For someone who has invested in orchestral sound libraries I'm missing the point of Analog Orchestra unless maybe you made a multi of it and used it on a laptop for sketches? Would be good for that.

I have the AAS Strum Session Sonar Edition that came with the old Sonar. I picked the Good Folks Guitar pak as my freebie thinking it would load into my SSSE edition. That particular Pak opens in the AAS player instead. Is there anything to gain from updating to Strum GS-2 from the old Sonar edition? They both look almost identical. The Sonar edition is VST-2. Still works and is loaded with lots of styles. I'm guessing there were limitations on the Sonar version?

I didn't know this existed. Thanks for the FYI ! Three out of four times when I think this program doesn't have something, it turns out it does and I never knew how to get to it.

Nice composition. I don't know where you get the backgrounds. They fit well with the music. -Tim

Ghosted MIDI notes showing in PR for all tracks. Please.

The video reminds me of the things they do in those secret organizations. The music fits it ok. Using this video with a few sound effects and pads could keep some people from sleep at night.

A very western (as in American west) song. I think of cowboys and cow pokes riding horses and camping in the desert when I hear this. I imagined one eyed Joe riding a buffalo too but that doesn't fit the narrative.

Very high level of video and audio production!

Creative use of those sounds. I seen the contest and was tempted to try it. With these things you never really know what they are looking for to win it? I would think having some sort of a melody would be helpful but what do I know? I guess the object of it is to have fun. If you enjoy making it that's probably all that counts.

Thanks antler for the suggestions. I will dig in on this one tonight again. This time using monitors and correction. I think I hear you saying that you noticed several velocity surprises. I will see about knocking those peaks down some. I plan to change the violin and cello to something else in my tool kit. Thanks for the other suggestions as well. I used Amadeus Symphony Orchestra here. On my last tune posted here I used VSL Big Bang Orchestra. The free one. After going through various libraries I would say VSL is the way to go. I will probably be upgrading to their basic orchestra. I am not into mainly producing high energy action film music so Eastwest Hollywood orchestra really doesn't appeal to me as much . Maybe that direction would work for you depending on what you are trying to accomplish. Although you can make any orchestra sound epic with a few tweaks . VSL can deliver in that arena. I made this one using mostly SONOVOX orchestra. It can be had for not much $$ and sound plenty epic.

Here is something I made last night. If you're anything like me the next morning is a real eye opener listening to a mix. A few things I know about so far- The violin vst is the Joshua Bell and I hate to say I can't seem to get it to sound like a real violin. In places the velocity is all over the place. This was not the fault of my pressure on the keys. It seems to be the way this instrument is set up to respond to anything. It has a wild arc from nothing to everything suddenly. Though I have the Tina Quo cello I thought I would give the Blankus Pocket cello a try. It seems to be presenting some nasty bottom end noises and thumps. I mixed in headphones so I would not annoy those sleeping. I forgot to use headphone correction. My headphones have a bump in the mid lows. This morning I listened to the mix on the way to work and it sounded very bad. Later it seemed to sound better on my low cost ear buds at work. I'm pretty sure I'll need to work on the overall mix. Suggestions welcome. -Tim

Thanks for sharing this. Interesting insights into the music construction. Proof that creativity extends beyond the instruments and into the DAW.

Well done. I liked the way you panned in time to the words. Harmonies are excellent and fit well.Clean mix. Good balance. ?

I appreciate all of the helpful points made about this mix. I plan to take another look at the mix and the flute in particular. There are at least two mindsets on the construction of these things. Some are more progressive and seldom or never return to the beginning themes, others do. Most movie music does. Much classical music does not. There is a repeat and a build of the idea and slight variations on smaller themes. I was trying to get away from "Movie music" and make it more like a classical production. Not sure I totally succeeded in either.

Here is a Celtic tune I'm working on. Any suggestions welcome. Edited to add I'll be back to listen to the new tunes!

I played three acoustic bouzouki parts into this first. Then I added the other instruments around it. Made in Cakewalk by Bandlab- Comments welcome.

I concur with Scotty I mean Douglas on this. Now where is that thumbs up thingy when I want it? ? Oh there it is. There are lots worse things you could be addicted to.
-
Hmmmmm. ?Good idea . Thanks! Thanks Douglas. Yeah I picture this one only a few hours before Henry decided to get rid of his 3rd wife. Seriously though thanks for listening! I know this music isn't your common fav. Great insights.

Great mix. Nice playing. With basically one drum beat the length is about right. Any longer and it might be time for a change up. A cymbal here and there of a fill would help. If you're like me you aren't a drummer though, so those things are easier said than done sometimes.

I remember listening to this and I must have been distracted when I went to post on it. Your soundscapes speak of other places in space far far out there Well done Wookie!
-
Very well put together tune and video. I am not familiar with your other work so I should check it out. I find this very engaging musically and visually.

Sounds very much like Jagger to me both in vocals and in style. The style itself, especially in the verses is, I guess, characteristic of a more mono tone vocal sung almost more like a conversation than the typical rock vocal.

Thank you David for listening and comments. Now I need to see what a sakbut is

From what I read I might possibly have MIDI loop back due to sending midi from both my controller usb AND a hardware midi out into my interface. I must somehow be getting both of those at the same time. The really odd thing for me is I didn't notice any playback irregularities. I only noticed this when I was editing data in the PR.
