Hi Scook... I found this post from you through a search and I have the exact problem of wanting to bounce a drum track that uses a Drum Map. I've watched this short video several times but I'm not understanding something and have not been successful getting to the same end result you show. My question: Is the goal here to create two linked tracks, or to modify one track? I can easily do the first step to temporarily remove the Drum Map, but if I stay in that track and use the pull-down menu to "Make an instrument Track", that option is grayed out. So I made a new Instrument Track and put Cakewalk TTS as the output. That gives me two tracks, the MIDI Drums track with "Virtual Controller" as the Input and DM1 as the Output; and a second Instrument Track but I don't know what the Input should be since DM1 is not an option. Would you please help me out with more detailed guidance on how this should work with the end result being a Drum Track that I can bounce to Audio?

Waves V12 users: Read before installing the 2021.1 Update
NOLAGuy replied to Noel Borthwick's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Hey Max... I just started getting the 05 error myself (again). A few months back I fixed it by doing a Waves "repair" option as suggested on this forum which worked, but did not work yesterday when I tried that. Was just about to report the problem to Waves Support, but sounds like you already did that and they issues you a patch/fix to install? Do you recall the Waves tech support name that handled your issue? It might save a step if I direct a message straight to him. Like you, it only affects certain projects, so I can work on other projects, but good to know Waves solved your issue (and hopefully will do so with mine as well)! -
Yes, your last sentence is the real issue, "The project will play on in silence ad infinitum." There is nothing beyond the actual project endpoint. The only recourse is you have to be at the monitor to hit the spacebar to stop Cakewalk from playing on. As mentioned by several commentors, a lack of being able to insert an "Endpoint" is a true nuisance problem, and hopefully Cakewalk tech folks will figure out a simple way to include it on a future release.
-
You may want to also review this earlier thread. Answer seems to be that there is no way to "force" a project end marker into a project. A couple of workarounds have been used but when a project doesn't end and keeps going ad infinitum, Cakewalk needs to develop an "Insert Project End" marker. https://discuss.cakewalk.com/index.php?/topic/25072-audio-tracks-not-stopping-at-project-end/
-
Yes, exactly. Last year, I was told Cakewalk development would consider the change for future releases, but I hadn't seen any references to the problem in the updates released by Cakewalk, so I posted the question on this forum, in case I missed a change. Seems like a fairly simple change... place a marker on the "ruler" and end the project when it reaches that point. Ah well....

Hi Lynn... If there is a way to insert a MIDI note into an Audio track, I am unaware of how to do that.
-
I agree that one doesn't seem able to set an End marker , but Cakewalk does put a graphic 3-dot triangle mark at the end of MIDI tracks. I've been thinking that represented an "End" marker. So, if I may ask, when you record an audio track, does it play back past the recorded end without stopping? If so, do you have a preferred way to stop the playback?
-
Please excuse if this has been answered. Tried various searches to no avail. On my projects, MIDI tracks have an "END" marker at the end of each track, but on my recorded audio tracks, there is no "END" marker. What happens is that Cakewalk reaches the end of my recorded audio track and just keeps on running until I actively stop it using the mouse/keyboard option. I always have the Stop At Project End option checkmarked, but it does not seem to work on recorded audio, logically because the audio tracks have no Project End marker. I have previously contacted BLCakewalk support in mid-2019 about this issue, and they appeared to acknowledge the problem after reviewing my submitted sample project, but replied that they would add it to the list for future "fixes". Not sure if others have the same problem, as it may be some unidentified setting in my Cakewalk, but in it's simpliest form, Is there a way to force an "END" marker at the end of an audio track?

I checked in with Waves Support on this issue. Officially from them... "Please note that the REPAIR option in Waves Central is not limited. What it does is simply reinstalling all Waves files, you can do it as many times as neeeded." (1/25/2021) I believe that the above post was referencing the Licenses Recovery option, which is to be used only in case of lost, stolen, or damaged USB flash drives or computers - Reactivate & Recover Licenses . Given this clarification, it appears that if Cakewalk is crashing at startup per this thread, Waves Repair does fix the problem per my experience, and can be used as often as needed.

I'm having trouble finding a download for this. There is a post on the Cockos site that Sonic Anomaly plugins were no longer available, but maybe that was the for purchase ones. Anyone have a "safe" download site to get TriLeverler2?? UPDATE>>>> I finally found a site with all the Sonic Anomaly plugins... http://www.vst4free.com/index.php?dev=Sonic_Anomaly

BTW... where can I find out how to take and post a video. I've never done that, but would appear very helpful in troubleshooting. -
msmcleod... Curious what vocal rider plugin you use? I'm only familiar with the Waves Vocal Rider product.

Well, based on Craig Anderton's suggestion and FIP GeBall's guidance, I did the suggested "Repair" in the Waves Central app. Took about 10 min to complete, but it says it repairs all the installed Waves Plugins. I've played with Cakewalk about an hour loading, modifying, saving, and reloading about 10 projects and Lo and Behold... no crashes!!! I hestitate to claim that the problem is now resolved, but it sure looks like it's fixed! Suggest others with the same crashing problem try the "Repair" solution. I already filed a support ticket earlier today with Waves Support, so I should hear back next weekand see if they suggest doing the repair as well. Thank you Craig and GeBall!

I use a Plugable 10-port USB 2.0 powered hub for the music PC. Also use a Plugable for my desktop PC setup. They've given me good service.

Matthew.... It sounds like you were able to tie the problem to a specific plugin? If so, which Waves plugin was that? I've been unable to trace the problem to a specific plugin, and will also contact Waves Support to see if I need to get a modified version of all v12 plugins that I use.
-
I am also having the same problem. Previous projects that were working fine, will crash upon opening with the same popup screen error message. I did a complete reload of the 12 Waves plugins that I have, and for the next Cakewalk session, the projects that crashed previously worked. But when I exited Cakewalk and started a new session, the project that worked a few minutes earlier crashed with the same error message. I tried to isolate which plugin might be problematic, but there is no consistency. One project uses 5 Waves plugins and crashes. Another project uses those same 5 plugins plus two more and works fine. I have not yet contacted Waves support as I wasn't sure if any others were experiencing the same problem. I am running Win10-64 in an I7 PC with 16g RAM, and latest profuction Cakewalk version.

The underlying problem with using Scheps Omni Channel from Waves, was my never reading the Waves instructions on accessing/changing presets. For most plugins, I use the (Cakewalk?) standard plugin navigation, where I use the uppermost Preset selection bar, which generally opens a list of all available presets. This also worked on all my other seven Waves plugins. However, on the Scheps Omni Channel plugin, the Waves guideline which is to use the Waves toolbar for preset selection applies. All the blowups I experienced were due to some change made on the Cakewalk Preset selection bar, even if accidental, e.g. if you mistakenly use the CW Preset Selection bar and try to delete the entry, seems you cannot undo the underlying problem even if you get back to the default preset selection "Full Reset". As long as I use the Waves toolbar for preset review and selection, it works fine, i.e. saving and re-opening projects with no problems. I've noted the problem with Waves Tech Support and they replied they will forward it to Waves product development as a "fix" suggestion. Until some future time, use the Waves toolbar for preset selection with the SOC plugin.

Acewhistle... Is the Cakewalk Export->MP3 writing out an MP3 file and the problem you're having is that Win Media Player is unable to play it? Try Muting all except one of the tracks. Select that track, and Export->MP3. See if you get the same error. It sounds like Win Media Player is unable to read the Cakewalk output file, so best troubleshooting step would be to open a project and insert a MIDI track. If you don't have a MIDI file around, just download one from the web (Google MIDI song) and try using that with Cakewalk Export.

Checking if anyone is/was experiencing problems using the Waves plugin Scheps Omni Channel (SOC) with current versions of Cakewalk running on Win10-64? It runs fine on my Win7-64 implementation using the Waves v10 version, but I'm trying to migrate to Win10, and most things are working well. On my Win10, using the Waves v11 version, I cannot reopen a project that has SOC on a track. Cakewalk crashes with an "Unhandled Exception" error (c0000005) with a reference to the Waves "Wave Shell9-VST3". If I use the v10 version with Win10, Cakewalk crashes when I try to save a project with SOC in it, but doesn't show an error screen . I'm about to report the problem to Waves tech support, but I suspect they may try to suggest a Cakewalk issue.

Hello Mic... I just got the Scheps Omni Channel this week. I demo'd it for 3 days and had no problems, but I never tested saving a project using SOC on a track. I purchased SOC and started to use it on a single vocal track. Worked great while I was was playing around with it and trying various presets. Only issue I had was that often the selected preset would change to a preset above in the list, whil changing parameters or something. Minor issue. However, I save the project as a .CWB file and next day tried to open that proect and Cakewalk (newest version, using the Waves 11 version, on Win10-64 PC) crashed with an "Unhandled exception" error (Code: c0000005). Cakewalk will crash everytime I use SOC with a preset and save the project. I tried using SOC without a preset and it saves and reopens fine, but if any preset shows in the Preset box, even "Full Reset", the crash happens. I will be contacting Waves about it Monday, but will experiment using and saving SOC on my Win7-64 drive where I'll try with the Waves 10 version. Like you say, I really like what the SOC does and want to use it successfully. I think there may be some problem with the way it accesses the presets while loading. Will update this post when I find out.
