Proud Dad Moment! 😀 My sons auditioned for the Golden Key Competition with this piano duet by George Bizet. We just found out they were awarded Gold which means that later this spring they will perform this in the recital at Carnegie Hall! Here's their audition video. I thought they killed it! 😀

Nice. I like the idea of trying that approach.

Thanks!

Thanks. Just a little touch of eq, nothing too heavy. I wanted it to make sure the recording did a good job of faithfully representing the sound.

Thanks Nigel! It's been an interesting journey with the ukes.

Things You Do When You're Done (NEW 2025.02.05)
jwnicholson78 replied to Barry Seymour's topic in Songs
I've only listened to the final version, so I didn't hear the work in progress, but the end result is excellent. Vocals and acoustic guitar sound great, and there are lots of other nice little touches in there. -
Whether it's punk or new wave, I thought it was a cool. I like the overall sound and the effects on the main vocals, although they distorted to the point where it's difficult to understand. I did find the contra vocals a little distracting, since they are spread so wide and a little more upfront that kind of sound like they are in a different space than the rest of the song.

Outstanding, The saxes sound awesome, and I loved the bass line, too.

I listened to Coney Island Nap. Wonderful ambient soundscape. I enjoyed it. Thanks for posting.

Missi my dearly departed hound, she will be missed

So sorry to hear about Missi. Thanks for sharing your story and song. It's a fitting tribute. jeff -
This is the other demo song I put together for the 3D printed guitalele. This one is played on a soprano guitalele with an even shorter scale length of 13.6 inches. It's tuned to C, so even higher than the super soprano. Comments welcome! Jeff

It's been about a year and a half since I first went down the rabbit hole of designing 3D printed ukuleles. The newest addition to my family of ukes is a soprano guitalele (or guitarlele, or ukitar) - a cross between guitar and ukulele. It has six strings, tuned like a guitar, but the small body shape of a ukulele. The song is cleverly called Guitalele Song. I'm playing it on a super-soprano guitalele, with the body size of a soprano uke, but a 17 inch scale length. The super soprano is tuned to A, rather than E like a guitar, The video also serves as build instructions. In case anyone here has a 3D printer and wants to make one the files can be downloaded the files at https://makerworld.com/en/models/1091773#profileId-1085361 Feedback on the recording/mix is always greatly appreciated. Below is the full family of ukes.

Thanks. I already am in production

I wish, it would be a lot cheaper Thanks for the feedback!

This time around I designed a tiny little uke that's a three-quarter scale soprano, and only 15 inches tall. As small as it is, I was pretty happy with it sounded, so I recorded this little tune as a demo. The hardest part was actually getting the tuners right. I'm curious what folks think. Jeff

Thanks Bjorn, When we go on summer vacation, I like to use the early morning hours to write a song, with the goal of finishing it before we go home. I find the deadline focuses my attention. No time for second guessing jeff
