My next door neighbor had his back account emptied the other day by card cloners. The bank said that since the troubles in the East, these attacks have increased. They need to fill their war chests with something, why not VSTs?

But she's Taylor Swift. She's a top feeder. ? How many people on this board can hand on heart say they make real money on streaming platforms such as Spotify? Their business model is completely un-transparent.
-
Absolutely agree on that. SoundCloud seem to actively sabotage tracks on upload. I'm not really disagreeing with you on anything. I'm just feeling overwhelmed at the moment. I probably shouldn't be near a computer. No offense meant to anyone.

This is only true of Bandcamp. Artist don't see 90% of sales on other platforms such as iTunes (Apple music). All of these services are great for the consumer because they keep the costs low for them and you have a massive pool to choose from. That benefit doesn't seem so balanced in the artists favour though.

This is soooo true. I think when I started putting stuff out on streaming platforms like Spotify and iTunes the payments were higher. I might have seen a few bucks here and there. Nowdays it's just a loss making venture for me. And it's so un-transparent. The artist really has no idea if the stats are true or false. To give you an idea. I've got music being played by DJs now. I'm 'apparently' in the top 5 on one playlist. If I look at my Spotify stats I haven't had a single listen for a month. Despite all the gesturing and bragging on line, I would wager that most artists are not even getting gas money from streaming platforms, and I don't know how honest those services are being. If anything, I think it's reverting back to how the old radio playlists used to work. Back when I had my music on 'real' radio, I signed up with the PRS in the UK to collect. I remember having to contact radio stations myself and get copies of their playlists to send to the PRS to prove that my music had been A-listed to national radio to get paid what I was owed. There was a time when radio stations published their playlists online. When they stopped doing that the onus fell on the artists to track them down, and if you didn't have a manager or a team doing it for you.... Good bye money. I feel the streaming platforms lack of transparency is leading to the top earners earning ever more and the bottom feeders losing out. Bandcamp on the other hand has always been good to the artists in that respect. Better than most labels (and I'm speaking as an artist who was once signed to a label), when someone buys an album, the artist gets the lion share. That would have been unheard of with the old label system where the artist usually started off in debt to the label. I hope Bandcamp stay true to their initial mission statement and it doesn't transform into another content library for streaming platforms or video games in the style of Epidemic Sounds. That would be the death of Bandcamp as it is now. And on a final note, you know those people who preach that the internet is a utopia in which the artist can finally be free and make money from their work? I'd like to stamp on their family jewels. The internet hasn't freed anyone. It's just redefined the prison boundaries.

I turned off the Nvidia drivers, but same issues. However, I got the audio working in the end without drop outs. I can use the onboard audio drivers if they are 'shared' and not 'exclusive'. I don't know why that works, but it does. Thanks for all your help.

Here are the results from Latencymon It appears that my system is suitable, yet I'm having issues trying to run CbB using the laptop's inbuilt audio. Even an empty project. I can get stability when using a USB external sound device. : CONCLUSION _________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Your system appears to be suitable for handling real-time audio and other tasks without dropouts. LatencyMon has been analyzing your system for 0:02:14 (h:mm:ss) on all processors. _________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I've just got a used Dell XPS i7 16gb running Windows 11. I was expecting it to handle CbB with ease, only to find to my horror that it can't even run an empty project without audio dropping out. ? I'm going through all the online hints and tips to try and resolve this problem. Has any gone through anything similar with Dell XPS 15 touch 9570? Could anyone offer some help? ?

I haven't looked into the pricing yet. Isn't there a free limited functions version that he can try out? I want to see him actually using it before.
-
My son wants to get FL studio because he sees lots of gamers using it. I've been trying to steer him towards CbB and other programs, but he wants only what they geek-kids use. I'm gonna have to buckle soon.

SoundCloud? What's that? Is it like MySpace?

Big thank you to everyone who took the time to listen. Amazingly I found an old backup of the original Sonar session. I need to substitute some of the effects and VSTs but I've got it back to more or less the same sound. However, the earlier track was a radio unfriendly 6 minutes long ? so I'm gonna make a long play version and put it up here soon. In an age of 30 second Tic Tonk musicians, I'm gonna go long play ?

Have you ever heard of a label called Twisted Nerve? It was started by Badly Drawn Boy and Andy Votel to release BDB's music, but along the way they picked up a roster of acts such as Dakota Oak, Alfie and Misty Dixon (mainly their mates). They put out a lot of compilations with instrumentals (heavily inspired by the sound of French new wave music), and this track would not have been out of place on one of those compilations. Great job - with all it's quirky glory

Really liked that guitar playing at the beginning. I don't think it's what you're going for, but the song writing reminds me a lot of 90s British indie bands such as Midway Still (who I've just googled and found are still going strong) - they had a heavier sound, but the sentiment is similar. It's that slightly off beat Kinks feel, I guess. Good job
-
Absolutely - we had one of those shops in our town and you nailed the sound. Where did the nature sounds come from? Did you source them yourself or were they library recordings? I ask because I do a lot of field recordings or mountain waterfalls and streams and seascapes, and I have a collection of sounds that you may find interesting for projects such as these.

This is an old track that I'm thinking of rereleasing. I no longer have the project files thanks to a hard drive incident, so I can only work on the master. I've tried to clean it up a bit, eq it, give it a bit of a vintage feel, but what you hear is what you get. It's meant to be quite full on intense - think early Swervedriver or Dinosaur Jnr All feedback appreciated.

Hi Wookie, No I didn't let SoundCloud master it..as far as I know. ? To be honest, I've kind of abandoned SoundCloud. I only put it up there for the peeps on here. I prefer to listen on Bandcamp. Here's the link if you like: https://53mph.bandcamp.com/album/disappearing-man

This acquisition might have something to do with Accusonus' royalty free music content service too. Sidestepping the major content providers for music on Facebook and Instagram videos, perhaps?

I second that. I've got the latest Acoustica Standard 7 which comes with some fantastic tools for cleaning audio. And the loading time is simply amazing. Anyone who remembers using (and loving) Cool Edit Pro, will adore this. -
