  1. Is your objection that they are text-based with sub-menus that open up instead icon-based?
  2. I keep forgetting--"Just post the video and don 't worry that people might not get the association." ?
  3. Connection: "Hey, Murray, is it true . . . ?"
  4. Now I am wondering where my first MIDI interface is. It was a Sequential (for the Commodore 64). That led me into dabbling with assembly language programming with MIDI on the C-64. The interface "manual" (more of a guide/booklet) had all I needed to understand how to access and send MIDI data using the chips. Not 100% sure, but I seem to recall it also had asm code segments (setting the chips, reading the registers, etc.). Thank you, Dave Smith!
  5. Re: GUI Unfortunately, the fonts (and images, too) used in Syntronik 2 are still way smaller than Syntronik. Wish they had font/image scaling. Nice to see some of the filter and other parameter issues fixed.

    MIDI Track Mute Q?

Thanks for the link to the prior discussion. I see that I called the "Input Echo" button a midi thru button (based on my experience with hardware modules).
  7. Correct me if I am wrong, those are switches. It is unclear if by "go between" the OP meant an on/off controller or a continuous controller.
  8. Yes, that's one that does show up, but there were others, too. The ones I had in mind might be buried because of the proliferation of sites related to DAW-based PRV that weren't on the internet 10-12 years ago. Not sure I bookmarked the ones I looked at back then. Who knew they would become buried.
  9. Congratulations on getting the changes to work on Channel 16 so the style changes work!
  10. That's a failing score in my gradebook.
  11. No need; I don't do anything with Python, but thanks for the offer. Moreover, I was expressing hope that you can successfully create an *.ins file that lets you use the midi commands to do style changes. It made the workflow easier for me with the Roland Intelligent Arrangers.
  12. If you are talking about the SYN2GB and you want all the Multis, I didn't get them added to my products until I chose all of the "freebies." Since I already had Syntronik 2 Full, once I picked up the 11 new ones I really didn't need another set of licenses for the SYN2 versions of the "Classic" Syntronik Instruments--except to get the Multis. Disclosure: I did not learn this from IK Support; I learned this from the good people at the Cakewalk Forum. So, I don't know if IK subsequently changed their system, but if you are talking about the SYN2GB and you don't have the Multis listed under My Products but you do want them, you might want to select all the freebies.
  13. I remember a previous discussion about this. As I mentioned my experience with style changes was with some Roland Intelligent modules. These were relatively easy to understand and implement compared to what I read in the PA600 manual. It was rewarding being able to embed midi commands to change styles and related controls. I hope you can master the PA600's controls.
  14. A few years ago (maybe 12-15?) someone at a neighborhood yard sale was closing up shop, so I made an offer on the lot of piano rolls he had left just so he didn't have to cart them back into the house. Clearly, they are the antecedents to MIDI. Does anyone not know that? "Play notes X, Y and Z. Stop notes X, Y, and Z." BTW, there are some dedicated fans of piano rolls who have developed methods for converting them to MIDI. Fascinating stuff, if anyone is interested.** **UPDATE: HOLY CRAPPOLA!!! I haven't looked up "How to convert piano rolls to MIDI" in quite a while and the internet now seems to have become overrun with webpages about DAW-based piano rolls. It is hard to find the sites I had in mind. There used to be a number of excellent sites, including details on how people have built piano roll conversion hardware.
  15. Based on information that comes up with the search for "Jonald Blip," I recommend that this thread be closed. Not saying that all threads from hit-and-run posters should be closed if they don't reply within an arbitrary, just this one based on all of the info that's "out there."
  16. A very important person with a Ph.D. did a video on a live stream a day or two ago and made it quite clear that VST2 is dead (Experience Neutron 4 by iZotope with its Developer Dr. Cory Goldsmith).
  17. Interesting. I didn't do new project in an older build yet. I did load the 22.06 EA basic project into last June's release and saved variants with different solo states. After that I began working on a bass + drum loop groove (in 21.06). I will add a few more single take layers and then try comping a track with a bunch of test takes. After saving that I will create some variant files with different takes soloed. I haven't ruled out that there might be something going on with my settings. Again thanks for the follow-up.
  18. Thanks for taking a look and for your comments @David Baay. I didn't think to go back to earlier releases. Using variant saves of the basic test project I created with the EA Release (different *.cwp files with different takes soloed), I just found the same issues in Version 2021.06 (Build 057). I did not try creating a new project (and variant saves) with the same workflow steps yet.
  19. Tried to find out more about CLAP and found others also use CLAP. I mean they use C-L-A-P as the name/acronym (as opposed to using CLAP the plug-in format): CLAP (Careworks Learning Apprenticeship Program), Command line parsing with clap, Rust Command Line Argument Parsing (A Better Way With Clap), etc. At least with VST people they embedded confusion that promoted their company when people didn't know what VST stood for (Virtual Steinberg Technology v. Virtual Studio Technology). And with F'em, that was an intentional in-your-face reference.
  20. Found a solution by changing the background color instead:
  21. Has anyone found which color element is used for the Workspaces Box's text?
  22. I have been making extensive use of Workspaces for several years and never noticed the "Desktop Lamp" until now when I grabbed the dialog box and looked at it enlarged to 500%. So, thanks for mentioning the existence of that too-small-for-me-to-see icon.
