I bought Tai Chi lite last year and while it sounds really good, I still ran to Pro-R2 or Arturia verbs for everyday purposes. I decided to upgrade to full Tai Chi last night and holy hell, what a difference. This thing is really something. It's a "colour" reverb and yet the rooms and spaces sound more full and rich (dare I say realistic) that most of the verbs I've collected over the years. I stayed up way too late last night and can't wait to put it on a few more drum busses just to make sure I'm not losing my mind. Keys and guitars NEVER sounded better with just a little wet signal, and the controls provide the perfect balance of flexiblity and ease. I'm not a tinkerer, and Tai Chi is right in my wheelhouse. I did get Illusion and Seventh Heaven Standard (love those stacked discounts) and while they both sound amazing in different ways, I can't believe how many ways Tai Chi can get used across my mix. That free kit is really nice. I had SSD4 but the workflow just didn't jive with me and the SSD5 update wasn't really an update. Not like an SD2 to SD3 update, anyway. It did have some new kits that improved upon SSD4, but again, the workflow. SSD 5.5 has a new AI beat generation tool but I would go for EZD3 before SSD5 - the kits are excellent and Bandmate (if you learn it and use it) can generate beats and more. SSD5.5 is at the lowest price I've seen it - $50. I'd still go for EZD3.

Yeah, it's my go-to for clean tones. Still love it.

Love it - I'm a Vangelis and Tangerine Dream fan through and through so this is a definite "thumbs up" from me. The last minute gave me such a Tangram vibe.

Thanks, Mark. That’s high praise considering the tracks you have posted. I have not spent any time on this part of the forum, so hearing everyone’s work is a blast. So much talent. My daughter initially insisted on the tempo change but I’ve sent her a mix where I timestretched the chorus vocals and it sounds so much better. But hey, I’m just the guest musician and producer - what do I know. I came in to work the songs after much of the structure was determined (and vocals were recorded.) She’s 5 hours ahead so I’ll hear the feedback tomorrow. I have to believe Slate VSX has helped in how/if this translates from my largely untreated room. thanks again for the feedback…looking forward to digging into your songs when I’m back in my music room.

My daughter wrote a bunch of tunes earlier this year and let me produce them for an album. She got through sketching with stock instruments and a ton of vocal tracks. I had a blast this summer working them over with plugins that she had no idea existed or how to use them, bless her. Kind of embarrassed to say I've never even done this amount of work for my own tunes, but she's a much better songwriter than I am so I guess this all makes sense. Anyway, I learned a ton. Still some "wish I would haves...," funky levels and such, but time was of the essence as she was moving out of the country for a gap year abroad.
