    Lonely Walk

beautiful Gary, really very nice. My only crit is that the strings that first come in are a little dry (to my taste anyway) and could be dropped back in the mix - they overpower the piano at that point. Levels from the big drum onwards are spot on
  2. Nice, spacious mix Paul. Melody is very catchy and lyrics are great
  3. Nice wall of sound Michael - I can't get over how much like Tom Petty you sound vocally. I can hear Beagle there in the background - lovely.
  4. Rock on Bob - killer hooky chorus
  5. lovely Bats - immense in fact. I also like your slightly unusual snare sound there
  6. Hi Wayne - you look just like your brother This is really nice - well recorded, well performed and the video is great fun.
  7. Hi Kakku - I hope you are well. This is very nice - maybe bring the hi-hats up a bit?
  8. great fun and the video is fab. The mix is a bit muddy as you mention. As a very quick fix, you could just try throwing an eq on the master out - each instrument level sounds about right.
  9. sorry it's taken me a while to come back and catch the remix - drums are much betterer. Everything sits in there.
  10. this is really nice Steve - I also love the synth work on this - it really suits the mood. Vocals are also excellent Are you sure she wouldn't reconsider?

    Ordinary Day

great stuff Olivier - really nice performance
  12. Bollocks Thanks mate Merci Olivier. I thought the same on the vocal - will remix later. Thanks a lot Bjorn. I think you may be right on the brightness - I wrestled with the mix on this one for a while. I'll revisit when my ears a fresher.
  13. Hi fantastic forum folk Here's a new song I've been working on for a while now. Nits and crits welcome The Art of Romancing Written and performed by Staypress Backing vocals by Liz Greenway Middle bit lyrics from an idea by Ed Kocol V1 I'm trying to get to know you better Tried to send a text, send a letter Nothing seems to get through to you I'm gonna change your point of view Prechorus It's a wonderful thing The joy you can bring With the art of romancing Ch Do you like to dance? Are you up for some romance? Whats your stance? Do you wanna take a chance with me? V2 You're like a manual for a mobile phone Hard to read and hard to leave alone Before this wonderful night is through Tell me what I can do for you Prech Ch Middle bit trying to get through to you Losing bars under the stars Trying to see your point of view Then this night of romance could be ours Prech Chorus

    Grandparents

Very touching Bjorn. I love seeing old photos and the formality compared to today's rabble I spent a very pleasant few days in Sweden last year and found the people very warm and welcoming.
  16. lovely oh furry one. I'm sure all of this positivity will inspire you to do more of this. Next step - add in some synths a la Switched on Bach.

    Sunrise

wow - what an undertaking! This was obviously a labour of love. Vocals and playing are excellent - really impressive. The hook is also a very nice earworm. Mix-wise, I thought drums/percussion sounded a little 'squeezed' and tinny - sorry.

    Lone Wolf

right from that first guitar chord, this had to be one of your tunes Freddy. Really enjoyed it
  20. Hi Doug - I hope you are well. Love the groove and your choice of chords. As Tom says there is a bit of a tuning issue but I think you get away with it. Backing vocal ahh's sound the shizzle and you just use them enough. I'm trying to work out what the solo instrument is....
  21. that piano is beautiful Tom - really nice. I like the Talking Heads rhythm guitar over the ethnic beat. Lots of nice changes throughout to keep the listener engaged. The 6 minutes flew past and I never got bored. I didn't realise you could rap in Swahili.
  22. bloody great Ken - LOVE the verses.
  23. Great vocal on this one John - sounds like you are really in your element. Also the vocal treatment fits the song perfectly - love the dry, upfront verse.
  24. Hi Lynn me old mate Before reading any comments above, first thing that hit me was the drums getting drowned out by everything else and they should be the driving force in my opinion. Sounds like you need to strip back and get the drums right then bring everything back in. Great lyrically and performance-wise but sounds like everything is fighting for space in the mix.
  25. very cool - I really like the groove. Lyrics are great and the vocals draw you in
