  1. Actually as far as this goes I just opened Splat and it seems to be the same I forgot it was added then.

Your screens look different than mine. Notice the auto lock is highlighted.  I can't see that feature on yours? Possibly a Sonar Artist  version thing.

But the locks and pencil show the same for me in both Splat and CbB.  All I do is hold down ctrl while clicking.

The only hick up is If I say select four tracks and Put say track 4 in focus to edit, Now I see a note in Track 2 I want to Fix I can hold down CRTL and select track 2 and all 4 tracks stay there,  Track 2 is highlighted and can be edited, but the pencil is not highlighted anymore, I have to re click with Ctrl to re highlight it and then I can move to a different track using ctrl click.

  2. OK they all look normal to me. Those are all correct settings.  But I still think there's a audio loopback happening somewhere if the sound starts out quiet and slowly builds up. It could even be a certain plug in your using.

There's nothing generally wrong with using a Real tech audio system. I have that on my office computer and it's very good for just In the Box work. I've never had issues with the sound.

There is always the possibility that it is defective, after all they are having huge issues with manufacturing electronics right now. Not a good time to buy. Compromises are probably being made. The guy who cleaned the washrooms has been handed the soldering iron.

  3. Myself I just use the view on the right side in PVR to choose the track I want.  If you hold Ctrl and click other tracks they will open and the first track will be showing as a ghosted track.  In my screen shot I first selected track 1 Piano , held ctrl and selected track 6 strings. You can have as many ghosted tracks as you want. They show with locks. The one you edit has a pencil tools icon.

My default is only midi tracks but you can  also show the audio tracks using the filter.

I use 2 monitors so PVR is always full screen. But even with one screen you can double click the PVR tab of the Multi Dock and it will go full screen like you see in my screenshot, then I use the D shortcut to hide show the whole thing. I hate having that half screen view.

Might be because you have the side view hidden you didn't know the side view existed. Use the little double arrows to hide show or the shortcut H if the PVR is in focus.

  4. Watch this video and then tell me if it still not working

Problem might be the ASIO driver which is from 2014 has reached its end of life. But make sure you download and use it

You don’t want input echo on for recording audio especially with an interface that probably has 27 ms of latency ?

Use the monitor mix control set at 12 o clock so it’s a blend of the computer and the input. This gives you the desired direct monitoring of your guitar with no latency.
If you are trying to use amp sims forget it. You will need a better interface for that to work with out huge latency

Actually a very nifty interface. I used to have a 16 channel Yamaha mixer with the same drivers and it was very solid with Cakewalk. You’re definitely going to need to read the manual for this one.

  6. Ok if you did everything in my video and you still have an issue let’s try something else.

1- make sure to disable all audio input devices. You can start in Cakewalk preferences by unchecking all inputs. You can also do this in Windows sound settings as shown in video.
As I said in the video best to uncheck all devices  you are not using

2- in Preferences/Midi devices uncheck all outputs.
Make sure none of your VST’s have midi output selected but by disabling outputs this should not matter.

    There’s a possibility of a feedback loop ? happening.

Screenshots of your Audio settings and midi devices might help us troubleshoot

  7. Stuck notes are normally caused by the hardware not transmitting the note off message. This can be the controller, the cable, the interface and lastly the software.
In the old days this was often called a midi log jam because too much data was jamming up in the buffer.
Which is one thing you can try increasing the midi buffer s

  8. Yes exactly what I do. I’m not a good keyboard player so I often have to slow a song down to play the part. Guitar of course is no problem I would never try to record something I can’t play. That’s cheating. But midi cheating is what it’s all about ?

  9. For midi I just slow down the whole project. For audio I’m sceptical that time stretches will not trash my recording so haven’t used it.
