BandLab won't send me the security code via email when I try to log in. Any suggestions?
Also, when I try to activate CbB it asks me to log in, but CbB says I'm already logged in.
Thanks for any help.

I've been trying to reactivate for a while now. I hope someone is looking into this.
Thanks.

Are you physically swapping these drives or are they permanently connected? And how are you choosing which OS/drive to run as C? If they are two physical drives connected, I would start with checking your UEFI/BIOS, since that is where the C drive is designated. Two physical drives both with an OS on them can confuse the crap out of that, so it may be trying to determine which drive actually has the "OS" on it. A little more insight into your situation would help us understand better.
Yes, physically swapping them. When I was installing the other drives, (see above), I would open the BIOS to reset the "C" drive. but typically the BIOS follows the swapped drive as the 'OS' drive. Thanks for your reply.

What happened just before this started?
Was there an install? Update? Etc?
Was there an uninstall?
Was there a change in environmental conditions? Weather? Power? Hardware? Cabling?
I have 5 additional HDD's in this computer and had recently replaced them with new drives. I had kept them mostly disconnected as I worked through the new installs but lately hooked them all up. I tried disconnecting them again and that seems to have narrowed down the issue. I'll now go through them one at a time and hopefully find the culprit. Thanks for the help.

I have two swapable "C" drives in my computer. One for my business, (win 7) and one for music, (win 10). Lately both of them are taking a really long time to boot, up to 30 minutes. Any thoughts about what may be causing this?
TIA

Which support did you contact? I'm having the same problem except my email is on another "C" drive in my computer, (I use two "C" drives. 1 for business, emails etc and 1 for music). So obviously I can't use the 2FA which emails. Can this be changed to a phone call?
TIA
I installed MailWasher on my Music drive, (it allows me to view my emails on the server instead of downloading) so I can just copy the 2FA code and paste it into the login. Interesting though, when I went to open CbB it just asked me to log in and did not request the 2FA.
When I contacted support I also asked this: If I upgrade to the new Sonar, will it still phone home all the time? Also, if I don't renew my subscription will I still be able to use the program? and this was their response: If you upgrade to the new Sonar, it will occasionally check in online to verify your subscription status, but it doesn’t constantly "phone home." If you decide not to renew your subscription, you’ll still be able to open and access your projects in a read-only mode, but you won’t be able to save or export until you reactivate your membership.
I guess I missed this in the discussions about the new subscription system.

This is getting pretty ridiculous. I've had to do 2FA every time I've started Sonar today. Sure, I have to do 2FA to gain access to quite a lot of sites these days, but that's mostly when I'm out travelling and start using a different IP address. Also, I have absolutely no problem with 2FA when it comes to things like banking or card purchases. But every time I start an effing DAW?
C'mon.
Are you saying that every time you open Sonar you have to sign in with BL?

That MB will run a PCI 3.0 without issues (see the Expansion Slots section). Years ago, I got a STRIX GTX 970 to replace a dying GTX 580 in an old machine. Your PS should be fine with most cards, but check power consumption and design of them. NVIDIA owns the architecture, not the manufacturing design, so there are variations on cards by manufacturer due to this.... the 970 came in 3 major variants and one had cooling akin to a jet engine, which was why I went with the STRIX design at that time.
The 730 has a benchmark of 834 on the "High Mid Range" list, so if you scroll around on the "High End" listing you can find price points that suit your needs for a replacement (can search that page for "GTX" to get a feel for things), but the 9-series models might be the best bang-for-the-buck for you (and significant improvement in performance). Both the GTX 980 and GTX 970 have similar price points; but again check the design/specs of anything you consider to ensure it suits your needs.
Hi Mettelus.
Thanks again for your help. I was able to find a used, (like new) 970 and with a little board modification, it's up and running!

Hi All. I've been running this box since 2016 and the graphics card has died on one side so I'm looking for suggestions to replace it. Specs:
Power Supply = Corsair, Rmi Series, RM 850i, 850 watts
MB = Gigabyte Z97X-Gaming 7 LGA 1150 w/ 16GB DDR3 ram
Processor = Intel Core i7-4790k LGA 1150
Graphics = Gigabyte GEFORCE GT 730, Nvidia GT 730/Rev 2.0, PCI 2.0x8/2GB DDR3/64 bit. D-Sub/Dual-Link DVI-D/HDMI
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I ended up doing the clean install which included all the previous versions of Sonar I had installed, (Sonar 8, 8.5, X2 & X3, Splat & CbB). What a pain!
CbB did open at that point but I could not open a project file without a crash. I began to open project files via “Safe Mode” and after a long and arduous process I identified the plugin that was causing the problem. Unfortunately, I have no idea what was causing the initial CbB crashes.
The project file crashes was caused by BReverb but I think I initially installed the wrong version. If I remember correctly, there was a problem with BReverb at one point and an updated version for Sonar was released.
The problem with CbB crashing might have been a Win10 update. I keep this computer offline but whenever I need to access the Web, it sneaks in an update and I don’t always see it.
Everything seems to be working as it should now. Thanks for your help.

Problem is Cakewalk was working fine - then all of a sudden it will not open.
Equipment: Dell desktop with Windows 10 Pro 64bit
CAUSE: In my case it was corrupted creative soundblaster Z driver - or possibly a ##@&G@! microsoft update!
SOLUTION:
1. I uninstalled all Creative SOFTWARE
2. I shut down computer and REMOVED the PCI-E sound card - restarted - then shut down again.
3. I reinstalled the sound card & restarted computer
4. Still had original Crative install CD - installed all driver and software.
5. Cakewalk opened again!!
Thanks Ralph.
I've uninstalled my Focusrite drivers and Control software as well as Sonarworks SoundID Reference and CbB will still not open. I really don't want to reinstall CbB but that's what support is advising, a clean reinstall. I'm concerned that doing a complete uninstall will wipe all the previous versions of Sonar I have installed. While getting everything back in is possible, it's a lot of work!

Well, I've tried everything I can think of except reinstalling CbB. Guess I'll give support a call and see what happens.
Thanks all.

I was in the same boat a couple of months ago when I installed my M-Audio Hammer Pro 88. Everything was working until I shut off the PC. When I started up again, I'd get the splash screen for a few seconds, then gone. I contacted CbB Support, who led me through several steps. Ultimately, they had me do some registry edits, which fixed the problem.
Thanks much for that.

You can reset Cakewalk to it's default settings by holding down CTRL while opening Cakewalk.
Thanks Mark. I'll give that a try.

Mmmm ..... probably things you have already tried. I would make sure the program is updated and activated and connected to the internet (Bandlab assistant). Make sure I have good drivers for sound interface / card. Try other DAWs like Fruity Loops / Fl Studio, etc etc and see if other DAWS can see and use sound card. Windows restore point if it was working before?
Hope this helps.
Thanks much, James.

I have a fairly new install of CbB on Win10. I've been working my way through various issues but so far it's been working. Last night I got my Frontier Tranzport installed and was hoping to track some vocals this afternoon. When I started Win10 and clicked on the CbB shortcut the program refused to open. It would put up the opening splash screen and after one or two seconds, it would be gone. I've tried everything I can think of but it's no go. I uninstalled the Tranzport drivers and even updated CbB to the latest version, (I think, as it won't open, I can't check that).
I didn't try to open CbB using the executable file inside the program folder, (don't see that making a difference though). The only other thing I haven't tried yet is to completely uninstall CbB and then reinstall. I don't really want to go through setting it all up again. I was able to open other programs, even Splat.
Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

It's the VST that causes the number of changes - not CbB per se.
VST's are meant to wrap parameter changes in beginEdit/endEdit calls. That way, for example.. initializing a preset which alters 20 parameters is seen as only one change. Some VST's dont' do this, meaning it's seen as 20 changes.Automation can also trigger "changes" in the VST depending on the VST.
Thanks Mark. That's interesting as the only thing that's different is I've moved to Win10 and I don't remember ever seeing this before. I'll load up some other projects and see if I can locate the VST that's causing this.

Some software instruments count up the number of changes just by playing the project, which easily triggers Auto-save.
Thanks HIBI. True but I don't think CbB is one of them. Either way, after setting it to 100, it made no difference.
FYI, moving my Waves Licenses to a thumb drive did solve that problem, (at least, so far...).

I been having some problems with my Waves licenses, (they keep deactivating), so I moved them from my HDD to a thumb drive. Lo and behold the Auto Save began to work properly! After a few hours of editing it began to start saving more often than the setting. Not as bad as before but still.... Very strange. I'll see what happens tonight. Any thoughts would be helpful.
Thanks. Paul

CbB V2021.01, Win 10 is not following the Autosave settings. I normally set it to 5 minutes and 5 or 10 changes. It saves almost constantly. I can raise it to 100 changes and it still saves after several moves. I think this may have been discussed a while back so if anyone could kindly point me in that direction, I'd be grateful.
Thanks. Paul

Hi Paul,
As a person who was sincerely trying to offer the best info I possibly could based on what I know. I still pulled that answer out of my butt so to speak. I hope the concept at least helped some.
I simply see the ear as a pickup device which in your case is lacking in some areas and needs correction. Whether the correction is in two steps: Hearing aid>Headphone correction........................or one step. Headphone correction for flat response based on your ears. To me this would be the most comfortable.
In any case I'm not sure how we could get away from two curves. Certain frequencies may have been especially hyped in the hearing aids and they likely were going for intelligibility as a goal over a flat response. ....and I hate to say it- if certain parts of the ear are 'dead' to certain frequencies, then nothing is going to help that.
It's easy to suggest having this info but probably much more difficult to accurately obtain it, and this is such an individual thing that one case won't be like another. I hate to suggest augmenting with visual representations of the audio like a spectrograph, but maybe that would be helpful?
The thing is you won't know if you made a good mix. You will only know you made a mix that sounds good to you. The real proof is to see how it sounds to others who you totally trust after you think you have it ironed out.
Good luck!
Thanks Tim. I'll know more when I actually get some hearing aids. I think you're right. The hearing aids I would need would likely be designed to hype frequencies that increase intelligibility vs. flat response so I'd probably not wear them while working on music. If that's the direction I go, that solves the issue of wearing aids, glasses and headphones. I've worn glasses since I was in my 40's so I've overcome the headphone and glasses issues.
Thanks to everyone for your responses.
