  1. http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Mixing.07.html this has a slightly different diagram which may (or may not) make things clearer
  2. Hi there, it would be helpful if you can provide more details. What virtual controller do you mean? Screenshots might also be useful.
  3. there are so many different ways this could be done but here is one. If all the tracks are routed to one bus and the reference to another bus you can just toggle between the two busses to save muting lots of individual tracks. There are other ways using folders or groups
  4. I have the AKG 702's for mixing\mastering have a similar curve to the 712's but less pricey. I have recently bought a pair of status cb1's specifically for tracking as they are closed back (less bleed)and not expensive. plus they are good to sense check mixes without calibration as they have a bass end boost.
  5. Working here on Win 10 20H2. I still have both 4 and 5 running. As Kevin mentioned, I imported the speaker profile from ref4 directory but the headphone profiles I picked up from 5. I am assuming you have tried a reinstall of 5? I know the first time I installed I hit an issue so reinstalled and all was fine.
  6. @pwalpwal it is $89 now not $119 they dropped the price a couple of days after release and offered refunds to those who had paid $119
  7. have you got safe headroom enabled? If so this is most likely the reason for the drop in level The system version uses windows drivers as opposed to ASIO I have no issue with mine so perhaps you are using windows audio with CbB and this is the cause this may also help https://www.sonarworks.com/soundid-reference/resources
  8. Safe Journey Lars, I will keep you updated on the share price
  9. Running 20H2 here with no problems. Sometimes Windows updates re-enable sound devices that have been disabled. Worth a look at device manager perhaps
  10. I hear Elon Musk is considering dumping bitcoin and buying Lars Shares! The Wall Street Journal has said that the sudden interest in these "Shelby Stocks" means there could soon be a public flotation
  11. Is there any truth in the rumours Francisco Partners are considering a move for @cclarry?
  12. I just got the quiet music bundle including Serenity now I am tempted to give Dumpster Fire a go and mangle those crickets
  13. You can try dragging the imported track up to the timeline to map the tempo but this can be a bit hit and miss with full tracks. I find if you google a bpm website, there are some which give you a tap tempo option. Play the track in CbB and tap along on the web page to work out the song tempo then change the project tempo in CbB to match. If you want to check the metronome is in time, you can switch the metronome to play on playback. via the button on the control bar
  14. what happens if you use edit>select>none and then export?
  15. Got myself sorted out. My bank's website now automatically redirects me to the Deals forum
  16. Seems they have revised the prices. Good to know they listen to opinions. How much does the upgrade cost? Upgrade for Headphones is $39 / €39, for Speakers and Headphones $89 / €89. For those who upgraded for a higher price until today, you will get an automatic refund. For information about other upgrade paths and prices visit sonarworks.com
  17. Having used Sonarworks for years, I think what they are doing is having another crack at an end to end solution. They tried a while back to launch a mobile app which would translate sound at the consumer end and I think the idea is to have SoundID as the branding for the studio software and the mobile app. I agree though that the translations for different environments was available before but they cut it back due to copyright issues. I assume they have now done a deal with Yamaha to use the NS10 name and so on. The big add ons with this version is the customisable eq translations and the ability to filter which parts of the sound spectrum you want to be affected by the translation which they didn't have in previous versions. As an aside, that issue with coming out of the daw using ASIO and into Windows audio for YouTube etc. Is usually down to windows sound settings not matching and from memory you have to have the sample rate\bit depth set to the same value as ASIO for all enabled audio devices
  18. To be fair, I shouldn't complain. It was far worse when I had GAS Blocker enabled on my browser.
  19. Considering a class action lawsuit. One more click to get to the deals forum (or should I say sub sub sub forum). I reckon I will get RSI from all those additional mouse clicks.?
  20. Good to hear you had a crack at solving it yourself. Without knowing how much you know about midi I can provide a bit of info which hopefully you won't find too simplistic or condescending. So Midi volume is based on a scale of 1-127 with 127 being the highest and it is known as note velocity. You should find that the harder you hit the keys on your keyboard, the louder the sound, as in theory (if your keyboard supports note velocity) if you hit the key hard it can hit 127, if you hit it softer it will be less. So the keyboard itself has no effect on volume other than hitting the keys harder. In order to hear what you are playing, louder through the software, look for a volume knob on the virtual instrument you are using. Most have an output volume knob. If that is not an option all you can do is turn the track volume up. Note that in Cakewalk you have a choice of one simple instrument track which combines audio and midi or you can have split instrument tracks which separates the audio and midi into two (or more) tracks. You can then turn the fader up to get more volume on the audio track. You do need input echo enabled to hear what you are playing if you are playing along to another track. The other option is to route the keyboard to one bus and the backing to another bus (or busses) and manage the volume balance from the busses
  21. @jonathan hanemann yes you always have to deal with compromises. Guy from Disclosure has a twitch channel which is really good. He has a top of the range Macbook Pro and UAD interface and he still has to have a different side chain click track for the UAD because it is always slightly later than the DAW click track. Firewire and Thunderbolt interfaces will be faster than USB but even then, once you have a number of tracks with a load of plugins enabled it will slow things down if you are recording as opposed to mixing. You will often see tips on these forums where it is recommended to record at lower buffer values but mix at higher values. i.e. record at 256 but mix at 512. The best thing to do is record everything you can first with the minimal amount of processing then once you have finished the recording phase then mix to your hearts content with as many plugins and processing as your system will handle. With mine which is not particularly high end (time for an upgrade methinks) I can still manage around 60 tracks+12 busses with all the effects (eq, compression, delays, reverbs, amp sims, limiters and vst instruments) running before it starts stuttering on playback, providing I have nothing else running such as browsers, email clients or anything else adding to network traffic.
  22. others may have better ideas, but I have used this in the past. https://vb-audio.com/Cable/ use it as an output in your remote audio source application and as an input in recording application. Disclaimer: I have used this method with OBS but not tried it with Cakewalk.
  23. Good Work! the only suggestion is that the perc hits are a bit to dry and forward. There is a Youtube vid that might help with placement https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3pCGU3bIPEc

  25. I agree with those replies above. In fact I often get the sound I want with the amp sim, then when I record I use the global fx bypass. You do lose a bit of mojo but your part will be in time, it is always a trade off if you add lots of sims and fx and then record as each one will add latency (some more than others)
