@Light Grenade Only you forget that to get INPUT from the BUS to the AUX track, you have to assign the OUT from the bus to this AUX track, and then what is the use of the created chain? I need an option as with ordinary audio tracks - when the output from the track goes to the master (for example), but you can also add sending to the AUX track, or do you not understand why this is needed? In addition, all the same, buses and tracks are in different sections in the interface, I already answered this to another interlocutor, but you do not understand this either. I need to work comfortably and quickly, and I learned how to work with both hands at the same time, and I can say for sure that if you add group tracks, you can work even faster.
-
@Light Grenade As for the aux tracks on your screenshots - try to send the OUTPUT from any BUS to the INPUT of the created AUX track, you won't succeed, I've already tried it many times. That's why I'm talking about the limitations of working with tires compared to tracks.
-
@Mark MoreThan-Shaw And what did you want to prove with this screen? You have ALL (!!!) tracks closed, and all (!!!) buses closed, but how to work in the editing process when all tracks are open and the entire visible space is occupied by 5-6 tracks, even a little open? And with the tires it is exactly the same - if you open 2-3 tires a little, the whole screen will already be full. And literally every action to scale tracks or open / close the bus section already leads to a slowdown, which I have been talking about all this time. Well, okay, you did not understand my main idea at all, and focused on comparing the location of the tracks and tires.
-
@Mark MoreThan-Shaw Apparently, due to the mechanical translator, you do not understand what I am saying. I have already repeated several times that the bus is really similar (!!!) to a track, but this is not the same thing, and gave a specific limitation of the impossibility of sending the output from the bus to the aux track, and besides, I will repeat once again: group the track would be much more convenient to be in the location of tracks, and not buses, because you still have to open another window with buses. In the aggregate of actions, the group track would be much more convenient and much faster in creating and routing, you simply cannot understand this, because you have not tried Cubase, and you cannot compare in this video. And yes, I consider Cakewalk to be one of the best DAWs of all time, but if you add a few practical features to it, it can become the very best! That is why I am trying to offer practical tools.
-
@Mark MoreThan-Shaw Are you trying to dissuade me? I mean by one click the last action, after selecting several tracks, and these actions have to be done in Cakewalk too. But in Cakewalk, after sending the selected tracks to the bus, you still need to perform several actions to select and route the outputs from these tracks, and in Cubase this has already been done when you click "OK" after assigning to a group track. But I'm not only talking about the number of clicks, but also about the advantages of an audio (group) track over a bus in terms of routing and location, or do you not understand this? I will repeat once again: after ALL (!!!) 2 or 3 preliminary actions in Cakewalk, already AFTER adding to the bus, you still need to do a few more steps to route the outputs from the selected tracks, and in Cubase this is ALREADY implemented at the moment of pressing "OK".
-
@Mark MoreThan-Shaw Yes, this video shows exactly what I mean. I do not work in Cubase because for me Sonar (today's Cakewalk) has always been and will remain the best DAW. I started working with old versions of Cakewalk Pro Audio (4; 5 etc.), but then I had to work in a musical group where was Cubase v4.2 many years ago. And it was then that I ran into the problem of the dongle, because of which the licensed (!!!) Cubase did not work as it should. And after that, I got acquainted with Sonar 3, and I never even thought and did not think to change DAW! As for the convenience and speed of work, you did not pay attention to the fact that in Cubase, when creating a Group track, the final track itself is created with one click, and all routing of outputs from the designated tracks is automatically organized, that is, LITERALLY EVERYTHING is done in 1 click, more no further action is required. In addition, if we talk about the bus, then I cannot create an aux track and send the output from the bus to it, and this is a very important function, this is the first limitation. Well, I repeat again - it is much more convenient to have group tracks in the same space as regular tracks, from any point of view it is both clearer and more convenient. But it would be possible to send outputs from several group tracks (as well as from individual tracks) to the buses, in my opinion, this configuration is much more versatile and convenient.
-
@Mark MoreThan-Shaw As I already said, in Cubase, you can assign routing of several tracks to the "Group" track with one click, and the outputs from these tracks are directed to this one track. I repeat - all this with one click! Yes, you can create buses, as it works now, but the buses are in a different section and have their own characteristics, but through the patch point it takes longer and not everyone will do it right. Folders - are not at all what I was talking about, it's just a visual organization of tracks, and I meant routing, and the Cubase example is the most illustrative.
-
Hi! I wanted to propose an option: create a "Group track" similar to other DAWs, eg. - Cubase. Currently you can create groups only through "Point Patch - AUX track" or creating new BUS, it is no problem, but it would be much more convenient and faster to have a direct option to specifically create a Group TRACK with all the requirements and routing available in audio track. Thanks in advance!

@stj Try to apply "bounce to clip" to the modified clip, this operation is equivalent to rendering, and almost everything is exported as expected.

@dave coomber In the case when you already have Keywok installed, and some other folder for installing plugins was initially selected, all subsequent installations (updates) will be performed along the same path, therefore this option for selecting a new folder is not active. Regarding the option of adding other folders with plugins, this is for plugins that either do not have an installer as such (portable), or are installed in other folders, but still on the system disk. Regarding the system disk (SSD) - at present, 128 GB is very small, I have 250 GB (NVME), but I plan to change it to 500 GB, because I was convinced in practice that there should be more free space on the system disk for easy and fast work programs, this is a prerequisite originally laid down by the Microsoft system. Regarding plugins, I can't advise you anything, only you yourself can determine what you really need. But I personally, from all the additional content to Sonar, install only a few resonance libraries for BReverb, and a couple of sets of plugins for the built-in ProChannel, all other proprietary plugins and tools have become outdated for a long time. Now on the market there are thousands of modern and much more functional and effective plugins, I have spent the last 4-5 years for practical comparison and selection of necessary and useful plugins, which I almost completely replaced the former plugins for Sonar.
-
@dave coomber Hey! In my opinion, your first mistake is to place plug-ins in some kind of personal folder NOT on the system disk, where it should be located for reasons of the correct functioning of all elements of the Cakewalk system in Windows. This is probably why, after installing new versions, plugins from Sonitus and some other elements were not found for you, since Cakewalk searches for them in the default folder on the system disk. If you accept the advice, try uninstalling ALL products from Cakewalk, delete all folders on the system drive, clean up all traces in the registry, and reinstall the latest version 27.11.0.018 weighing 549 MB. And it is highly recommended NOT to change the location of any folders, in order to avoid possible failures, it is better to then copy the plugins you are used to from your personal folder to this system folder in compliance with the internal structure. Attempts to change the structure of SYSTEM folders in Windows have never been successful. As for the MSVCR120.dll file, I can only assume that this is some kind of system file from (for) some other program that is also related to music, and why it gets corrupted - you should find out on the Internet. Try to reconsider your alternative - don't choose "either clean system OR Cakewalk", you must try to make Cakewalk work properly in a clean system. And for this you do not need to "reinvent the bicycle". Otherwise, you better stay on Sonar X1, since the great new features in the latest versions of Cakewalk are not important to you.

@Gregers Larsen If you do not want to use it, you can unpin any open window by grabbing it with the left mouse button at the bottom of the DOCK on the field with the name of the plugin or window, and dragging it from this area above. This window will float and free to move and resize. I tried to use the DOCK, but then gave up in favor of free opening or closing the windows or plugins I needed. It is enough to perform this action once for each specific window, later the windows will open already unpinned. If you wish, you can again dock any window in the DOCK by dragging it by the top frame to the bottom of the Cakewalk interface.

@Asato Maa Vertical and horizontal ZOOM is already assigned by default to the keyboard shortcut: CTRL + up/down or left/right arrows. In addition, if you select several tracks, then holding down the CTRL key, you can do the same vertical ZOOM only on these selected tracks.

@Andres Medina Thank you so much Andres! Almost nothing is visible on your screen, but I guessed what it was about, activated this icon, and everything was decided by itself! Thank you a thousand more times!

Hey! I am working on the latest version of Cakewalk build .018, and now I found out that in Native Instruments "Replica" (delay) it is impossible to save a preset in the standard "save as" way. The problem is that it is absolutely impossible to enter the name of the preset in the appropriate field, when you press any keys on the keyboard, commands are triggered in the main interface of Cakewalk. It is also impossible to paste the copied text into this window. It possible only save "preset VST2" from upper menu of plugin. Does anyone else have this? I work in Windows 8.1 Pro x64 (official spanish), version of NI "Replica" - 1.3.2 (R50).

@Craig Reeves I have been using this program almost since its inception, and I can say the exact opposite of what you described. It has always been very stable and reliable, there were 2-3 times in older versions when the plug-in scanner stumbled and even caused the program to close, but those times are long gone and never happened again. Since the days of Sonar X, this is one of the most stable and hardy programs, look for problems in your system, most often - these are conflicts between some plugins, tested and proven thousands of times.
-
@the arlicht You can drag the clip from freezed track to the next empty audio track, and it becomes an audio clip, not linked to VST Instrument. After you can delete the original tracks, and the original VST Instrument itself, the audio material will remain intact.

@msmcleod Great, thanks a lot for the clarification! I just thought it was an even more recent version, I tried to download it.
-
@Jonathan Sasor Hi! I have version 27.09.0.145 installed, but it is a build that came out a few days ago. Cakewalk won't let me download (doesn't show it) the latest 04.10 update, is there any other way to download it?
-
Yes, i know, but i use Kontakt 6.6.1, and I was talking about making the already existing option of selecting a specific number of "Instrument track per output" (screen N1), also for "Synth audio tracks per output" (screen N2), and that it works for any VST instruments.
-
Hi! I have been using Cakewalk DAWs for many years, and have long dreamed - in the process of adding VST Instrument, to be able to select the exact number of audio output channels from VST Instr. It would be great to have the same option, which is already there - "Instrument track per output", but something like "Audio tracks per output" with the option to choose the number of channels. For now this option is available only for "Instrument track ..." At the moment I am condemned to select the option "All synth audio outputs", to have automatic routing of VSTI multi-output, and then eliminate the excess channels. For example, Kontakt creates 64 (!!!) audio tracks, of which 10 to 15 remain. This option could save a lot of time to do a simple operation of adding VST instruments, many users would be really happy I think!
-
Yes, I still do that, but it would be very nice to be able to save group settings "by default", I think.
-
Hi! In each project, every time you have to re-configure the options for displaying meters in three places - in the general window, in the mixing console and in the "inspector". This is rather long and inconvenient, is it possible to add a section to the "general settings" of the Cakewalk where you can select these options in advance for all future new projects? Thanks in advance!

I'm talking about AUDIO tracks, I'm not interested in "Instrument Track", this format has some restrictions, compared to Audio track. -
[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2021.06 Early Access [Updated to build 41]
IgoRr replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
Hi! When I add NI Kontakt, if track format is "Instrument Track per Output", I can select number of channels to create, but if "First (All) Synth Audio Output" format is selected, there is no option to select number of channels. The question: can these settings be modified, so that it is possible to create a necessary number of AUDIO channels when adding Kontakt? Many Cakewalk users would be very happy with this option! Thanks in advance!
