I have some custom shortcuts to forward and backward a measure, for example: PgDn and PgUp: They always work in Track View and Piano Roll View simultaneously. However, after this last update, these shortcuts have stopped working in PRV. Also, I can't dock PRV window in MultiDock anymore. What is wrong?

Wow, now I'm puzzled. So I have, for example, a 24-bit VST Piano, I record a midi track with it, I export as 24bit WAV, but internally CbB is reducing it to 16 bits in the middle of this whole process? So all this time I've been generating fake 24-bit tracks (actually 16 bits internally)?
-
Thanks @scook. Just to clarify, "Record Bit Depth" refers only to external audio recording, not recordings using VST, correct?
-
My projects are always 48 Khz 24 bits and to be honest I never realized if there was a shortcut to setting this up. However, CbB is showing 16 bits instead. What's wrong?

Hi, The realism you will get using virtual instruments will depend on many variables: Quality / Price of VST library. There are zillions of libraries, so you should research the best and which ones fit your budget. Ease of use vs. flexibility: Many VST libraries allow you to create realistic sounds with little work, however, they do not allow you flexibilities in different variations; there are other very flexible libraries that are more difficult to use at the same time. Practice: After experimenting with various options, everything will depend on your experience in creating musical works. Humanization is the most important factor after all. There are many tutorials on how to humanize works with VST.

[SOLVED] How to disable "Search entire PC" on "Clean Audio Folder"
Rogério replied to Rogério's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks, Noel, but as you can see in the first post, if I have leave C:\Cakewalk Projects\Audio Data as default audio folder, I can't turn off the option "Search entire PC". My projects are in a second drive and I have more than 1 million files in the entire PC, so definitively it doesn't clean in seconds, but in a dozen minutes... -

[SOLVED] How to disable "Search entire PC" on "Clean Audio Folder"
Rogério replied to Rogério's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
This will clean audio files inside the project, not inside the C:\Cakewalk Projects\Audio Data folder, which is currently the default... -
I have all my project on a single folder structure on a specific hard drive. The audio folder is set to the default (C:\Cakewalk Projects\Audio Data). When trying to clean the audio folden, I can't turn off the option "Search entire PC": In the documentation (http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=0x200E7) it says: "Note: If Project/Audio Folder is set to the global audio folder, Cakewalk will automatically enable Search Entire PC." How can I keep that current audio folder path and search just for my current Cakewalk project folder?

Perfect. Thank you very much!

Currently, the keyboard shortcut "S" splits the selected clip at the NOW time. Is there a way to split a clip at the time selected range? For example, as the image below, if I press "S", CbB will split the clip at bar 17. But I'd like it to create TWO splits between the time selected range, ie, bars 19 and 21.

There are no mute notes. Also, I never changed the default CbB theme. Is the default. I've attached a video with a blank project to show this issue. r.mp4

This seems to be introduced in the lastest CbB versions: Inside Piano Roll View, every track has a different color. The note velocities might show the same color. However, is being the opposite, ie, when a note is selected, the velocity shows unselected and vice-versa: How to fix this?

Thank you very much for your reply! I didn't know about this, but now, when the problem happens again I'll follow these steps. ?

I have been using Cakewalk for over 20 years, and one thing that I feel has never changed is the inability to save the project when there is an application freeze. In fact, in some (few) cases, CbB can display a window warning that a crash has occurred and will save the current state of the project before closing. But this is very rare. The most common is CbB freezing and NOT ALLOWING TO SAVE THE CURRENT PROJECT STATUS. I know this is a complex matter and it usually has to do with the plugins that are currently being used and that CbB is not to blame for that, but ultimately it is CbB that freezes and the main problem is: everything that was done (before the rescue) is lost. Knowing this old problem, I scheduled automatic backups every 10 minutes and always have the habit of making a manual save during work (always keeping 4 temporary copies), and every time there is a freeze, I lose a maximum of 10 minutes of work. Even so, sometimes within 10 minutes, a lot is lost, especially when talking about MIDI. So I beg the bakers to improve this process, at least trying to save the project somehow when a freeze is detected. I know this is technically possible.

@Noel Borthwick, one day, when focusing on improving CbB for videos, take the time to fix the problem of start time randomness, that is, every time you play and stop a video, it never goes back to the same frame, always varying a few frames, for more or less. It's happening with AVI, MP4 and possibly with any video format.

As you can see on the image below, when there is a docked synth rack view with many items, if you use the mouse wheel to scroll, it actually doesn't scroll, what should be a standard behavior, like all the other windows inside CbB:

No. But once all current settings are saved within the project, this setting should be saved too.
-
When inserting a new video on a project, it automatically opens the Video Strip: To hide it, we press 'V'. But when saving and reopening the project, this Video Strip reappears opened. It should be closed as when the project was saved.

Thanks for your attention, Noel. I'm speaking as a layman, but Adobe Premiere, for example, treats all input video formats transparently, that is, it does not cause any playback delay due to the original video format. I don't know what "magic" they do, but the fact is that for the user this question should be transparent. I know CbB is not a video editor, but here is my suggestion to make CbB friendlier for those who work with video-based music composition.

Please, any considerations about this topic?
-
This is a very old question, but apparently so far has not been resolved. I work a lot with creating video-based soundtracks. Videos are always in MP4. Since there are multiple music styles within the same video, I create different projects for each music style, but always using the same video. The problem is that the more Trim-in time is getting ahead, is slower is the playback. I there any way to stop this slowness when playing back an MP4 with high Trim-In time?

I just discovered that using the wheel mouse over this slider, it slides +12 or -12. ?
-
If I want to transpose a MIDI instrument for octaves, I use the Key+ slider. But it's very difficult to hit the exact +12 or -12. At the same time, I can't insert this value manually. How to facilitate this?
