I just demoed it. I replaced the reverb on an acoustic guitar track, had it listen to the audio and saw what it came up with.  It was sublte but appropriate. There is not a "mix" knob I could find so to change the reverb you have to mess with other parameters.  It seems useful and maybe would even be more useful if you placed it on many tracks and had it do its group thing. The reverb itself did not seem to be anything different from any other reverbs (hall, plate, etc.) but then again I don't have golden ears like some.

However, It used so much CPU that my project started to crackle and glitch whenever I moved one of the controls.  There is no way I could use this on more then one or two tracks like they suggest.

Your experience may vary so I would suggest to try out the demo.

Yeah.. I haven't demoed it yet.. debated on just buying it anyways.. So low priced.. but thier first reverb plugin I bought, I don't even use because it crashes Reaper DAW on my computer... So, I have up on it.. with you saying there's problems like that.. I believe it.. it seems the programming has gotten worse after them creating Smart Limiter.  The most stable plugin they have is Smart Limiter in my opinion.  Smart EQ 3 is more stable than Smart EQ 4, etc.. their plugins ability to be stable is very questionable.. So I've been avoiding their plugins.. after Smart EQ 4 and Smart reverb 1 with stability issues with crashing your DAW during usage.. and that could kill your project right away.. So if you plan to use those plugins.. save save save.. save your project frequently.. Those plugins tend to crash a lot.

So after you mentioning how high The CPU usage of this new plugin is, I highly believe you.. I don't even need a demo it.. because of all the problems I've had before.. The only plugin I use from them.. Is smart limiter.. I'll sometimes use smart EQ4.. but what I really use is hornet thirty-one MK2 If I'm going to use an EQ.. It's very stable, doesn't crash, dependable, and I use it on my multi genre songs.. I'll use also. Ozone 11 standard for EQ.. I've got more EQs that I can shake and stick at.

What I don't understand.. is why they don't test it more.. Maybe put out betas.. So those who actually have their plugins are already.. could try out their plugins first.. during in beta.. So they can fix all the bugs first before trying to sell it. I just don't think they have a competent enough programmer.  And they want to call it smart this smart that.. Yeah cool that's smart.. because they're not so smart..

So there's more reverbs you can shake and stick at.. There's so many companies that came out with new reverbs this month it's crazy.. I got plenty of reverbs.. I Don't need my reverbs talking to each other..

If you want all your reverbs controllable.. You can always set them up on a hardware piece with knobs.. And while you are listening to the music, you can change the reverbs effects, just buy twisting those knobs. No software required.. and I'm pretty sure a lot of you do this anyways.. Just set up your MIDI.. set up all your reverbs on those knobs.. and while you're listening to the song.. You can change those parameters at your fingertips. That's more stable than a plug-in.

  2. Despite my earlier saying.. I downloaded it, and I'll test it.. I used smart reverb 1 when I had an older computer running on Windows 10... I now run on Windows 11 pro.. so bugs may be gone.. If it's better, I'll let y'all know.. I've got to July 17 before they raise the price for me from $29 to $129..I think.

  3. The first one was so buggy, I had stopped using it.. I can't imagine a 2nd buggy reverb tool.

Sonible makes great Smart EQ and Smart Limiter plugins, but all the other plugins I've felt that was pretty buggy.. So more or less I stopped buying from them.. I got smart EQ4 and smart limiter.. and that's all I needed.  Smart EQ4 is still buggy, So when I have a project that I don't need it to crash.. I use my smart EQ3.

  4. Even with a discount like that, it's too expensive, while I have many other plugins that can do the same thing... Only if they had a version for the hobbyist guy.. the ones whom don't make money from  music, but with a clause that says if you make $5000 or more from music within a year, you'll be required to buy a PRO license.

  5. Instead of sound ID.. Vocoflex.. and basically have unlimited voices, because vocoflex let's you create a unlimited number of voices ...  if you use it with synthesizer V, you can then Have the singer sing how you want.  I just bought the bundle for $249.  I don't have to sing anymore.. I can now just type in words and put them on a scale with midi... It's totally offline after you register it online..  worth it to me.

Edit: I just give vocoflex about 10-20 seconds of me singing.. different songs sources.. and then use this little circle. Did I move in between each to find how I would sound best.. and then it blends all my voice samples to make me sound better.

I guess the only kicker is you're going to have to send in your government photo ID for thier KYC company thing to try and prevent abuse of this kind of software.. It is very powerful.. You could practically take any sound from anyone and have them sing how you want.. but they do this photo ID to prevent you from doing that because they embed it into the sound somehow..

That's a very solid choice! Something to keep in mind about NI Session Guitarist libs, though: they don't go to eleven above G#6.

If you don't need those higher pitched notes, you are all set.

Nice to know.. I guess if I need higher or lower pitch, I can already use a pitch tool like Waves Vocal Bender or Celemony Melodyne that can do the trick.. I bought Melodyne before it separated into multiple different products at much higher prices... So I ended up owning it forever as they progressed into the Studio edition..

Some people like punk rock, some people like avant-garde electro-acoustic symphonies that take 10 years to produce. You want simplicity, good for you.

If you want really simple, just slap some guitar loops together - that'll get to "ears" really fast, and it seems like the audience you're seeking won't give af anyway lol.

Yeah... Someone in this thread reminded me that I shouldn't really go for the best, and instead think that do I really want.. So I asked myself, who's my audience, and the answer was of simplicity, and not the best.

Eventually I'll come back to this thread.. and I will buy One of these other ones that are better than Electric Storm.. But for now it will do the job.

So your post isn't for nothing.. It's just delayed.. and I'll be back to buy another..

  8. Overall...

Whom will actually listen to this vs whom will be critical of it?

That’s the thing no one really answered.. maybe they don’t want to.. or maybe they just assume the ones listening are the same ones judging.. but they’re not.. not really..

i understand Hydra’s more powerful.. more real to the ones who know the difference.. more layers.. more mapping.. more everything.. but if i bought that.. knowing how i work.. it would just sit there until i had the motivation to learn it.. and even then.. i’d likely still use the patterns if it had them.. just like the others

i’ve bought plugins before that promised full control.. and after a while.. the only plugins i actually used was the one that got me there fast.. cause when i’m in the zone.. i’m not thinking about articulation sets.. i’m thinking about whether it sounds like it means something.. whether it hits right in the moment it plays

Most of my listeners.. they don’t even stop to think if it’s real or not.. they hear the song and either feel it.. or they don’t.. only a few people can really tell if it’s sampled or played.. and even fewer of those actually care unless they’re grading it

So yeah.. I’m picking Electric Storm.. not cause it’s the most true-to-life thing.. but because i can finish something with it..  I can get it out, ready it quickly, and create something fast.. and that matters more to me than if the pinch harmonic bends just right under scrutiny

I want something that reaches ears.. not something that waits for perfection and never leaves the DAW..

Have both. Shredded series are exclusively instrument libraries - no phrases, etc. And it's much much more sophisticated in terms of playability, with many articulations and enormous control over almost every aspect of the guitar, and realllly big fx section with tons and tons of presets.

For articulations, Hydra has Sustain, Power Chord, Tapping, Tremolo, Mute, Power Chord Mute, Harmonics, Choke, Staccato, Power Chord Staccato, Pinch Harmonics, Rake and FX. And the scripting is pretty good for key switching between articulations in terms of how a real guitar plays. And you can customize that key switching a lot (velocity, key, etc.) Also has strumming section, and some great features like single guitar, double, triple and quadruple layering. This last one is pretty awesome, for getting really thick tones.

Electric Storm is pretty limited, with only 4 articulations (as far as can tell) ==> Open, Muted, Flageolet and Tremolo. And has limited control over the guitar. But it does have tons and tons of phrases, which could be useful.

I would say if you want a really dedicated metal guitar library, that has a steep learning curve, but results that are much more realistic and customizable get Hydra. If you want something more minimal, just play and go, get Electric Storm. Would also say these two guitars sound completely different, so you might want to compare some Youtube videos showcasing tone / effects section.

I personally dont have a ton of time to "dig-in" and learn a whole instrument... I guess I could find midi files to buy of pre-made metal guitar playing and get Hyrda.. although.. right now it's not on any sale price that would make me think.. yeah.. let's get that.. although Electric Storm is in the price range of ... maybe.. if it was less, then maybe yes... plus I've seen you can actually drop the midi files into the DAW and further edit them... I watched the walkthru video for Electric Storm and seen you can do quite a bit more than people realize.. not as much as Hydra, but just enough to make it sound more real.. I wouldn't need to spend many hours  with Electric Storm and I think that is the whole reason of it..

I've bought instruments that have a complex huge flexibility, but they end up not being used... and I will often find something I can just throw on and use immediately with out much effort..

Overall.. .still looking.. but at the same time, I hate to miss a deal and wonder.. why I never picked it up when it was on a good sale..

Lots of metal guitarists can't get anyone to want to hear them play.  Honestly you could probably get someone to put down a simple track for you for free or close to it.

You probably right there.. I guess if I wanted to save money, I could "Youtube" find someone and post a question..  maybe have them join Bandlab to play against a song ... or suggestions?

The only bad thing about using Bandlab to find people is all you get is a majority of Hip-Hop Artists.. it's really hard to find any other genre other than Hip-Hop.

+1 to this... I mentioned this in my first post (custom GUI and not cheap), but it is definitely worth trying out. The "demo mode" had an obnoxious phrase in it when it first came out, but they changed that to simple noise. The presets/FX in that are nicely done too, but one reason why I grab that one most often is the guitar itself can be tweaked in more detail than others. It was $249 when first released (now $199), but goes on sale for down to $139 at different sites. IIRC, the demo doesn't have a time limit on it, just the noise added. They went into a lot of detail on the performance, so is worth trying out (be sure to also refer to the manual, as the MIDI map on that has some nuances also built into it (harmonics, a realistic "stop," an such)). If you get into that one, you definitely want to take the time to make an articulation map for it.

I would have, but I'm on a new computer and I have gotten rid of any plugins that required ilok for my new computer... i will for now on avoid all plugins that require ilok... and i found out that heavier7strings requires ilok.  So I won't be putting money on that.

Yes, I have. It sounds great and gives you good sounding results quickly because it comes with patterns that it can play for you at the press of a key. Which might be the reason why real guitar players look down on it. Also, you have less control over the sound.

Shreddage 3 Hydra (and also other Shreddage guitars) is also well suited to play that type of rhythmic guitar.
Look at some of the videos by Impact Soundworks on YouTube, like these:

So.. looking at this.. it's currently $149 even on Memorial Day weekend... so does it ever go on sale?

  13. I’m considering using Blue Cat’s Plug’n Script for development and was wondering if it’s permitted to sell VST/AU/AAX plug-ins created with it commercially. I didn’t see any specific mention of this in the documentation or FAQ.

Are there any restrictions or licensing requirements for commercial distribution of exported plug-ins made with Plug’n Script?

Thanks in advance for the clarification!
