  1. That happens a lot here, too, on ASIO. Didn't even think about reporting it. Just pray the "good" export doesn't have it. If not, re-export until it doesn't.
  2. The first issues reported seem directly related to this release - this one included "* When you edit or change settings during playback (playback loop on/off, resize audio clips, move audio clips across tracks, etc.), the output of all synths drops out." - even if doesn't specifically include "on export" it's the exact type of problem that is found in the export issues. For the rest I can't tell, since I haven't used the Arranger blocks before. The buffer size is also related to this update - I understand your point on that one. Still believe that the technical aspects should be handled by the DAW, not the user. The Workspace and clip gain I agree are not, but there is no point in making 10 separate posts for what is finally a single issue - stuff that needs to be looked into, and that should probably be centralized, anyway. If it were up to me, I'd collect all reports, regardless of how and when they come, and make a list of things to look into, for a shortest feasible solution. That's why I thought having them together actually helps. But that's just me. Another issue, a new one, which I've only detected in this update is this - with the audio track armed and monitored for recording, the existing, pre-recorded clips, that you record over, are still being played back while you record. Finally, another Arranger related issue, that completes the first batch - as I've said, don't know when it appeared - is that cutting and pasting Arranger parts doesn't seem to work. If you think they're worth looking into, you can decide what to do with them.
  3. Issues that I've encountered since updating to 09: * Sometimes synth tracks drop out, on export; * Sometimes synths are out of alignment with the audio, on export; * When you edit or change settings during playback (playback loop on/off, resize audio clips, move audio clips across tracks, etc.), the output of all synths drops out. Arranger is a mess - I don't know if that was there before, it's the first time I've tried to use it: * When promoting arranger tracks (moving parts forward, in the order) - either by hand or in the arranger window - the program crashes; in the rare instances it doesn't crash, what and how it moves, only God knows - some clips, yes, some, not, the Arranger block header, not, so on so forth; it's unusable; * When demoting arranger parts - it doesn't switch the parts in the order, it just lengthens the song by ADDING the part moved in the place you moved it to, and leaves a gap in the original place ?; I don't get the logic behind that; if you also have a tempo variation along the way, the result is a mess, cause it doesn't know how to handle moving parts among different tempos. * Also, when demoting arranger parts, some audio clips are truncated for no reason - you need to resize them every time. * In the process of moving arranger parts, audio clips get misplaced randomly in the project. I've had audio clips thrown back as far as bar 867, in a project that ended at bar 110. If I didn't tag every single audio clip, I wouldn't even know what those were, so I would have to spend time finding where they belonged. The export in that instance took about 45 minutes, and I had no clue why - cause it's not like it announces it misplaces clips. Workspaces - when you choose one as default, it applies it over the existing project settings, on load, so it does more harm than good. If you choose none as default, it doesn't apply it to new projects, so it doesn't help. Default Workspaces should only be applied to new projects. The settings a project are saved with should override everything. You don't choose particular settings and save the project with them, to have them replaces by the Workspace every time you open it. Meter resolutions should be a part of the Workspace settings, as much as anything else. When applying a Workspace to a project it should act like a mass settings import, after which it should no longer intervene. Any changes that you make and save with should be kept on project load - again, saved project settings should override everything. Clip gain: when I create a gain envelope on a clip, it automatically creates envelopes for all clips in that track. I avoid using the feature, cause I have to spend time deleting all other envelopes afterwards; don't get the logic behind that move either. When you select a clip, it should only create the envelope for that clip. About the buffer: we're not engineers, and shouldn't start engineering our own exports, I think Cakewalk should automatically choose the fastest buffer size based on the available resources, and we have to trust that it does a great job. When I choose a compressor, I don't have to manually adjust the THD, the compression curve, the noise levels and such, I just know that the compressor has all of those dialed to where it sounds good, and that's why I choose it. How would somebody change their buffer size? What do I check, and what calculations do I need to make, to make sure it's the fastest that works without dropouts, and such? And what is that about the buffer size changing the sound of the track? That shouldn't happen in any circumstance, and I shouldn't need to change the buffer size according to "how I want the track to sound", should I? I have plugins for that. Just my experience, if it's of any help improving this program.
  4. True, but then you've got undo, and you can just not save after the export, if you export at the end. In the end, I understand that each has got their own processes, for their own type of projects, and it's an addition, to a subtraction, so it's not something I mind, particularly since I don't use that dialog anyway - too many things to look at for a simple operation. It's just that I believe there are tons of issues more pressing that are constantly pushed back.
  5. I haven't seen any switch for that, but to access the old dialog you can choose Export from within your Control Bar module.
  6. Yeah, that's what I still use. To be honest, I don't see the point to the new dialog, which does everything you could very easily already do before. I mean if you waned to export without effects, you can select all tracks (CTRL+A), then click on the FX rack On/Off, then export. It's not hard; if you wanted it without sends, you can open up all sends buses, select, mute, then export. I don't see much utility in replacing the On/Off on the tracks with a check box in the dialog, still the same thing, only with more clutter to manage. But, hey, it's and addition, to a diminution, so I don't mind. What I would do is solve the End of Project recognition on export, which many have complained about, since automatic recognition obviously doesn't work, for several reasons, one of them being that automations are still handled at least clumsily, and ghost automations are hard to identify and impossible to remove; and it's so easy to solve - just insert a marker, like a transport cursor with a big E on top of it, that ends the project where it's placed. That's it, problem solved, no more recognition, no more nothing; make it easy to open up the buses pane, with a toggle Show/Hide button inserted on the Multidock; instead of dragging and scrolling and fitting them back to size all the time. Side Multidock (Browser, Synth Rack, Help, all that) available in the Console View; so easy to insert FX, instead of the big menu, which is also good - and love the new fonts, I've never commented on that; that's what I always use, I found a workaround to make it available, but it opens over the tracks instead of pushing them to the side, so more scrolling is needed to insert in the tracks to the right; drag and drop create instrument track in the Console View, from the Browser; why need to switch views to do that? easy to Open/Close the Sends with an easy access toggle button instead of a menu; that bugs me to no end; global Send FX On/Off for selected tracks, for individual buses; an All On/Off control for all instances of a specific plugin in the FX rack, by select all, ctrl+click on the power button of any of them; horizontal scrolling on mouse hover over the horizontal scroll bar. These are options that are needed and, among others, will also make it so much easier to choose all export options in the DAW before even hitting export, with just as much effort, but these simplifications are much more deeply reaching than that. ___________ I am SO PLEASANTLY IMPRESSED with the Browser, Synth Rack, and Help windows in the side Multidock now remembering their order and size in the project. Been waiting for so long for that. Also with the collapse state retention of the one-knob modules in the PC. Wow! There is a light at the end of the tunnel. ?
  7. It's ok, I don't mind, I have no problem with the old dialog, I was wondering if it might have been a slip.
  8. No sound coming out, and playback working intermittently in 2021.06. https://we.tl/t-Nsva1wSCmN
  9. When exporting from the Control Bar, the export dialog is the old one.
  10. All audio dropping out, randomly, on export, on 06 update 1. Not the first time it happened, additionally other times it "just" gets garbled. https://we.tl/t-8kPA6Oisqg
  11. Most likely Windows Defender. It's completely idiotic. It's deleted or disabled more of my software than pretty much all the viruses I've encountered, except the ogdo. I like to use portables, whenever I can, and it deletes or blocks all of them, on every occasion, and sometimes it's the same behavior you've reported. Sometimes the exe is open in Task Manager, but no GUI is allowed to open. Other times, it closes everything altogether. It even tries to delete itself, or the svchost - and that on a clean install. I've disabled the automatic scan from the policies, and now it tells me it needs to scan, and if I ignore it long enough it starts doing it by itself, and still deletes stuff. It's almost obsessive-compulsive. Doesn't ask, doesn't warn. Doesn't care, doesn't consider what you say. It's got some mad cow in it.
  12. Too late ?. I've ryzened up. Found a deal for a 5800X ROG STRIX system, whose former owner mines crypto, so he bought it for the graphic card, which he couldn't find otherwise, and sold everything else for about 60% of what it would have normally cost, even second hand. I had been mulling over it for a while, so just got it. The only problem is I have a gen2 graphic board, and, for some reason the legacy mode doesn't get saved in the motherboard UEFI, which means I can't mount the system until I get a gen4 graphic board, which is expensive, too, and I have no budget for it now. I don't game, just need it to run video. So the new, almost complete system - with only the graphics missing - has been looking at me for two weeks, and looks like it's about to do some more looking. I've only heard great things about 5th gen Ryzens. I can't imagine it being worse, architecture wise, than my current FX - which is not bad, only outdated and underpowered for new gen plugins, especially CLAs, which I use a lot of. The point is that the optimization for AMD altogether might be something to look over.
  13. I've seen the same crashes, errors, etc., reported by several people, on different occasions, and people using the same stuff reporting no problem, which is weird. it's almost like talking about two different programs. i've recently seen a forum comment of someone talking about switching from intel to ryzen amd. he said the new processor outclassed his former i9, but after the change he started to experience crashes he never experienced before - welcome to the real world, right? ? i'm starting to think there's a connection.
  14. Twilight Zone. Are you on Intel or AMD?
  15. If you can provide details on this we'll investigate. I haven't heard of other reports of this. @Jonathan Sasor I've remembered what it was - it was neither the order nor the on/off state, it was the collapsed state - at least for Space, Depth and the Smoocher/Smoother, haven't tried the rest. Maybe Rematrix Solo, but am not sure. You can check with all modules and see which pop up.
  16. I don't use templates, whenever I have a new project, just think of the closest project in terms of sound and instrument layout, and open that one, delete all clips, save as new. There you go - already mixed ?. Obviously I do the changes in terms of sounds - synths, amps, reverbs, EQ, compression, FX tones and atmospheres - pretty much everything - afterwards, but it already has all the plugins in place, and the tracks already setup. The options are not saved in Workspaces, though, or in the project info.
  17. In Cakewalk? That's even weirder. I use the vst3, too, it never saves that. I've never tried automating it - but I guess that's not a question of saving it, but of automatically re-reading the setting on playback.
  18. Great to hear. It's been buggingsome (new word, probably). I am using a workspace, yes. From what I gather workspaces don't store those settings, anyway - it'd be nice if they did, as they are part of the overall layout - so it shouldn't matter, should it? But the workspace was created with those meter settings already applied, just to be safe, so even if they did, they should be there. Yeah, and it's actually free. Variety of Sound page, they've just released the 64 bit version, the 32 bit had the same problem. It looks like it's the plugin, though. I've also tried in Reason, for 2 out of 3, and it's got the same problem. So the setting doesn't get stored in CW and Reason, but it gets stored in Harrison. Weird. interesting to see what the difference is with them. I've also reported the issue to VoS. Really cool delay, weird looking, but cool. One of my go tos, and I've got a bunch of them. I haven't used the PC in a while, cause now I'm a huge CLA Mixhub fan (which also has a problem, it doesn't store intermediate compressor release settings between some fixed resolution points, and it always reverts to the closest one of those on open, which I also need to redo on every open and it bugs the s*** out of me - logged a report with them, most of what I've reported they've fixed, but this one still lingers), so I don't remember exactly, it was either the order or the on/off state of some modules that I had to redo every time I opened a project. No, I don't change them at all, that's the thing - I mean, not willingly. It's a set it and forget it kind of thing, only the "set it" part doesn't work. In the meantime, I have given up even setting them altogether, cause it takes too long to do - hence the menu issue - and it reverts back to the old resolution the next time. I don't know how much an all-in-one settings window would take to program, but it would be a big simplification for adjusting that setting. I appreciate the detailed answer.
  19. I've attached the link here. https://we.tl/t-O3sckikbzg You will need Addictive Keys (Electric Grand) on Piano, T-FM on Orga, AAS Player on Synth and Orgi Biserică (Church organs), SSD 5 Free for the furthermost left drums, and Tony Coleman Drums 16 Out, to insert yourself - all as instrument tracks, except for SSD, which has individually routed outs. To reproduce: Delete all TCD tracks, including the group Aux, as those were added subsequently. In the resulting layout, delete the Piano track, then insert TCD 16 Out from the right click Insert Instrument menu command. Choose route to master. Then bulk undo both of them from undo history. Last night I made several moves after that, which got bulk undone in the process - some observations there, as well - but they were not related to synth inserts, so they shouldn't matter in this individual matter. Another thing I have mentioned previously, and was never addressed, was the synth names are displayed wrong, in all projects, on hovering the mouse pointer over them, in the rack - IF the rack window is smaller than the area of the racked synths AND you scroll down. I don't know if the track switch, in this case, was made in accordance with possible wrong names displayed that way, but it would, no doubt, be interesting to check. Hopefully you can reproduce it. If we're on the topic, the order of the Rack, Browser and Help windows, in the right side dock, never gets saved with the project. Neither does the Show/Hide Arranger Track state in the Track View. And neither do the Meter Options, in the Track View. Also, NastyDLA doesn't save its Wet Only state, which I thought was because of the plugin, only I've noticed it doesn't happen in Harrison Mixbus. The order of some One Knobs - or the on/off state, I don't remember - doesn't get saved in the PC strip. So that's five more things that could get fixed for the next update. And on the meter options topic - the intricate menu, with a million individual options, to click on separately, is criminal. How about one single menu option - "Meter Options" - which open a dialog window with bullet checks for all the options, so you could set them all at once, in a single place, instead of clicking about 20 times, with three level menu branching for each, to set them all, like now? That would be a significant simplification requiring no user sacrifice/adaptation.
  20. I agree with you, it's easier in terms of assignments and I/Os, switches, sound auditions, inserting and changing synths, and so on. The problem is you also get a lot of tracks for every instrument, and it gets messy to navigate and instantly tell which is which, and tiresome to follow. Intuitive is being able to do without thinking, on reflex or common sense assessments - for instance, if you were new to it, etc. That's why I suggested the idea above, which gets the best of both aspects, and is more logical, in principle.
  21. Thanks, Andres, no, it was a bunch of stuff - basically everything got switched with everything - Addictive Keys with SSD, two instances of AAS Player and one T-FM, all randomly switched places after a cascade undo involving the deleting of a synth track and creating a different one. Might have to do with the multiple output assignments, which it can't manage right. Maybe it got fixed in the 06 #2. I split all tracks, reassigned I/Os, and regrouped them as instruments, and that solved it, cause you can't easily track assign synths from the rack, which would have made more sense. I don't get Instrument Tracks - they seem to be neither here nor there. There should be output/mix tracks - those in the console, and source tracks - those in the sequencer, which would be of two kinds - MIDI and audio. The FX box of the output track assigned to the source track would be available in the source track pane in the Track View, just like now, for quick edits. And you would freely associate synths with source/MIDI tracks, as well as output tracks, from menus in the rack. Maybe a button to lock associations, if you're afraid you might screw up something. And that's it.
  22. Nevermind, I've solved it. Lost an hour of my life. Maybe the problem would get solved in the near future.
  23. CW just messed up all the track-synth associations, in the middle of a project. Anybody know how to unmess them?
