I use it a lot and love it! The compression just bring things out and sounds great right away without needing to change much. There are occasional times where it just doesn't fit a vocal track I'm working on but most of the time, it works amazingly well!
Interesting, so you use it at least 70% of the time?

Its still in the Cakewalk vst2 plugs. IIRC you have to "unhide" it; maybe?
Someone will correct/enlighten me.I have it, never used it...
Maybe I should?t

The vocals seem a little low? Looks like you had fun with this. Interesting to watch your couple. Has a good beat and a good vibe. Colorful, moves well
Cheers T happy new year.
Yes the vocal on certain headphones and speaker make you listen to suck you in. Some system that have pre amps boost bass that drop the vocal.

When the love is good - builds a story that's starts pumping in second half with a indie guitar twist.
Ai project to sample my voice in second half and to characters based on myself and lady friend to animate them.

@whoisp it is the machine gun nature of the rolls that got me no drummer can play that precise, even military drummers. Listen to military drummers they play mainly double stroke rolls, but even they exhibit some differences in timing and stroke strength (velocity).
Single stroke rolls are a little different but again exhibit differences in timing and strength (velocity) of their strikes. Drummers all have a power hand, one that is always just a little louder.
But as I said its your choice, I was merely making an observation that put me off of an otherwise well composed and captured song.
Like i said its for learning, i have 2 that are starting to write EDM that have insane drum risers and rolls. You know i am ex military right lol You want to go to the tattoo and watch HM Royal Marines Top Secret Drum Corps .
i know what i am teaching them on addictive drums, that's the main thing, Harry the EDM guy is now cooking. -

Understood why, just letting you know it didn't work for me, but it ain't my tune or mix, consequently my opinion really is irrelevant.
Yes, it was a demonstration of the core drum notation and mapping. Some people say, compared to other instruments, drums can be hard to learn and write for various reason so they stick to basic beats, but never progress much. The curve is very large if you played drums, few things you absolutely NEED learn when playing and or writing drums. I am not a very good drummer but know the theory well from playing all instruments. So you will hear, 4, 8, 16 and 32 on this with basic builds to added rides, spaces and time out with no drums to keep time, its was good for technique and timing . I did spend much tome on the song but more on the drums.

Good song, however the machine-gun drum rolls are a distraction, sometime less is more, drums to busy in the verses, bring back in the verses, push them forward in the chorus. (I used to be a drummer)
yes its a choice in this song, purely for project objective with a student

Great song and cool video! As a newbie to all this YT stuff - @whoisp did you make the video content yourself, or is it stock/royalty free stuff, or did you have a video creator make it for you? I've got so much to learn...
I put all my videos together and edit them fx etc. I use some royalty free clips, depending on my time and if i think its worth it. i dabble with my own video and animation on a few ive done. I just think its good to watch something when listening. I just like messing with all the tech lol

Yes that’s what I like, thanks for explaining.
It can be tricky, any Verb will do it but use EQ to attenuate the "highs" thus making the sound seem more distant as verb adds that space to push further back, sometimes ill give myself plenty of wet room for FX so it will be quite dry on mix, then automation in the wet verb with depth greater than 1 second, and using pre-delay times to establish a sense of distance from the original source but if your sending it into the distance try some delay and sustain.

Big, I like it! the mix sounds great. Instruments and vocals well done. I havent been here in a while so if you shared about court stuff I dont know whats going on, but wish you the best. What reverb are you using on the vocals at the word done where it goes long?, sound great.
At what time is the verb on in video? I normally always use the Cakewalk Verb plugin and if a drag something out on end of a vocal word, i will automate that word it to wack the verb up with a trail sustain and EQ to disappear in distance and maybe trail some delay. Is that what you mean i did on some bits?

The coolest indie song and video I've seen in a long time. Man when the vocal went up an octave I was hooked all the way to the end. Great piano and guitar too. Basically the piano is driving the piece, and I like that.
Is the video private? It doesn't show up in your youtube channel.
NO it on public on YouTube, maybe the cache on the server or something. It copy link on top right hand corner of video but should be in my video list.

Nice harmonies and melodies. Enthusiastic drummer. I like the song but I think the huge arrangement with strings and a lot of reverb is more suitable for a (power) ballad or similar. Your song sounds more like upbeat rock and IMHO craves a different setting, like a rock combo.
Drums intended, its been a year of learning to write drum scores

Things You Do When You're Done (NEW 2025.02.05)

Beautiful acoustic, built in bridge mic or couple freestanding mics, vocal great to.
Only one suggestion and its a big one: 100% learn to program those drums, i would hit he odd crash or ride and some basic fills, maybe something like a double tap on the kick when the progression changes.
Apart from that great tune
