  1. Well, according to the new FAQ on cakewalk.com the free version will continue to be free and wont be removed it seems. So that is a plus! The bad news is that sub price. At that price you may as well just get Bitwig if you don't mind that much per year. You would get way more value that way. Otherwise the most affordable option and the greatest value is Reaper. No sub required and you are covered for 2 versions of the software.

Reaper users are like lynx users....or People's Temple converts.

Come on and drink the kool aid! ?

LOL! This is what people on other forums may be like. But after my disappointment with Sonar then finding a video of a cool layout of Reaper, I decided to check it out. I was impressed by how much more it can do than all versions of Cakewalk. Both in theme customization and functionality customization. And at $60 it was an easy decision.

What subscription scheme are you referring to? To my knowledge, Cakewalk have announced neither a subscription model nor a perpetual model for Sonar licensing.

They currently have something where you get access to a pre-release version of it with a BandLab membership. But it's only a pre-release, not the actual shipping version.

    Did I miss something?

You missed a whole thread LOL!

So you're saying that reaper sounds better than reason? By how much? 20-40%?

Funny thing is I knew someone would make the joke about Reason when I typed "reason". ?

I had Reason 11 Suite for years now and only use it as a plug-in for the Rack Extensions and it works just fine in Reaper so it has no reason (pun intended) to be mentioned in my original post unless your reason is different to my reason. But I don't see the reason in that. ?
