Faint Buzz/Whine from USB-C Interface
Simeon Amburgey replied to MisterGreen's topic in Computer Systems
I had a similar issue with connecting my keyboard to USB and also an outboard interface where I would hear a lot of strange noise and such. At first, I tried the ferrite cores around some of the audio and USB cables. My solution was to use a USB ground isolator and that took care of the issue right away. Here are a few on Amazon; https://www.amazon.com/s?k=usb+ground+loop+isolator&crid=2CPDVH0YI7JIX&sprefix=USB+ground%2Caps%2C120&ref=nb_sb_ss_mvt-t9-ranker_1_10 Joyfully yours, Simeon -
I am so glad you were able to figure it out. I can’t tell you how many times I have had to look at my screenshot pic when things stopped working for one reason or another. This is why I am looking forward to the anticipated Windows update to the MIDI port stack and other midi related updates I have heard about. Until then, thank goodness for the pictures! 😂 Joyfully, Simeon

A couple of things to check. I have found recently that for some reason the MIDI ports can get scrambled, due to Windows updating or other mysterious reasons. That is the first thing I usually check. I have even went so far as to take a picture of my control surface routing as I use several “virtual” midi ports. You want to make sure that the MIXFACE control surface profile is set to CUBASE. For some reason that implementation seems to work best when using the Cakewalk Mackie Control. There is another version of the Mackie Control I use alongside the usual Cakewalk version. I use the Streamdeck as well with the transport functions so the need for multiple MACKIE Controls. I have a feeling it could be related to the Cakewalk MIDI port assignments but you never know. I hope this gives you some clues where to start. Joyfully, Simeon
-
Yes, I have a Streamdeck XL and the new Streamdeck NEO. I use them for transport controls for Cakewalk but sometimes the MIDI ports get reassigned somehow which is a little frustrating at times. One of the things I would love to learn more about is programming macros and such, but it is an amazing device that is full of potential. There is no way to imagine doing livestreams without one ;^) Joyfully, Simeon

@msmcleod BRILLIANT! I think the HOLD TIME was my undoing. Since I am holding notes for a measure at a specific BPM this helps to calculate that offset and, in this case, 200ms worked a treat. This gives me a great start! Now if we could only do a regression on the LYRIC VIEW Melisma handling introduced in the SONAR PLATINUM days ;^) No, seriously, it really needs to be changed back to follow the General MIDI spec, as it is now it is maddening to try and deal with syllables that go across several notes. Thanks again for the help and the amazing work you have put into our beloved DAW. Joyfully yours, Simeon

I realized that my question might be a little too vague or broad, so how about this. EXPORTING SPLIT CLIPS IN A TRACK * RECORD a sequence of notes on an audio track * SPLIT the resulting longer clip into smaller clips to establish the individual notes. This would probably be done manually, or I think there was a way to have SONAR automatically DETECT SILENCE and then SPLIT the entire clip appropriately. * EXPORT the individual "split" clips into their own audio file from the SINGLE TRACK I have tried a few searches but have not discovered any good answers ;^) Thanks for the help. Joyfully yours, Simeon

Hello everyone, I have been working on learning how to create my own sample instruments, with my first attempt being a fun project I call, The "PING"! This is using some of the audio from the Boeing Starliner, where they picked up that crazy sound coming from the capsule which turned out to be some sort of audio misconfigured feedback, but it was enough to capture my imagination. I have seen a few videos from Venus Theory and Dave Hilowitz (creator of Decent Sampler), that show them using Reaper to record, slice and export their samples but I wondered how I could do this inside of Cakewalk. Thanks for any assistance, and while you are here, check out my introduction to The "PING"! (I have since updated it with more effects and GUI, and have a synth layer I am working on) Joyfully yours, Simeon

Which Is The Most Popular Interface Brand Overall?
Simeon Amburgey replied to Larry Shelby's topic in Deals
Bapu, My heart warmed a bit when I saw GINA. After my first SoundBlaster, there was Gina along with my Event 20/20p monitors, which served me well for quite a while. I then moved to one of the Presonus two channel interfaces, and then one of their larger 6/8 versions, then the Focusrite 4i4 3rd gen, then the Arturia miniFUSE 4 (which I really enjoyed using), THEN it’d happened! I found an RME BabyFace PROfs on EBay and have not looked back! It has been an amazing journey to be sure. Joyfully, Simeon -
@Vernon Barnes check this out. It is Angelic Keys from Orange Tree Samples $24 (Full Kontakt Required) This has “that” cool harpsichord like sound and might be exactly what you are looking for. I picked it up during one of the group buys. Enjoy! Simeon https://www.orangetreesamples.com/products/angelic-keys Angelic Keys captures the heavenly tone of a 53-key spinet harpsichord, also known as a virginal. The spinet harpsichord has a much quieter sound than a full-size harpsichord. Its pureness of tone is due to the fact that each key plucks a single string rather than unisons (multiple strings tuned to the same pitch to increase the instrument's volume). Because of its quieter tone, the spinet harpsichord also lends itself to smaller ensembles and makes it easier to blend in your mix. We've included the close and far mic positions as separate signals so that you can customize the sound of the instrument. For added realism, we made sure to preserve all the resonance and every buzz in the releases to recreate the true character of a spinet harpsichord. Whether you're writing 18th century classical music or hipster singer-songwriter tunes, Angelic Keys will make a great addition to your sound palette--and at a price that won't make you go baroque!

Today is going to be pretty wild. Vienna Symphonic Library is having what they are calling a Percussion Festival with up to 40% off their entire family of percussion instruments. I will be playing through many of them for the first hour and thanks to their generosity will be giving away quite a few of their collections (World Percussion, and many of the Big Bang Orchestra percussion titles). They have sponsored the first part of the livestream and have provided copies of the libraries for me to feature and give away. Also, taking a different turn to focus and relax, I will play through Cinematic Alpha's latest MEDIpads (two to giveaway). Should be a lot of fun. *Fracture Sounds and Cinematic Alpha have been a great support in providing their libraries for me to explore with you. Unfortunately I ran short of time and was not able to cover Homestead Piano but never fear I will have something soon, so stay tuned. I hope to see you later today!

Websampler $10 | The Internet is your sound buffet ;^)
Simeon Amburgey replied to Simeon Amburgey's topic in Deals
I was trying it on some of the free stock sound effect websites (PixaBay for example), and then dropping it into another sampler and it was a lot of fun. It is a great way to get material especially for sound design purposes. Sometimes if I need a bit of audio from a website, I use a separate downloader, but this eliminates a step and makes the process much more convenient. After Thursday this will be even a lot more fun to use as something really cool is coming that I can drop these samples into (stay tuned). -
Hello everyone, I have seen a few blurbs about this and thought I would give it a look. Web Sampler is like a VST3 that is actually a web browser but captures audio. You can adjust start and end times and drag and drop the result into a sampler of your choise. Some first experiences were a lot of fun. Here is the link: https://www.wxaudioplugins.com/websampler *of course use your newfound power responsibly ;^) Joyfully yous, Simeon

Green, Thanks so much for the suggestions. I went with the API Vision Channel Strip and LEXICON 224. Joyfully yours! Simeon

Got it! I just need to explore it a bit more but from my early tests, it sounds gorgeous. Capital Chambers for me is one of my favorites! Joyfully!

Mibby, It is truly a pleasure. One of the main reasons I prefer going live is that I am committed ;^) It also allows me to capture really special moments as well, and the idea of being able to share these experiences with such an amazing community just puts more wind in my Joyful Journey sails. I am trying to manage things so haven't been on as regularly as I have been but I look forward to seeing you on a possibly upcoming livestream. Thanks again, Simeon

Yes, that is one of the cruel twists in UAudios sales strategy. I can only have so many Century Tube Channel Strips (but I find that I have enjoyed using it).

So, with TODAY (June 30) being the last day it seems I can use my $25 vouchers, I am wondering what TWO UAudio plugins would be MUST HAVES? I already have the Essentials and Producer Bundles, along with Capitol Chambers. I mainly wanted the Producer Bundle for the instruments ;^) There is a $25 voucher in my account without a price limitation so that could be used on the $76 bundle, so trying to see if there are TWO plugins that are must haves. Thanks so much for the feedback. It might be the case I have everything I need, but we all know how that works out. Joyfully yours, Simeon

You must already have Pianoteq 8 installed. The $49 is the price of the piano expansion itself, so if you already had Pianoteq and a few pianos then it is $49 to add this additional one. If you are a new Pianoteq user than you can select this one as one of the initial options. Pianoteq Stage $139 : Two instrument selections included Pianoteq Standard $269: Three instrument packs and ability to tweak the instruments Pianoteq PRO $399: Four instrument packs and more detailed editing per note and higher sampling rate Pianoteq Studio $899: The entire instrument collection and all the features of PRO More details here: https://www.modartt.com/pianoteq_overview?ref=cGFnZT1waWFub3RlcSZleHQ9 I also had a playthough during a special Wednesday livestream. You can check it out here:

I actually have not had a chance to check them out in depth but thought it was a great opportunity to add them to research and feature them at a later time. I did have a brief time testing them out when I was trailing their SPARK Sub but the time constraints made it difficult to get too deep with them. Here is a video I did during my trial period ;^) I do have to say that I have been using Captial Chambers, the LA-2A Silver, quite a bit! ;^)

I found TWO $25 vouchers in my account after purchasing the PRODUCER BUNDLE. One of them can be used for ANY purchase, while the other is valid on $99 and up purchases. I already have the Essentials Bundle and pulled the trigger on the Producer Bundle due to all of the keyboards and the other compressors being included. I was debating on what TWO plugins I could get in the $76, and then use the general $25 off coupon. Decisions, decisions ;^)

Got this! You need to open the link using your MOBILE DEVICE, as it will not work from a desktop computer. I hope that helps, Simeon
