Add 500 extra arpeggiator patterns to Cakewalk
scook replied to Starship Krupa's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Make sure the folder is not compressed it contains the files with the ARP extension and not the PTN extension -
Yes, those are the instructions I linked above. Apparently, the OP is using Steam-delivered products. It may not matter, but the products sold through Steam were subtly different. Very few of the old Cakewalk staff were hired by BandLab and Seth Kellog was not one. Steam users really should mention they need help with Steam delivered products when posting on this forum or communicating with support.

I have never bothered with the manual activation process, but I just reviewed the documentation that i linked about the process and it does not refer to the stand-alone synth or BandLab Assistant, so I am not sure what steps were taken. I have always used the Cakewalk Command Center for installation and activation of Cakewalk products with CCC aware installers, like z3ta+2. If you cannot get CCC or the manual process documented in the link above to work contain support@cakewalk.com
-
The later z3ta+2 installers are Cakewalk Command Center aware. The best way to activate z3ta+2 is install using the CCC. The plug-in is automatically activated at the end of the install process by CCC. The manual activation process is documented here https://www.cakewalk.com/Support/Knowledge-Base/2007013384/Offline-Activation

No sound in music player while using apollo card with Cakewalk
scook replied to Riccoboni's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
The feature you are looking for is Suspend Audio Engine When Cakewalk Is Not in Focus in CbB Preferences > Audio > Playback and Recording. That said, VLC like most Windows audio and video playback programs does not need to use ASIO so, suspending the audio engine in CbB should not be necessary. Most Windows audio and video playback programs work fine using the regular Windows drivers. -
Looking for Cakewalk mono delay/echo plugin
scook replied to KennyP's topic in Instruments & Effects
If you never owned a product containing the plug-in, there is no legitimate way to acquire it today. The Company that could license the software to you was shut down in 2017. -
Yes, it's really that simple BUT there are some programs that rely on physical locations so they will fail when encountering a junction. How they fail depends on the program. Wholesale relocations as described in in not a great idea. It is likely, there will be at least one program or installer that will break using this method. If you really want to install CbB in a non-default location, start with a clean install and specify where to install the program. After that, then relocate bits as needed using directory junctions. Of course, I have never and would never recommend what you are trying to do instead suggest looking elsewhere to free up space so that the DAW may be installed with a minimum of customization.
-
Updates typically do not delete folders so anything in the plug-in layout folder before the update will be there after the update. The only chance for data loss when updating is if the update contains a file the user has modified. The user modifications will be lost when the file is overwritten. In the example, the user layout name used is not something that will likely be part of an update.
-
There is only one physical location where the data is stored. All reads and writes happen at the physical location. When a program tries to access the directory junction, the OS uses the physical location referenced by the directory junction. There is no chance for duplication because there is only one physical location maintained by the OS. BUT don take my word for it. Experiment...create a small directory tree and play around with it. Understanding how directory junctions and mklink work are really useful skills.

Looking for Cakewalk mono delay/echo plugin
scook replied to KennyP's topic in Instruments & Effects
If you created a single sign-on account on the old Cakewalk website between 2014-2017 Pull the X2 installers from your old cakewalk account https://www.cakewalk.com/My-Account/Products Run an advanced install of X2, select the plug-ins to install. If you decide to install all of X2, make sure to update X2 to X2a and uninstall/reinstall CbB after the X2/2a install. Keep in mind, the CW Reverb mono is not part of the standard 64bit install. Based on this, my guess is the plug-in 32bit DX format so requires a 32bit DAW. IOW, the plug-in will not work in CbB. If you need help with password reset on the old account, contact support@cakewalk.com -
The metronome has not changed in years.
-
Unless something overwrites the entries, directory junctions are setup once.
-
Manually relocated parts of the DAW will break things unless you have a very good understanding of how the DAW works or are willing to spend a fair amount of time learning how the app, OS and registry all work together.
-
I rely on the fact that updates do not overwrite custom folder locations. Updating custom locations creates the possibility of losing data due to file name clashes. Today, in order to relocate parts of the DAW and have the installer update the new locations. learn how to use mklink and create directory junctions to relocate data. For example, if I wanted to move "C:\Cakewalk Content" to the D drive using I directory direction the steps are: Using Windows Explorer move "C:\Cakewalk Content" to "D:" Open a command window as administrator and type mklink /j "C:\Cakewalk Content" "D:\Cakewalk Content"

Usually when the audio drop downs are empty - holding down the SHIFT key while starting the DAW will give the user an option to restore the files missing from the user directory including the metronome wav files. By default, all project templates bundled with the DAW include a metronome bus.

Cakewalk project Crashing After using Matrix view
scook replied to schnit's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
The grooveplayer is the metronome plug-in. It is loaded in every project. Here is some information on how to report a crash -
Since the addition of "Enable MIDI Input/Output" options in the VST standard plug-in header, changing FX to synths using "Configure as synth" is no longer necessary. There is a section of the registry created by the VST scanner containing information about the VST plug-ins. One property stored in this part of the registry is whether or not the plug-in is a synth. Plug-ins identified as a synth are listed in the synth plug-in layouts automatically have "Enable MIDI Input" turned on Effects plug-ins are listed in the effects layout and default to disable MIDI input. Prior to having MIDI I/O on the VST standard plug-in header (added in SONAT X3), configuring effects as synths in the plug-in properties was the only way, without hacking the registry to send MIDI data to effects.

If you are not receiving any dump files in %AppData%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core\Minidumps try temporarily setting ExceptionHandlingSeverity to 7 in Preferences > File > Initialization File. This may force a dump. May also want to re-install the MS redistributable libraries

Is There Any Way To Use Old Cakewalk .ax Plugins?
scook replied to david40's topic in Instruments & Effects
The plug-in is not a VST format so it will be ignored by the plug-in scanner. CbB can load the 64bit DX plug-ins with an ax extension. At least the ones installed with 64bit versions of SONAR. IIRC, FX Chorus is not one of them. Cakewalk did not port all the 32bit DX plug-in bundled with their products to 64bit. DX format is host bitness specific. 32bit DX plug-ins require a 32bit host. 64bit DX plug-ins require a 64bit host. There is no 32-to-64bit bridge software for DX plug-ins. It may be possible to wrap 32bit DX plug-ins with a VST shell and load the wrapped plug-in using BitBridge or jBridge but that's not a great idea. Best look for a 64bit replacement. If possible one that also has a 32bit version (some manufacturers have stopped 32bit development entirely). This along with a 32bit version of SONAR will help the transition to 64bit for existing projects referencing 32bit DX plug-ins. -
May want to provide a few more details: OS version Cakewalk by BandLab version Helix driver version Assuming ASIO driver mode - what other devices are displayed in CbB Preferences > Audio > Devices If fact, in addition to the above details, it might be useful to post images of CbB Preferences > Audio Devices Driver Settings Playback and Recording

G2 or more importantly whatever the MIDI note value is may be out of range for the plug-in. For example, SI-Bass uses note 34 (by default Bb2) as the lowest playable value. This may be extended by modifying the sfz files for the plug-in,
-
There are several ways. Here is one Using the Velocity MFX is another way.
-
It is up to the plug-in manufacturer. Some plug-in manufacturers intentionally design their plug-ins to be drop-in replacements for previous versions. This results the most recent plug-in to be added to the DAW plug-in list and older versions are ignored. Others design their plug-ins to be unique and not replace previous versions. In this case, unique versions are available for use in the DAW. Often manufacturers use a mixed approach allowing them to tailor the behavior based on the release.

Edits cannot be copied between clips but setting up clip selection groups in advance of editing may work in this case. Track automation may be copied between tracks. A solution may be lurking there too.
