Thank you both, those are helpful!

I think I remember that there's a way to easily set recording loop times. I'm aware of: A. Manually entering B. Clicking into the area I want to start, copying the "selection" time, pasting it into the loop start time Isn't there an easier way?

Thanks, that's good and helpful information. For pops, smacks, clicks, Vv's, I'm hoping Izotope's Rx will work. We'll see!

In the past I've used a few of my engineers to fine tune my vox. They're meticulous and never do broad stroke "tune it all" stuff. Keeps my voice sounding natural but in tune. I sing pretty much on pitch but have a LOT of minor pitchiness #flatish that once tweaked sounds so much better to me. I'm finishing lead vox for 2 albums right now and really don't have the money to pay the very reasonable $60-$80/hr. It would probably end up costing $2,000 for the 2 albums. Also, I have sooooooo many distracting vocal artifacts (lip smacks, a knocking sound when singing some phrases like "inside us (KNOCK) now", and a funky vibration when I sing certain "w" or "v" words. If I focus on NOT doing these, not only does it not really help but it kills the feeling of the vocal. Suggestions for less expensive but quality talent in these Melodyne or Izotope areas? Guys who are technically and musically good with these programs and will do the detailed approach who need work? Or forums where talent offers their help like graphic artists do on fiverr.com? (I'm not able to learn the software at this point.)

John, thank you, that solves the confusion!!! -
Solved! Meter Options: Pre-Fader not working???
chamlin replied to chamlin's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks, guys. To clarify, after recording, when playing back, with the meter option set to pre-fader, should changing the fader cause a change in meter levels? -
Solved! Meter Options: Pre-Fader not working???

The level shown in the meter (well, and the sound too, but the issue is I thought it shouldn't impact the meter level.) -
I'm tracking. After recording a vocal, I disengage the "record" function and playback the track. Have it set (as in the image) to show levels pre-fader. But when I move the fader it affects the level, thus impacting my view of how how the raw track actually is. What am I not understanding here?

Vol/Gain/Pan Controls Missing #wherearethesettings?
chamlin replied to chamlin's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
S.L.I.P., what do you mean by that? Not sure what was redundant. I'm grateful for John's explanation as I had no idea what to call them. -

Thank you so much! -
As you (hopefully) can see in the attached image, on one song I have volume, gain, pan controls, but on the other they're missing. These are older songs so I have no idea how I created either one. Where are the settings for what shows up in this area, whatever it's called? Thx!

SPLAT Playback 1/2 step higher with static popping

Hmm... semi-solved. This time, I turned off my Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 interface and then turned it back on. It's all fine. So clearly it's an interface issue. Will have to see if it becomes frequent. Then contact Focusrite. -
Bizarre. I open a project. Playback. All tracks are at least 1/2 higher. And, every track has weird pops - kind of like a morse code sound. When I tried to export it for you guys to hear, the track exports fine. Happening across all projects. Happened the other day but cured upon reboot. Not this time. Attaching a short comp mp3. ???? Funky Playback.mp3

In the image, a vocal section recorded too hot results in distortion. The 2nd take, backing off, appears to not indicate distortion (in the waveform.) IF one's ears still detect distortion, what could be the cause of it? Can one overdrive the mic capsule without pegging meters? Could this be it? Other?

If I export a mix via the Master Bus, my track volume levels affect the mix. True? If I export a mix via the Master Bus, my track gain levels affect the mix. True? If I export individual tracks, the track volume level does not impact the exported track? True? If I export individual tracks, the track gain level does impact the exported track? True? In a mix, when is it best to use gain instead of volume?

That's good! They couldn't do that at NAMM due to the more open broad nature of the booth. I still give it a 5 thumbs up! -

Nothing on the interfaces, but, didn't ask. As you may see in the photo, they were displaying Harmony, Heritage, Teisco. Very cool to see them. The one thing I would have done for better recognition: make a much larger CAKEWALK sign which would have caught more attention and offered greater credibility. The Cakewalk space was right in front, that was good though.
