BEWARE!
Installed it! Liked it very much BUT my very stable computer started getting wonky, freezing, slow response on clicking, some slight delay in pressing play and actually starting, etc.!
Uninstalled both V-pan and Codemeter and cleaned the drive, rebooted and all problems are gone!
NOTE: UNINSTALLING V-pan DOES NOT GET RID OF CODEMETER! YOU MUST UNINSTALL CODEMETER AS WELL!!!
Thanks Sidney...
I had a funny feeling with this one.
I liked it too but also found my normally stable machine misbehaving.
Suspecting that the uninstall would not remove codemeter I immediately found and removed it.
A full reboot later and my machine is once again well behaved!
Kiss that one goodbye!

I decided to delete it without installing when I started getting emails about free shipping for "my new mk8". First I just went to unsubscribe, until it showed in my prefs that I should get emails about my new Mk8, which I don't have, didn't and wouldn't and couldn't order. A company that can't keep their account info straight, and/or have deceptive info there, etc., isn't one I want to deal with.
Thanks...
Yeah... between the many issues and if any, not yet responded from the company as their' supplied serial number keeps reporting as invalid. I've contacted them, but no response... yet? We'll see.
In the meantime I started experiencing some audio anomalies today and I'm still trying to track them down. New plugins are always suspicious...
So I decided to uninstall it and discovered that it did indeed install codemeter with no prompting or other mention.
I've removed both...
I had two of the worst machine lockups I've ever had on this normally very stable machine all day. twice forcing me to Hard Hard reBoot in order to recover.
The anomaly still occurs and I'm now eliminating a few plugins I don't often use...

All very interesting but it turns out I saw no mention of codemeter during the install itself?

Same here. It was always a part of Reason.
Thanks. Interesting that it didn't appear during the install. Having trouble getting it to accept the supplied serial number.

Hi Keni,
I never had any issue with Codemeter.
Thanks Jim...
That's what I was hoping to hear...
I'll give it a try.
If you're interested it's free from Rhodes through APD... It appears to be an automated panner related to the Rhodes chorus panning maybe? Here's the d/l link
I'm gonna install it now...

Hi Keni,
Codemeter is a hardware dongle (similar to iLok or e-Licenser).
For a good while, Codemeter was used by Samplitude.
Magix moved away from using Codemeter... and it's not been used by many other developers.
Thanks Jim...
Is it relatively benign?
This is a software version of Codemeter. I'm guessing similar to iLok on the desktop?

I just got an offer from APD for a free plugin from Rhodes called V-Pan... I downloaded it but haven't installed it yet as there's a note during the d/l telling of the installation of codemeter software for product registration/regulation which made me stop short.
I didn't begin the install... Remembering the past made me wonder if this is simply another manufacturer's typical program, or more potentially problematic as it is a 3rd party software.
So I thought I might ask around about Codemeter before proceeding. Interesting enough as the plugin appears to me, system disruptions are far more concerning and the plugin isn't worth the risk at the moment....?
Anyone...?

Hey Keni, it’s been over 35 years, we played in the reggae refugees .
Lost track of you and Tali long ago . So sad to hear this news.I’m still in the Bay Area, playing a lot.
All the best,

Wow!
Mike!
Thrilled to hear from you. We've all been searching for you with no luck. Now down to Stuarto and me.
Glad to hear you're still playing. And still in California.
I'm way north in Mendocino. Let's have a pm so we can exchange contact info!

Seems like a lot of hoops just for a hat mute.
Yeah, I felt that too, but that's the SD3 sample set. The chokes are all listed as articulations as they already have so many samples mapped to the primary map.
Once realized though, and created (articulation maps for cymbals) it's relatively simple to deal with...

I stumbled upon this thread while trying to solve this exact same issue. Seems like this thread wasn't a success. But I finally solved it, if you're still wondering, here's:
-Select the concerned cymbal by clicking on it-Above the drum picture, in the right corner, select the ''tail mute'' articulation that's under ''Not-MIDI mapped''. Now we need to MIDI-map it
-In the edit column that's further on the right, double click on the ''MIDI mapping'' tab. You should see the ''tail mute'' entry
-Click on the 3 horizontal line logo next to the ''tail mute'' entry
-Select either ''learn'' or ''map'' according to your preference
Now you can play or map the mute as a note.
There you go! Let me know if that helpedThanks. I guess I forgot to mark it solved. I was so used to having it as an immediate part of the sample set offered that it took me a bit to reralize to access it as an articulation here which I did manage to do...eventually. 😉
But thanks for giving your time and thoughts here. I should have posted my results but I guess I forgot.... Oh, I posted my articulation maps in the appropriate thread here I believe...

Freeze is unlikely to be aware of complex routing, so I'd recommend using Bounce to Track(s) - it can be found under the Track View "Tracks" menu.
Once you've bounced, you can archive the original tracks to free up resources. Thanks Mark!
Ahhh!
Thank you thank you! I forgot to look there. I remembered having bounce to tracks but couldn't remember where it was!
I'm gonna try this now...
So far not working. It is only bouncing the audio... I'm gonna check my settings more and try again...
Success! yes!
Second try.... Simply didn't have track fx selected...
Nice! Thanks Mark! both for the excellent creative tools work and for reminding me!

I would tend to just solo it and export as a 48/32 wave file and drag it back to a new track.
Archive the original so if changes need to be made later.Thanks... Easy enough. You seem to think as I do saving original tracks... I keep all my Melodyne work tracks live and archived while usingcloned rendered copies.... So I can always go back!

Yeah... Something I haven't tinkered with in a long time.
Today I used the TAL Vocoder to create a track and I'm now trying to freeze it with no luck.
Is there some way to do this? Though not created a a pair of tracks for an instrument, it uses an audio track where the vocoder in inserted and a separate MIDI track to feed the correct pitches to the synth sounds but neither freeze nor bounce to clips (didn't we also have a bounce to tracks? I can't find that))
Anyone have any thoughts or knowledge on this? I'd love to hear from you!
Thanks!

For sure, one key shortcuts can do damage . . . I remember the "O" key used to enable (and disable) Offset Mode . . . great way to wreck a mix if you hit it by mistake, and carry on not noticing.
Though my fav single key shortcut, that I learned here on this forum years ago, is reprogramming (in Preferences - Keyboard Shortcuts) the < and > keys. These can be set to cycle through the project Markers, no damage done.
Funny, yes. ...because I still have O set to toggle offset mode. Never gets in my way as there are so many visual clues

This.
Say you can have the default basics but then an option to enable the whole works.
In a way it’s that Cakewalk uses one key shortcuts, most software uses combination shortcuts. I like this myself. In Cakewalk split is S. elsewhere it seems to be Ctrl S.
Where I’ve often toggled a huge mess is when trying to name a track. You think the name dialogue is in focus but it isn’t.
Unless something's changed that I don't know of, you can edit any of the keyboard shortcuts by either adding commands to unused key-combinations or re-assigning existing links. Be Safe, safe your current shortcut settings prior to changing anything?
Naming a track? When I double click on a track's name area in either CV or TV, it highlights the current text. Allowing access. if you use a single key such as arrow left. home, end, etc. the current info remains and can be text edited. If you simple begin typing while the original all is highlighted, what you type will replace what's there. Very standard fare.
Am I missing something?

This happens to me all the time but I can’t pinpoint the cause.
I know I am not hitting the Pro Channel on/off button but somehow they seem to turn on.
I wish I could figure out what action causes this.
It happens a lot and I am on the most current version of Cakewalk by BandLab.
Not sure if this is the same or related, but I continually have to reset pre/post status of the PC.
I save a template with the PC set to Post.
Then at other time or place, insert a track using that track template (or using the song template to start something new. Depends on which I save)
The PC is set to Pre (instead of Post as it was saved).
This isn’t new though, it’s been that way in CbB as long as I can remember too.

Thanks Bill.
It doesn’t feel real yet. We were artwork and filing fees from releasing his new (3rd solo) album. I’ve still got all that on my brain feeling as current work in progress.
First 2 albums recorded by him with Sonar (Gibson era).
New (3rd) album recorded with CbB.
1st and 3rd mixed by me using same.
2nd album mixing happened while I was in the middle of losing my home/studio so he found help elsewhere. Came out great there too!
After spending more than 50 years of entwined life with someone...
