Jesse Screed

seven ropes, thirteen men

Recommended Posts

 I had a crazy dream

we were led into a room

with the flick of a wrist and a snap of the fingers

the herd was culled

seven went to the gallows

the benign entity nodded approval

the sycophants positioned the callous rope

just below the chin

I wanted to look away

but could not

into the eyes of fate and power

one and the other

it was with such resolve the arbitrator commenced

they all gasped together

some less than others

but all to the same fate

the ***** winked at me

should I cower?

Now that was "out there"   magic mushroom stuff!!!

This one was not for me...  but I just wanted to acknowledge I listened to it.  🙂

Jesse,

I think I get what you're shooting for but it's not my cup of tea.  I think the lyrics have a good story to tell but the song format doesn't hold my interest.  Even though you CLEARLY state this is an experimental song I hope you'll try again with a more traditional song format.

You guys could be right.   Sometimes I push the envelope way beyond, and then the bell curve flattens out, somewhere near the edge, this I know for sure.  It's all in the spirit of experimentation, and it beats being a phone jockey.

So thanks for the listen.

My next song posting will be a more traditional format.  I can do those too.   I just need to have some discipline.

Happy Holidays!

It's an interesting listen - I think I mentioned Zappa and Captain Beefheart before - I liked it better when you were more of a rock/pop writer - you wrote some really good songs back in the day.

Wild, and great. The title on your Soundclick has the men/ropes switched. How did you do the female / chipmunky vocal, is that your vocal, pitched up? The guitar part is actually pretty brilliant, to my ears.

cheers,

-Tom

Beefheart, Zappa, Wild Man Fischer; I/we have mentioned them all in the past.
Jesse is without any doubt a very unique talent; I think the last tune he posted I described as Avant-Garde.
I'm sticking with that.
Jesse, I'm sure, when the muse hits, and she fancies some traditional Pop/Rock, he will pursue it.
In the meantime, I say "Jesse, avant-garde on my brother"...

T

Just a note, this tune has way more "structure" than some he has posted.D
Doesn't make it "better" or the less structured "worse".
Its his art, he's hung it on the wall, enjoy or not: that's up to you.
