  1. I am having the same issue. Paid version. I'm really done with subscription based software / this era of how technology lasts and is paid for. I miss the days of buying a product, entering a serial number, and it working from there on (at least until machine death, usually many years later.)
  2. Hello everyone, Has anyone else found that the new Sonar specifically sometimes has strange or laggy behaviour when adding plugins to the FX bin? I've never had this with any previous version of Cakewalk / Sonar, and certainly don't have it with Cakewalk by BandLab (or any other DAW, obviously.) When I right-click the FX Bin to insert an audio FX, much of the time it's fine, but quite often there's a very noticeable delay and nothing happens, or something happens later. Or even - despite me not clicking anything after - it will do things I haven't asked it to do, like "Bypass FX Racks of this Type" or "Insert FX Chain Preset". I do use both those functions obviously, but in these instances I certainly haven't asked Sonar to do them - and they occur after I've right clicked more than once. It's not specific to any particular update; I've noticed it ever since switching to the new paid Sonar - and if anything it seems to have got a little worse. It happens periodically / randomly whether projects are "busy" or very simple.
  3. Thank you very much! I will try this. Edit: it worked, of course! Great. No problems so far on this new build.
  4. It seems like a good update, with a speedier load - although is there any way of bringing my old Sonitus FX DX plugins back? They've now disappeared. I know they're being replaced by the VST 3 ones, but on some of them (the compressor and reverb) I much, much prefer the old interface. It would be nice to keep the choice. I tried adding them back in with the plugin layout settings but they simply no longer appear.
  5. None of the above methods work, unfortunately. The download won't install (keeps saying I have the wrong version of Sonar, even though I followed the above steps) and the first method (accessing Product Center and selecting 'Download and Update) doesn't stop me being locked out either. I paid for a year subscription. I got up early to finish a cue to a deadline, and now can't export it. This is quite disastrous for the project I'm on. I really can't afford for something like this to happen. :-(
  6. Thank you for answering, but I've always used workspaces a certain way without this happening. I have found a workaround from other users who have been having this problem - if I immediately close the project and then re-open it again, all the Zoom settings are what they once were (as had been the case in all memory of Sonar.) Or the same happens if I open another project. This "collapsed view" issue only happens to the first project I open in a music session. I learned the workaround from other users reporting the issue (though kind of noticed other projects worked fine after the first bit of work in the haze of these deadlines!)
  7. I also have this problem, and like the OP it clears up if I open another project, or open the same one again. It doesn't seem to be to do with Workspaces.
  8. Hi David, Thank you for the kind response. I'll admit I wrote the O.P in a bit of a frustrated state after a few crashes, it is true. Normally I like to be more constructive, and there are still many great things about Sonar. In some ways I regret the O.P now! Such are the effects of a deadline, lack of sleep, and software crashing just when you need to deliver cues. You're probably right in that many of these bugs are in fact old (except the trouble I'm having with view/zoom settings, but I've reported that.) Thanks again for your post.
  9. I'm a long time user of Cakewalk, having been with the program since Home Studio 9. I generally found the old free Cakewalk by BandLab very stable. It hardly ever crashed, and everything worked as I'd hope. And whilst it's true that saying something generally "has a lot of bugs" isn't so helpful in ironing them out, there are honestly so many hiccups and bizarre behaviours going on since I switched to the new Sonar (and I'm doing the paid option) that I don't know where to begin. Crashes, things copying and pasting in strange ways, projects having random changes when I open them again (the last two to happen were sudden lost / clearly broken automation upon re-opening a project - something I am certain I didn't do - and even more strangely, suddenly all tracks being routed to a new soundless output - I had NOT done that either!) - and generally crashes where the program simply has to close.
  10. Thank you for sharing. The thing is, I never had to think about any of this stuff until the last two updates. For many years I'd resize tracks, zoom in and out, and whenever loading a project it'd be wherever I'd last left those view settings. Suddenly, now, *whenever* I open a project for the first time, it is zoomed entirely out. I then have to re-do it all, every time. Nothing has changed at all in my workflow - this only started with the new updates.
  11. Hello, I have been having a problem since the last two updates, which is that projects never remember my zoom settings. I have never had this problem with any version of Cakewalk or Sonar before (have been using Cakewalk since the days of Home Studio 9). Usually, when I'd open an old project, tracks would be sized as I'd last left them in all previous versions of Cakewalk and Cakewalk by Bandlab, and zoom settings would be the same as where I last left them. Now it is always zoomed out, which is very time consuming to deal with upon opening a project every time...
