I hope that the midi out of your audio interface is connected to your Daw.

It's clear that you cannot use ASIO because you don't use ASIO drivers. What is your audio interface?

The only way I kow to remove plugins is to click start button and choose "Control Panel". Inside Control Panel you have to open "Programs and Feautures". Here you'll find all your programs and plugins. Here you can unistall them.

It is necessary to spend some more money.

I agree with you bitflipper. In fact the funniest and strangest thing is that I owned Avast free antivirus for a long time and never appeared to interfere with Cakewalk VST scanning. As I said at the beginning this issue appeared after a Windows update.

I've excluded C:/ProgramFiles\Cakewalk\VStplugins from antivirus scan. All right.

After closing a project it hangs for some 2 or 3 secondss. It''s normal and depends of VSTs and effects you used in the project.

After unistalling Avast Antivirus, I've installed a new antivirus and after that CbB VST scan runned smoothly. I can not understand why CbB suddenly scanned my antivirus that I own from 5 years. Mistery.

Check the setting of your audio interface too.

Sometimes I've found that this kind of problem happens when there were some drums bars that I deleted. In fact the project stopped where the deleted drums part ended. In these cases instead of the deleted drums bars it was possible to see a void dark grey strip long up to the end of deleted bars. It is sufficient that with the smart tool you push the dark grey strip until the point that you want that your project ends.
