  1. I moved Breverb into another folder that is not part of the vst scan for now until I can learn why it is causing the problem. Unfortunately, I have used it in a number of projects. So far all the projects load and can be run. I get the toast notification that the Breverb plugin is missing but the project is still accessible. Most of these are completed projects so I'll just leave them as is for now. For projects that are currently active I have (will) replace the Breverb with an alternative. A bit disappointing as I have used Breverb enough that I am comfortable with the interface and have found some preferred settings, but I suppose it never hurts to have options.
  2. I was able to download the WinDBG app and analyze some of the mini dump files. There were 10 dmp files, I analyzed 5 of them, all of which identified an INVALID CRUNTIME PARAMETER c0000417 BREVERB 2. I'm guessing that my next step is to uninstall Breverb from Sonar and try to load again. Other projects which have loaded with missing VST effects just gave me a message that effects were missing and would identify them. Unless anyone has different thoughts on how to proceed. Again, thanks for your help and for furthering my education!
  3. By empty, do you mean that none of the modules in a Prochannel are in use? Probably most of the Instrument channels in any project will not have any Prochannel modules turned on. I may have my 8.5 installation discs somewhere so I will attempt to find them
  4. There are a number of dmp files. I will get the windbg app and see what I might learn. Thanks.
  5. Yes, I meant VST loading. Sonar does get through the VST scan both when the program launches and when initiated from Plug in Manager. I will try the 'safe mode' approach.
  6. My 10 year old Dell desktop (i5 core processor/32 GB RAM/ Windows 11) recently bit the dust. I have replaced it with a new i5 computer, 16 GB RAM, Windows 11 Pro. Fortunately all of my existing projects were stored on an external USB hard drive. Through the Command Center I downloaded and installed Sonar Platinum then installed paid Sonar from the Cakewalk Product Center. I also installed many of the third party instruments and plug-ins that were on the deceased computer. I may not have yet gotten every one of the previously installed third party components installed yet as I am trying to determine what was there. Anyway, there are a number of existing projects that will not open in the new instance of Sonar. If I try to open them by browsing from the start screen some of them will scan vst's then say the project has been opened before returning to the Start Screen with no project open. Others will begin to scan vst's and then close Sonar entirely. If I try to open a project from Windows Explorer with Sonar open, after about 5 seconds Sonar will close. There are a few existing projects that will open but I have not been able to determine a pattern of what will or will not open. I have tried about 15 different projects, all .cwp files. 3 of them opened the rest did not. I probably have 50 or 60 projects total. The experience with Sonar Platinum is about the same, even with projects that originated in Sonar Platinum. I have created a few small projects on this current computer and those open and close as expected. These only have a couple of audio tracks and an instance of EZ Drummer. Any ideas on what I have missed or solutions I might try? Thanks.
  7. Thanks, jmmakesmusic. I was perplexed but I can see see clearly now.
  8. Glad you posted this. I just visited that forum and it already has some useful information. Beyond that, if you use CbB to produce your own music for distribution to streaming services the Bandlab membership includes that service. The Bandlab membership fee is about the same amount that I pay Distrokid for that service so that makes it pretty much a wash financially. Plus, if the submission process for distribution is tied nicely into the production tool there may well be a benefit there, at least in terms of efficiency. I'm not sure how that might work if you are producing other artists music as I seldom do that other than for demos. Still, that may be worth investigating.
  9. This is interesting. In my experience, admittedly limited, every Pro Tools operator employs punching virtually exclusively. While there are instances where that makes a lot of sense and is more efficient, there are many other times when it eliminates the the possibility of getting a better take or even a better passage than the one where just a small segment is being replaced with a punch. I have not really driven a Pro Tools system so I don't know how difficult comping is in that workflow, but there are so many applications where comping just seems to be a better approach and I am so used to doing it with Cakewalk.
  10. Make sure you have checked for updates to EZD3. There were some issues with the initial release but Toontrack did an update fairly quickly that addressed them. Latest version is 3.0.5. Second, are you adding EZD3 as a simple instrument track or as an Instrument Track per Output with a MIDI source track?
  11. Well, thank you. That was embarrassingly easy.
  12. I was doing some comping on an audio track this afternoon and when I finished and had done a bounce to clips I found that the clips pane no longer scrolled with the Now Time marker during playback. I did a search on this forum which led me to a related discussion from a couple of months ago. From that I went to the Options menu in the track view, Click Behavior sub-menu and discovered that the Left Click Locks Scroll was enabled . I disabled it but the non-scrolling behavior persists. Did I miss something or are there other thinks I can attempt? Thanks for any help.
  13. The newest ToonTrack update to EXDrummer 3 appears to have resolved the issue where trying to insert EZD3 into a project caused CWB to crash. Update available via the ToonTrack product page. I'm not sure when it was released but I just downloaded/installed it now.
  14. New EZDrummer 3 update appears to resolve the issue.
  15. Thanks, Terry Kelley. This worked for me. I do look forward to the fix from Toontrack however.
  16. That's it. Thank you.
  17. Each time I open Cakewalk I get the message box asking if I want to allow Cakewalk to make changes to this device. I am used to getting that message when installing an upgrade. However, since I upgraded to 2021.11 I get that message each time I open the program. Is this to be expected or am I missing a setting that will end that behavior?
  18. Thanks. I had not read that section and it has the best explanation of what is going on that I have read. Interesting that the Reference Guide recommends placing the Console Emulator first in the chain while Craig A. recommends that it be last. (Thanks for the link to that video, Jackson White.) I'm curious as to the reasoning behind each approach.
  19. Thanks, scook. Boy, that answer wasn't even that long ago. I swear I did a search before I typed all that out.
  20. I recently bought a Microsoft Surface device and have finally gotten around to trying to install CWB on it. I also have an installation on a desktop PC which is my primary. Anyway, I installed Bandlab Assistant, signed into my account, downloaded CWB and started the installation. What I figured to be about 2/3 of the way through the install it stopped and gave me this error message - DLL/OCX RegSvr 32 failed. Exit code 0x3. It gave a choice of 'Abort', 'Retry' or 'Ignore'. I hit Abort, the computer hummed away for a couple of minutes and closed BandLab Assistant. I tried again - same thing. This time I tried Retry - same result. I tried Ignore. It returned the same error message a few times so I finally hit abort. Then I thought I might try installing Sonar Platinum. Downloaded Command Center, signed in, downloaded Platinum, started the install - same error message at about the same place in the install. Microsoft Surface Pro 7, i5 processor, 8GB RAM, Windows 10 Home (updated today). Any thoughts on what to try next? Thanks in advance.
  21. I met Mike Balzarini at the booth at AES in New York last fall. He is a great asset for BandLab and Cakewalk. He is both knowledgeable and enthusiastic about Cakewalk by BandLab , an affable guy to talk with and interested in hearing user feedback. I hope he is around for a while.
