First things, first... I would have paid for CBB at any moment, had they asked me to! It would have been worth it, it is/was the best DAW Ive seen. - The reason I left is simple- the cloak and daggar nonsense got to the point, I no longer wanted any part of their offerings. It wasnt a tease, its was basically "we're not sure whats going to happen, but somethings is going to happen" from the Devs. * For the record, I went with Studio One + for about 8 months, and finally just purchased outright. * - It makes me laugh when I see people dare mention the word "marketing" in the same sentence as Cakewalk or Bandlab. There IS NO marketing team... WE ARE the only marketing team, and Cakewalk barely gets a mention in the typical "What Is The Best FREE DAW" conversations. lol. I'm pretty sure "Tickle Me Elmo's sound byte toy" gets more mentions. That is truly embarrassing, Cakewalk should have been in the "best overall, free OR paid" discussion. And now, it gets even less discussion, as a paid product. - Creative Sauce bailing is a nail in the coffin, as it was the best thing Cakewalk had going for it. And you KNOW that if he bailed, **** is bad. Pretty much his whole existence was because of the Cakewalk users. - He has been warning y'all at CBB for a long time now, and you chose not to listen. Don't forget to shut the light off, when you guys (have to) leave.

'Cakewalk marketing'... haha, thats a good one. If a department actually does exist, they are the worst in the business. Pretty much nobody even knows about Cakewalk, yet it is probably the best DAW out there. (at best, most people confuse Cakewalk for Bandlab, and think of it as 'that cute little beginner software.' Such a shame. Because it really is/was such a great DAW !!

Truth told, I would have paid for Cakewalk all along. (I expected to, when I was seeking it out in the first place)

[CLOSED] Cakewalk 2024.02 Early Access
jfrommichigan replied to Morten Saether's topic in Early Access Program
Same here!! I spend more time messing around with themes every day than I do playing/practicing. I don't really record much, I use CbB mainly as a hub/backup band for jamming alone at my desk. (including real instruments and a lot of VSTi) - I look at theming as a hobby, but if I'm being honest with myself... it's near 'addiction' status. -
I haven't seen anything... any chance you could share a link, for us? Much appreciated !
-
Good grief. Some are so eager to start swinging... The topic was/is 'why Cakewalk doesnt get the respect/recognition' To which I repeat, Cakewalk isn't helping itself create excitement. - For the most part, the 20 or so active members here, who examine the updates and/or have used Sonar since 'back in the day' are NOT the ones in need of convincing/targeting. Put the gloves down, guys... it's not personal.

That's a really good way of putting it !

Cakewalk themes not accesible on D drive
jfrommichigan replied to ManuelGuerrero's topic in UI Themes
There are a ton here, readily available. Rumor has it, we won't be able to customize or create/edit themes with the new Sonar, so I think many have given up (I haven't) the hobby... I wouldn't expect many more. -
Oddly enough, I seeked out Cakewalk, when I got back into the hobby a couple of years back. It was from memory of what I thought was the "goto" DAW. I had no idea it would be free (I was willing to pay) - I think these days, for as much as we are bombarded with advertisement, DAW useage comes more from "word of mouth"/recommendation. - Reaper has a rabid fanbase (in a good way) who are chomping at the bit to share knowledge. - FL (don't call it Fruity Loops we are all 'growed up' now) is ALWAYS going to come up when the "I want to become a producer and make beats, which DAW should I get?" question is posted on message boards. This being said, Cakewalk is doing itself NO FAVORS with this 'you're gonna have to pay, and we aren't going to tell you anything about the new software, but it will have a new (read: "same but uncustomizeable") user interface. Aaaand the only section/thread specifically hyping up/passing time/increasing excitement here on the official forum... was locked. (and by the way, I'm kind of sick of seeing members here, tell anyone who asks to basically 'shut up and wait.') Now, all that I really see regarding Cakewalk is the question "so, what are you switching to?" Even I AM about 10 minutes from jumping ship. And I really don't want to.

Thanks for the help, guys. Yeah, I was speaking about the Note Names/Drum Names on the grid above the keyboard. - I could swear I saw one person, one time with black letters... but I guess it was just wishful thinking. Thanks again, I absolutely LOVE lurking this section of the forum.

jfrommichigan started following "Thank you" from a lurker and Drum Map Edits?

Has anyone found a way to change drum map colors? The gray/white is really tough to discern on my laptop (it's not AS bad on desktop, but still pretty tough on the eyes)

Creative Sauce: How to export CbB songs for use in other DAWs
jfrommichigan replied to User 905133's topic in Tutorials
Mike's videos are pretty much the 'goto' when it comes to Cakewalk video instruction. But, man...seems like each video inches closer and closer to "Exit Strategy" status... -
Wow. Sorry about the image size. I wasn't expecting to show up so... huge

I just wanted to say thanks for giving me some confidence to attempt Theme Editing. After checking out your creations, I decided to do some 'trial and error' testing. A few months later (slow learner) I finally got the hang of it. - Anyway, I just wanted y'all to know there are people who enjoy your work, and maybe don't log in to say thanks/give credit. Side note: I play piano scales every morning at 6am, and this is my theme I use for my (morning ritual) theme. (hex is 1379c9) Cheers !
