  2. Hey Gary - I love this song by Casting Crowns!

the piano sounds really great on this!

the vocals, don't do it for me, tho.  they're not all "together" sync'd and they're louder than the piano and other instruments.  too much reverb on them, too.  don't hide your vocals behind verb and multiple tracks.  they will sound great on their one!  I'd suggest going back down to one track, you could comp different parts if no one track is good all the way through.  I'd love to hear some harmonies, too.  you could do harmonies with yourself if you don't have someone else to help.

    great job!  thanks for sharing!

  3. Hi Adam

I like so much about this!  love the intro!  love the vocals!  love the piano!  love the choir even though it's keyboard sounds - very nicely done.  LOVE the bells!

    love the echo vox too!

some crits:  the horns sound like keyboard horns and lack "realness"

the Meinel Shekere (?) was a little too loud in the right channel.  it was louder than the other percussion and other instruments.

great message, too!  love the song!  great job!

  6. Appreciate the great comments guys!  can you believe we've been together for over 4 years now?  we've released 3 CDs and this material is candidate for our 4th!

  7. I just bought a new computer (yay power, boo price!)

and I've installed CbB, but of course all of my settings are not transferred.  I want the control bar to ALWAYS appear on the BOTTOM of the screen, not the top!  how do I get it to persist there?

Nice tune! I thought the lead vocal could have a bit more midrange added back to it, it's kind of eq;d on the bright side and sounds a bit thin maybe in spots. The bgv's really are a good add, they blend well and support the lead.

At :54 your panned rhythm guitar strums are not in sync? I dunno, might be worth a check.

Good luck with getting this one more air time, that would be very cool!

    cheers,

    Tom

Hey Tom!  so glad you brought your suggestions to the table!  always a pleasure hearing your perspective!  thanks!

and a shout out to Danny as well from me!  so glad you joined in the band of merry listeners!  thanks for your comments and suggestions, as Mike said always a pleasure to hear from you!

thanks also to David, Wookiee, Tim and Douglas.  this was a pleasure to help Mike on this song bring it to it's current glory!

agreed, it may drag a tad, but that brings it a character of it's own as well

    thanks again everyone!

  9. Thanks everyone for the great comments!  Like Mike said, we've been kinda slow lately ever since our last CD came out.  this song, IIRC has been "in work" since November of 2019!

we have some more "in the pipe" as well, stay tuned and thanks again for the great comments and suggestions!

Same impression here as above. Lyrics could be compressed a bit for clarity (though not much) and the tempo could be picked up a few. Or make some cuts in the ending which is somewhat repetitive as is.
Vocal is very good and guitar is excellent.

Thanks Bjorn!  I have uploaded a new mix version with the vox EQ'd and raised some to break through the guitars.  I appreciate the comments on the tempo, but I don't plan to change the tempo at this time.  maybe at a later date.  thanks for the vocal and guitar compliments!!!

I liked this but it seems to be missing something I can't quite put a finger on. In a word "energy". That's about the closest I can come to explaining it.

It almost sounds like a bored group to me. I'm sorry just being totally transparent here. Sing this like you really mean it! Add some fire to the recipe :)

Open a can of whoopass on it.

Thanks Tim!  I appreciate the listen and the comments!  you can be as truthful and transparent with me as you want!

I enjoyed the listen - I agree with some of the other guys about the tempo - it seemed to drag a bit. Cool lead vocal. Tasty guitar solo.

No crits on the mix - it sounded fine to me.

    Thanks for posting.

Thanks Doug!  I appreciate the listen and the great comments!  I might increase the tempo at a later date, but I don't plan to re-work for tempo at this time.  I do appreciate the comments on it, tho and it seems to be a consensus to up the tempo next time I work this.  thanks!

Hi Beags me old mate. Do you guys play live as I bet you'd be great to see?

I liked this but it seemed to drag a little tempo-wise. It could do with speeding up a few bpm. Only my humble opinion - you know I love you and am coming from the right place.

thanks Daryk!  we would love to be able to play live together, but alas one of us lives in California and the other two in Texas.  Mike and I have played live together and we did play some of these songs, but it would be so much better if we all 3 could!

I hear you on the tempo and of course everything you say in critique is taken in love because you're the love monkey!  :D

I'll consider upping the tempo, but that might be for a much later version - that would take a lot of rework.  thanks so much for the listen and comments mate!

As a Christian myself... I got this one.

I would suggest a little compression on the vocal as I cant always pick out what the lyrics are.
I think its when you go into the lower octave.
The guitars are quite powerful and maybe come down a little and the backing vocals out to the sides a little more would leave space for the main vocal.

    Once again ... well done.
I always state this...  but we all paint very different pictures...  these are just my personal views and what I would have done and in no way is it meant to diminish the work you have done here.

I am listening on  Focal TRIO6 BE

Thanks, Gary!  I plan to work on the mix some based on your suggestion here to get the vocals to pop out over the guitars.

    appreciate it!

  13. oh boy!  this is a really nice song, Paul.  the lyrics are very sad, though.

this may be an odd comment to you, but the lead guitar playing seems opposing to the lyrics.  it seems "happier" than the words it is complementing.

    just my 2 cents.
