It's me again. After having fixed the install on my old PC DAW by installing Visual C runtimes (thank you, User 905133) I now tried updating my new, 6-month-old PC which has ONLY DAW-related stuff on it. I started my PC, opened BandLab Assistant (cakewalk not open), clicked the Apps tab and the button under Cakewalk said "Update" so I clicked on it. It downloaded the necessary files fairly quickly, now the word "Installing..." is fading in and out. It has been doing this for half-an-hour. Nothing is happening. The install needs fixing.

Chrome, FF after version after version 20(?) and Opera use Google's Chromium and I don't trust Google. But your tip was perfect. I downloaded and installed the latest Visual C distributables from Microsoft and now everything works! The link in the thread you referred to was to the German language version. Here for the next person with the same problem are the English ones: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2977003/the-latest-supported-visual-c-downloads

AH! Thanks for that link - exactly my problem. OK, I'll chase that up. Much appreciated!

Just tried a different PC. Same problem. H'm.

Well, internet explorer and firefox do not work here. What are you using?
-
OK, so I went to www.bandlab.com/products/cakewalk and the entire page is blank. Same with the homepage. Probably the server is down.
-
Tried re-installing but BandLab says I am up-to-date. If I press the Open button I get the same as above. I have to click OK 3 times before it finally disappears.

I have restarted my PC and double-clicked on my Cakewalk icon. I now get the message "Cakewalk.exe - System Error The code execution cannot proceed because VCRUNTIME140_1.dll was not found. Reinstalling the program may fix this problem "

It appears from another posting the OP is interested in MIDI editing.

Setup with green progress bar ran pretty much to the end (was getting coffee) and now the Setup - Cakewalk by BandLab window has a red progress bar and under it this dialog: "Error C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\CW130Auto.dll Unable to register theDLL/OCX: RegSvr.dll failed with exit code 0x3. " Abort, Retry, Ignore (not recommended) Retry just re-opens the error dialog.

Apologies if this has been suggested before, but could you borrow a different interface to try? Seriously, any modern off-the-shelf PC should work. I can only think the interface has issues.
-
Oh. Same here! Not too intuitive... Perhaps there's a reason?

I'm a long-time user and still have to refer back to tips from other users to do some things. But to get started there's many, many videos out there. The official Cakewalk/Sonar ones are best. ...and it's also what you are used to. I cannot understand GarageBand after many attempts.

How to remove fades caused by auto crossfade?
twelvetone replied to twelvetone's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Sure, but there are many other situations. I'll just re-ask without giving an example in case somebody knows. Is there a way to reset the fades caused by auto crossfade when pulling them apart again, other than manually? If you know Reaper, it does it automatically. -
Tried to update but Bandab Assistant just faded the word "Inatalling..." in and out. After 15min I broke it off. Started Cakewalk and it said I had an update. Went back to Bandlab Assistent and it said I am up to date. Started Cakewalk again and it showed 2020.05 and said I had an update. In the end I just fresh-installed Cakewalk, seems OK now.

If I overlap two clips (and AutoCrossfade does its thing), try different overlaps, then change my mind and pull them apart again, the fades stay on both clips. So far I always have always restored them manually, making auto crossfade less than convenient. Is there a way to separate the clips so the edges are restored? Holding Ctrl? Alt? Shift? Something? Reaper does this by default.

How to enable 32 bit VST synths
twelvetone replied to W. Cameron Bastedo's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
@scook - so if I understand you correctly, this problem comes mostly from Windows? -
I have two Studio and two Octa Captures (don't ask). If I connect a mix of Studio and Octa Captures, both appear in the preferences but only one or the other can be used. What happens is, by default, all in/outs of one interface only are checked, the other is all unselected and grey - cannot be selected. If you uncheck all in/outputs, then both interfaces are available again. If you check just one in/output on one interface, the other one goes all grey. In both cases, one is VS Expand = On, the other Off, and the coax cables are connected Out from the On interface to In on the Off interface. Two Studios together or two Octas together work no problem.

Plug in your interface with a microphone connected, start Cakewalk and open the Basic template, in the Audio panel hit the red button, speak in the microphone and adjust your audio interface input level, then hit the big red button at the top (looks like a tape recorder control) and sing some. Then hit Stop followed by Play. "Congratulations! You've just got your first hit" George Martin.

I am currently doing a Custom installation of Sonar X3 and under Libraries it includes StudioWare Panels. It is unchecked by default.

List of Sonar versions with plugin content?
twelvetone replied to twelvetone's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Thanks. Looks like X2 has a lot that was discontinued. So X2 plus X3 and then my Command Center contents, I should then have everything I bought. Then I can install CbB. Just checked: Did the above procedure now I have LP EQ and LP MB version 1.0.3 AND Linear EQ and Linear Compressor. Looks like I'm good. -

Thank you! The spreadsheet only has one column for Platinum. Did all Platinums have the same plugs? Do I only need to install the last one?
