doing. In the unlikely event that I do want the track number (and I can't think that I will, if we have an option to suppress it) I would want it at the beginning of the file name, and to contain the actual track number in the project. A minor gripe in an otherwise great tool!
