  7. Yep, go that. I just do my best to ignore that person. I even refuse to use his name and do my best never to directly acknowlege his existence.
  8. I feel compelled to state that anti-Semitism is a particularly sensitive question for me, one has a tendency to cause some horrible moral dilemmas. That being said, since I am not inclined to idealize men and since hero worshipping has always made me uncomfortbale, I usually manage to make a distinction between the art and the artist, especially more so since musicians in particular tend to be a very confused bunch of people who often can't really think clearly, and a lot of them would probably benefit from a little slap in the back of their pretty little head every now and then to bring them back to their senses. So I can despise Schumann the anti-Semite but admire his genius as a composer. Or the work of Jimmy Page, one of my favorite rock musician, while condemning him as the complete moron that he was for his little stunt in the Stortrooper uniform. Same for Bowie, although it is a bit more touchy considering that in his case, it wasn't just one isolated stunt. Not Wagner though. Him I hate through and through.

  12. I wholeheartedly agree. TNOTB is a phenomenal album - they really hit something with that one, they had some amazing songs and Dickinson was at the top of his game. It's also the first Maiden album I ever heard, so it's hard to be objective, because there's that aura around it. And those Hammersmith shows were also fantastic. Nevertheless, I could not call it my favorite. I'm really torn between the first two albums - probably in part because Killers involved Martin Birch and Adrian Smith, who's one of my favorite guitarists. As a whole, I feel it may not be as coherent as the first album, but even then, I just love those songs. The album takes you places but it retains that edge, that raw "punk" energy. Dickinson may be technically more impressive than Dianno because of his range and all, but at the end of the day, to me, Dianno was a much more exciting vocalist, covering a much wider range of vocal styles, with lots of emotion, and he had a grit that Dickinson just could never match. It's like asking an intellectual to reproduce what someone else does instinctively - usually, they miss the point by a mile and they don't even realize it. I still believe Dickinson was the perfect singer for The Beast, but as a friend and I were discussing a little while ago, he's more of a one trick pony. And with the insane touring schedules, it really wasn't long before his voice started to lose all those interesting harmonics. By Live After Death, I could hardly bear to listen to him - it was as if he was yelling that one note at the top of his voice for 90 minutes. I'm also not a fan of the man himself - although Dianno seems to be quite a character too...
  13. Venom - Aaaaaarrghh Armpit, armpit, armpit, argh Geet big f*ckin' armpit, argh Smelly f*ckin' armpits, argh Armpit, argh Argh! Not quite Dickens, but I think we can all agree that this contemporary gem belongs amongst the greatest masterpieces of English literature. Or is it litter-ature?
  14. Last time for me was 2015. Before that... 1994, I think. So 21 years between. I don't remember much of that 1994 one except that Soundgarden's Superunknown was playing and I was discussing the mix/production with people. I woke up the next day next to a girl I'd had a crush on for a couple of years. My right hand palm was also hurting and kind of blue-ish, and I eventually vaguely remembered playing congas and going a little nuts with it at some point. Might as well go out on a high note.
