Time for some jazz.
Mr. P.C. - John Coltrane
Dedicated to his bass player, Paul Chambers.
Lambert, Hendrics and Ross put some vocals to it and had a nice go with that song

"Ride Like The WInd" - Christopher Cross
Lyrical association:
And I've got such a long way to go (such a long way to go)
To make it to the border of Mexico
So I'll ride like the wind
Ride like the windWhether you like the song or not, you gotta agree, the session musicians and production are all superb.

Good statement,Notes,
I don´t think that "West" is a musician .
I haven´t thought that there will be a time to have a hit by simply
get some samples roughly with some dense talking at the same time.
When I listen to music I listen to melody and harmony. How the chords move and how they react to each other. This is what tickles my ears.
Next comes rhythm, I like rhythm, but if the melody and chord movement doesn't turn me on, then even a great rhythm will get old to me in 16-32 bars. On the other hand I can listen to something totally rubato and if the chords and melody are strong enough, never get tired of it.
Words last -- and in some songs I never get to the words, they just become articulations of the melody. There are songs I love that I never stopped to listen to the words. OK I'm weird that way, but I accept that.
So most rap music is lost on me since there is no chord movement (boring harmony) no melody, lots of rhythm and words I don't care to listen to.

But I'm a musician, so the music part comes first to me. Obviously these things are not as important to the people who make West, Minaj and others superstars.

Thanks Steve. Tried all that. Tried copying and pasting the entire link. Every now and then one will embed, the rest of the time it just pastes the link or the share link.
However if I click "Submit" then Edit, the same link will embed.
Who knows why?
Mesh, That's one of my favorite Dan tunes too.
Here's another. The "Talk Box" guitarist Dean Parks is awesome (and I don't use that word often).
Haitian Divorce - Steely Dan (Bernard Purdy is one of my favorite rock drummers too).

Well, it's better than using the news or political sections, the birds or animals tend to read it and kill themselves. ?
If it didn't harm the animals, I can't think of a better use for the political sections than to use as a toilet. :D

Put the comics section down, it's often the most intelligent section of the paper.

Kanye is entitled to his opinion, and I have my own about Kanye.
Kanye either doesn't play the guitar, doesn't know how to listen well, and/or doesn't listen critically
There is no synth that can replace a guitar, sax, trumpet or many other instruments.
I play synth guitar/electric guitar and synth sax/acoustic sax.
The synth can do a lot of things the guitar and sax can do, but the guitar and sax can do some things a synth cannot do. On the other hand the synth can do some things the guitar and sax cannot do.
So when I play synth guitar or synth sax, I play it as it's own instrument, for the things it can do that the guitar or sax cannot.
A good guitar player or someone with a critical, trained ear can tell when the guitar is synth. Others may not.
A good sax player or someone with a critical, trained ear can tell when the sax is synth. Others may not.
I don't care how good the samples are. The guitar, sax, trumpet, violin etc. player can coax certain nuances out of his/her instrument that is impossible to do with samples, no matter how many multisamples you have.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

It's a 4 day work week for me. Three day weekend coming up.
I'm self-employed, it's a 7 day work week for me. Dorian gave me 4 days off - in a way. Putting the storm awnings down, putting storm panels up on the windows that don't have awnings, making sure the generator runs, getting gas, buying food, bottling water, and so on. And I did it all for nothing because it barely glanced us (Hooray!) - 50mph sustained winds recorded about a mile from here.
But I only gig 2 or 3 days a week in the off-season, and that many if I'm lucky. So I'm working on making more Band-in-a-Box styles.
When you're self-employed, you get to pick which 16 hours of the day you are going to work on. ? But I wouldn't trade it for a "real job".

I couldn't afford the piano, much less the apartment!
I live in a very small house (900 sq ft) on a half acre lot. We don't practice with the PA on often, but when we do, it's usually between 3 and 5 PM. I have an understanding with our neighbors, that whenever we play, if it at an inconvenient time, let us know. They tell us we should practice more often (nice neighbors).
But most of the time we practice on the gig. After all, if you can't practice on stage, where CAN you practice?

Some folks never learn how to beat it?
Perhaps if I played even louder they'd beat it (or beat me)

"I (Who Have Nothing)" - Ben E King -- An English language cover of the Italian song "Uno Dei Tanti" IMHO improved by Tom Jones

I've got a similar problem. My neighbors bang on the wall when I practice the guitar, but they have the worst sense of rhythm. They never bang in time. I figure if I play louder, perhaps I can teach them how to keep the beat better.
