  1. @synkrotron I have to agree. I don't quite get a headache, but definitely get bored. I respect their individual musicianship and tightness as a band, but I don't get into that genre of music at all. In fact, when I watched their live video, I found myself forwarding all the parts where their singer comes in. I think he sits backstage and watches the concert on CC TV or something, and then when his parts are coming up, he leaves the green room, hits the stage for his part, and then goes backstage again. Works for me since it's easy to see when he's on and off stage while in FF mode. Again--no disrespect. Just a matter of taste. ( I do like several of those Music Man guitars though! Wouldn't mind having one of those one bit!)
  2. Rode NT1000. Coming up on having it 15 years. I used to work in the pro audio department of GC and had the freedom to a/b a bunch of mics in their studio. I put the Rode up against Shure and Blue and found it just as responsive and 'colorless' as the others, but a slight bit quieter. The lower price made the deal for me. Since then, I've had an opportunity to work with their customer service department and they are awesome! They sent me a free hoodie for a mix up that wasn't even their fault! That goes a long way with me!
  3. When you address a post to someone, just start it with the "at" symbol, and then start typing their name (with no space after the 'at' sign) You will see their name resolve, then just press enter and complete your post like normal. The purpose is that they are alerted that their name was used, and it (hopefully) brings them to the post sooner. I 'at mentioned' you in my reply. You can see your name at the bottom like a tag. It's a social media feature.
  4. I think the 'at mention' function works in this forum--if you want to try it in your post. @jono grant
  5. My DAW is actually a really good one and I'm not seeing any dropouts at this point. It was more of a general knowledge question. In my current project, the PC works great because I can copy the EQ settings to another track(s) when all I need to do is reverse a Q carve-out etc. Since I was moving along nicely with that method, it crossed my mind about the resource comparison. I've got some tracks I can freeze if I start to run out of juice! ?
  6. Thanks for the buss suggestions. The settings are different in my case. I do have a buss comp for the 'glue' but I'm taming track transients and carving out EQ for balance, so I also need a per track solution.
  7. Yeah, I'm asking because I need to use EQ and comp on most if not all tracks. The PC would just have EQ and comp.
  8. Yeah, thought about that after I posted. Bad example. I'll update my post.
  9. Hey Group-- I'm trying to see if the EQ (glossy) and compressor from the CW Pro Channel typically use more or less computer resources than say, a comparable 3rd-party plug-in? Anyone tested that? Thanks, Stephen
  10. @James Argo Love your avatar! I remember that was the emergency stuck midi button in ancient Cakewalk, right?!
  11. Nope. I went from being a drummer, to loops, to drum sampled midi grooves, ala kontakt sampler. I do assign each drum to a separate track for control. Never used maps though.
  12. Let's see. Is Vegas Pro abandonware? Acid? Sound Forge? First owned by Sonic Foundry, then Sony. Now Magix. Does that make it abandonware any more than Cakewalk? Nuff said...

  14. What record mode are you in? See if you're in comping. Not normal behavior, but you should rule that out.
  15. I don't remember doing anything special when I installed Cakewalk for the first time, and I have V-Vocal as an option/along side Melodyne. I have found Melodyne to be superior to V-Vocal for my usage, but I left V-Vocal there just in case there was some need to pull it out of the tool box someday. Sounds like vibrato might be a reason to pull it out someday.
  16. I'm not sure which is more amazing...Bandlab saving the best DAW software in the universe from extinction, or that's it's been a whole year since they did!??! Happy Birthday, Cakewalk!
  17. Confirmed. Last night I re-corrected single notes that had been printed with corrections previously with no noticeable artifacts. Saved me a lot of time. Thanks all!
  18. Project 5-- Wow! The memories just started flooding in! ?
  19. OK, thanks all. That will save me a lot of time not to have to grab the dry vocal track and start all over again!
  20. Hey Group-- I'm not in front of my DAW right now, but I have a couple notes to correct in a vocal track that I've already applied pitch correction to and bounced to clip(s). I've got the original track of the dry vocal, so I can always go back and start again, but I wondered if any of you have applied Melodyne to a track that you'd already processed and printed with Melodyne ? Any audible artifacts when you do that? I record in 24/96 and have the 64-bit engine in CW enabled (if that matters here). I'm running the most current version of Melodyne Editor 4. Many thanks! Stephen
  21. Thanks. Well, I may be old, but I'm forgetful! I had actually duplicated a track and selected 5 repetitions when I noticed the notes were gone. I just remembered that, and so I tried it again, and guess what? It works! I guess my session needed to burp or something, but the good news is, I just tried 1, 2 and 5 repetitions and all had my track notes in them. When it failed before, it was a track with many takes in it-like close to 20. And then I made 5 repetitious duplicates and that's when it failed. I just tried a similar track (20+ takes+ 5 duplicates) and it worked. Good news!
  22. Thanks for clarifying. I guess I have a bug or something. I wonder when that started? It's a royal pain.
