That might be what I used to do, thanks. Where do I find the slide function?

Open the Inspector; clip properties and you can type in the exact bar/beat starting point.
Thank you, that's very cool!
- Will this work if multiple clips are selected?
- Is there a way to tell it, place the clip every (x) bars between measure 32 and 48?
-
Back in the day, I used to be able to highlight a clip then easily move it forward 4 measures. And maybe every 4 measures. Can't remember how to do that other than dragging it. I recall I could put in some number offset and it would automatically populate. Or was that Cubase on my Atari?

If you're in lanes and see the comping crop tool as in your bottom image, hold the Shift key, and it should switch to the individual clip crop tool.
So much better, thanks a lot!

I know in Logic you can use the Arranger to move whole section around to resequence songs. Can Sonar do that? I know it wouldn't be perfect as transitions need to be handled carefully, but it sure would help!

Relief, thanks. Will check it later!

I can't reproduce this after multiple attempts with loop/punch... I still suspect this is related to your particular interface and driver mode; what is it?
Maybe try enabling/disabling UseHardwareSamplePosition in Preferences > Audio > Config File (AUD.INI), depending on what is currently set. You should also try re-booting and/or power-cycling your interface if that isn't happening regularly.
Your original post said offset was 7 measures while your last screenshot shows offset is two measure or less if I'm interpreting correctly. Is it that variable?
Thx for taking the time to explore this, David.
1. Yes, I can't reproduce it either. It just happens.
2. I've ruled out the possibility that it could have been if I hit record with the Now Time not set to the beginning of the Loop. That seemed a good possibility as suggested earlier. But not it.
2. Focusrite Scarlett 18i8 (2nd Gen)
3. What is the UseHardwareSamplePosition? It's set to True.
4. Yes, it appears to be variable based on the length of the Punch or Loop. Can't figure that out yet. -

I found it very odd that I was the only one who noticed such a huge bug. But your issue seems like nobody else has the problem?
Perhaps a detailed description of what hardware you are using and if you have any mastering effects in place. Thanks, John. Kind of you to reply given you've left Sonar for greener pastures! Not sure anyone else seeing the post has tried the process. For me, punching is a much cleaner, faster approach that minimizes editing later on.
No effects are being used at all. Just raw recording through my Focusrite Scarlett. -

Curious if it's a buffer or latency issue with the interface...
Is it possible that that is the reason that it does in sporadically?

What is interesting is this was a bug I reported but it was with Cakewalk Next? Punch ins were about 2 measures late. They fixed it eventually but it took submitting 3 videos over a few months to finally get attention. This was When it was first released as a beta version.
Well, it's in my paid version of Sonar and very flow-breaking, for sure.

This happened again. I've taken a snapshot of the screen with the control bar to see if that offers any info. Please see the attached note in the image.
1. Loop was set, then punch record was set within the boundaries of the loop.2. Made sure the NOW time was set to the beginning of the loop
3. Looped 6 times (6 takes)
4. But instead of the vocal sitting where it was sung, SONAR has again offset the vocal.
A. The beginning of the vocal is cut off
B. The vocal in the clip should sit later in the clip than it does
NOTE: I have been using this exact same process flawlessly all day... until SONAR killed a good take just now. 😭- There are situations when punching is easier in my workflow. I do often just loop record, but when there are lots of clips around where I'm recording, it's irritating to keep having the clips disabled by the new recording. Thus, punching suits the situation.
- Staff confirmed that having both loop and punch enabled should work
- No tempo changes
- Now time is always at the beginning of the loop prior to hitting record
-
No metronome count-in being used

Are there any tempo changes in the song? I have seen issue like this at times when tempo changes are in the same area as I am recording.
No tempo changes, but thanks for responding!

In the past mis-located recordings have sometimes been related to metronome count-in and/or specific interfaces. Try disabling count-in and let us know your interface and driver mode.
Thx, David. Not using a count in. The tracks have the drummer counting us in over his Room Mic.

- Get into the habit of pressing W before pressing R again so you start at the beginning of the loop.
Thank you. Yes, I always press W prior to R... AND, if I didn't, the playback in my headphones would be playing in the middle of the section and I'd definitely know it so I would stop and hit W. So I don't see how this will ultimately be the issue. Good input though.
I would do the screen recording but the issue "appears to be" random. I can't make it happen. But if there is a next time, I'll do a full screenshot. Thanks!-

I think setting 2 loops, basically, is messing something up.
If that's the case, then how does one do punch comp recording with enough lead in to best time when to come in... without recording on top of the existing track?
-
12 minutes ago, Wookiee said:
You said set the punch in, that is not required if you are using the loop/comp recording that @57Gregy suggested.
1. You set a loop points.
2. You enabled/arm the track for recording with the comp method selected, which is the default method.
3. Press the R to start recording each loop is recorded in its own take lane. No punch in needs to set.
Thx, Wookie. I set the punch in / out because I want the loop to play a wider range than I'm recording to give me runway to be ready. That shouldn't cause this issue, should it?

I don't know but have you tried 'loop recording' instead?
Thx, Greg. That is exactly what I'm doing!

In my project, I set my loop, then within the loop, I set the record punch section. Record. Works fine. Then, without touching any settings, I hit record again, but this time, my recorded tracks are offset 7 measures forward, which results in the recording being misaligned, and 7 measures not recording. This is a persistent bug which has f'd up several great takes. Been using Sonar since day 1 and this has been happening ever since I "upgraded" from the free legacy Cakewalk to Sonar. Help?

2. Did you create a new folder? I believe there is a tick box that says copy audio.
3. You can save as but change the type to template, and the location to the template directory.
2. Well, the way I had to sort it out was to create an audio folder in the saved as project, then move all of the audio tracks to the new project. But the issue now is that the project still thinks it's supposed to add newly created audio to the old file's audio folder. I need to change that. Image shows what is set when I click Project, Audio Files. How to change this?
-
Goals:
1. When I create a new project, I want all recorded audio to be in that project's Audio folder, and the pictures in the Picture folder. Per Project. What's the setting and where?
2. I "Saved As" a project because I liked the settings. But the new "saved as" project put the new project's recorded audio in the old project's audio folder. How do I change the new project's audio folder to reside in its own project?
3. So that I don't keep having to Save As... how do I save an existing project, with plugins open, but no audio/midi tracks included, to a template to use on the regular?
Thanks!

Installing Sonar on Win 10 Pro system with existing Cakewalk installation. Selected "Advanced". But when I get to the options for drives to install, only the C drive is offered, and the drop down doesn't do anything. Location is greyed out. Want program on the C drive, but projects, audio files on my dedicated Cakewalk drive. Help?

Will a first time installation of the new Sonar be able to port over templates, settings from my current existing CWBL? Or will I have to set the whole thing up again?
Moving Clips Forward a Specific Number of Measures
in Cakewalk Sonar
Posted
Slide is def what I used to use. But it doesn't copy and dupe at say 4 measures ahead, it just slides the clip so I have to first copy the clips then move them. Extra step.
Also, I thought I used to be able to tell it slide 4 meaures, 3 times. No?
Will ripple edit do these things?
