The level shown in the meter (well, and the sound too, but the issue is I thought it shouldn't impact the meter level.)

I'm tracking. After recording a vocal, I disengage the "record" function and playback the track. Have it set (as in the image) to show levels pre-fader. But when I move the fader it affects the level, thus impacting my view of how how the raw track actually is. What am I not understanding here?

When I export a track, both the gain and volume settings affect the exported wav file level. My recording engineer buddy says in ProTools the volume doesn't affect the export. Is this just a difference in DAWs or the way I've got my SPLAT set?

As you (hopefully) can see in the attached image, on one song I have volume, gain, pan controls, but on the other they're missing. These are older songs so I have no idea how I created either one. Where are the settings for what shows up in this area, whatever it's called? Thx!

Hmm... semi-solved. This time, I turned off my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 interface and then turned it back on. It's all fine. So clearly it's an interface issue. Will have to see if it becomes frequent. Then contact Focusrite.

Bizarre. I open a project. Playback. All tracks are at least 1/2 higher. And, every track has weird pops - kind of like a morse code sound. When I tried to export it for you guys to hear, the track exports fine. Happening across all projects. Happened the other day but cured upon reboot. Not this time. Attaching a short comp mp3. ???? In the image, a vocal section recorded too hot results in distortion. The 2nd take, backing off, appears to not indicate distortion (in the waveform.) IF one's ears still detect distortion, what could be the cause of it? Can one overdrive the mic capsule without pegging meters? Could this be it? Other?

If I export a mix via the Master Bus, my track volume levels affect the mix. True? If I export a mix via the Master Bus, my track gain levels affect the mix. True? If I export individual tracks, the track volume level does not impact the exported track? True? If I export individual tracks, the track gain level does impact the exported track? True? In a mix, when is it best to use gain instead of volume?

That's good! They couldn't do that at NAMM due to the more open broad nature of the booth. I still give it a 5 thumbs up!

Nothing on the interfaces, but, didn't ask. As you may see in the photo, they were displaying Harmony, Heritage, Teisco. Very cool to see them. The one thing I would have done for better recognition: make a much larger CAKEWALK sign which would have caught more attention and offered greater credibility. The Cakewalk space was right in front, that was good though.

No updates yet on Rapture Pro, etc. With the new wing at the convention center completed last year it's much better. Quieter space for pro audio booths who choose to be away from the guitar/drum high-volume main area. BandLab chose the main floor, def the right move for them. Bigger presence. Some incredible performances, got to briefly meet Santana, Nancy Wilson, Rick Nielsen. And, 134,999 other people swarming around. Stark contrast: spending the day at NAMM and leaving in the evening to discover police in riot gear arresting protesters. The dichotomy of musical artists and industry folks walking down closed major streets going back to our hotels while hotel workers were protesting for a pay increase, more affordable healthcare, the implementation of panic buttons, increases to pensions and stronger protections for immigrants. Heartbreaking to see, and for all of us to be a part of, such imbalance in the world. 21 people arrested including an Anaheim city councilman. Wild. Check out these guitars (zoom in on 'em).

Mike told me they're working on (or have completed?) a conversion/migration tool to bridge BandLab project files to Cakewalk project files so that they can help people evolve to higher level creation. Got the sense that BandLab will continue to acquire/rescue/resuscitate worthy brands that fit with the vision of accessible available music creation for the masses. And, not sure if it's mine to share the specifics, or if they've already shared this elsewhere, but I now have zero concern that should Command Center ever go down (which is not their intent), that we will have no problem with authorization.

Yes, their location is right where people walk in to the room. But there are dozens of other entry options to that main level gigantic room. But they had excellent visibility. BandLab isn't a household brand name, yet, and I'm sure their presence there served them.
