It seems that you can only move to whole sample positions (which makes sense). Depending on sample rate and tempo, those positions may not align precisely with musical time. So it's inevitable that there might be a small offset between sample and bar/beat. You can check that by adding a sample ruler. That said, grid lines shouldn't disappear of course.
