  1. How about Lambert, Hentricks and Ross - "Cloudburst" John Hendricks can sing faster than anybody I know and still make music out of it - be-bop vocals:
  2. I'd Love to Change the World - Alvin Lee & Ten Years After
  3. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K2VWDYo8gGc it won't embed for some reason :(
  4. How about some Luiz Bonfa playing Luiz Bonfa - the picture is bad but the guitar playing is great
  5. My dad quit smoking when I was young, and with the money he didn't spend on smoking he bought one LP per week. Mostly Big Band, Western Swing, and Sinatra era pop music. Good stuff. Mom liked Broadway show tunes, as a child I didn't appreciate them as much as my dad's music, but as I got older I learned how to listen to them. My parents never discouraged my from listening to rock and even liked some of the songs. My dad played trumpet, violin, ukulele and organ. I never heard him play trumpet or violin, but we had a lot of fun singing along while he played the uke. I guess if he had Band-in-a-Box he might have played the monophonic instruments more. On with the association game. Last post was "Walter Murphy - A Fifth of Beethoven" - how to get us out of Beethoven? This might work. "King Stephen Overture (König Stefan Overture)" - Beethoven George Szell conducting the Cleveland Orchestra
  6. Start with the bare essentials then go on to the FUNdamentals. The only problem is that you can't cover up your mistakes Notes
  7. I found this in a used CD store, bought it just to hear what it was about, and absolutely love it. The music is a mixture of Azerbaijani and Soviet Russian classical and there isn't much out there quite like it. The Arabian Nights, complete Ballet in two Acts - Fikret Amirov
  8. My dad was a big band fan and so am I. (life is too short to listen to only one kind of music) Stompin' At The Savoy - Benny Goodman
  9. "King Porter Stomp" - Jelly Roll Morton
  10. The best live Blues album I've ever heard and one of the best life any-kind-of albums I've ever heard. James had the audience in the palm of his hand. Listen to him tease them with song titles woven into sentences or short lines only go into another song so that later when he dies those same songs the crowd goes wild. Listening this one over and over again, not just for the music (which is great) but for the way James controls the audience is school for musicians. Live At The Apollo 1962 - James Brown & The Famous Flames
  11. We males are too easy for that kind of a scam. The same thing can happen in New York or Los Angeles.
  12. Lachto Drom (Safe Journey) - various artists Very different and entertaining "Gypsy" music from India to Spain I especially like the Romanian (Taraf de Haidouks) and French segments
  13. Acid Rain - Lorn This is one weird video (can't say much for the music though)
  14. Just don't leave any pieces laying around on the floor. Sorry dad, my synth just dropped a plug-in.
  15. Don't wake me up: I Wanna Be Sedated - Ramones
  16. I like this thread, it exposes me to music I didn't know existed, some of which I enjoyed immensely. Some more variety. Putumayo puts out some unusual stuff, always well produced. Here is one of my favorites. An Afro-Portuguese Oddyssey - various artists
