They've also included a new subscription offering: Studio One+ Hybrid. Looks like if you stop paying, you get to keep the current version of S1 you had. Not sure if you get minor-version updates, but this is a nice idea.

Studio One Hybrid is interesting, as you keep a perpetual license of S1 Pro if you stop subscribing.

Indeed, it’s $149.99 for an upgrade and $179.99 for Hybrid (paid once for the year).  The non-Hybrid cost is $19.99 a month.

I’m pretty sure you’d get all updates for the major version you ended up on.  Maybe it’d be a good way to go when you know an update is coming.

This (Hybrid) is quite a deal for those who’ve never purchased Studio One Professional.

Only available with the subscription

Yeah, I was searching for what "Lead Architect" even was, and there is absolutely no information on the PreSonus website about it (yet). As far as VSTis go, I do not find that video demo very appealing at all for some reason  (there are a bunch of similar VSTis not DAW-locked or requiring a subscription to use).

It did make me find an odd nugget right at the very beginning of the MSoundFactory tutorial video though (never watched it before). The second sentence in the video... "Most likely our last instrument..." It has been out 3+ years already and didn't know that.

They've been selling their own libraries for some time and no their are not any substitute for what you have.   Hopefully they don't get the bad idea of leaving out features labeled Pro  which only becomes a pro version providing you sub.  There's no shortage of perpetual DAWs out there.

This also seems to mark the end of buying the add-ons seperately for your existing perpetual license. 👎

So you will only be able to use things like Audio Batch Converter, Retro Mix Legends, Console Shaper, etc. with a Studio One+ sub, if you haven't bought them in the past.

Too bad - I had Retro Mix Legends on my wishlist. Ah well, I've got console strips, etc. from PA, United Plugins, AudioThing, and probably some others I've forgotten about.

...and just de-valued the Pro license I'm trying to sell by like $80 😂

I have to assume they will get rid of the normal professional license which costs way more since it makes no sense to buy it instead of Studio One+ Hybrid...

It depends. Someone said on another forum that the way the details are written, if you stop the Studio One + Hybrid subscription, you get a Pro perpetual license, but you can't update to the latest version, for example from 6.5 to 6.6. Seems to me similar to the Bitwig Studio subscription model.

I found this here, https://www.presonus.com/en-US/studio-one-plus-hybrid.html

What happens when I pause or cancel my Studio One+ Hybrid subscription?

If you choose to pause or cancel your Studio One+ Hybrid plan, your access to Studio One+ tools and features will expire at the end of the 12-month period for which you’ve already paid. From there, you will still be able to use your non-updating perpetual license to Studio One Pro along with extras like Ampire, and a library of samples, loops, and effects included in Studio One Pro’s core content library – all yours to keep, forever. Users on non-updating perpetual licenses to Studio One Pro can renew their Studio One+ Hybrid membership at any time to receive the latest updates to Studio One Pro and regain access to all Studio One+ features, tools, and content.

Will I get bug fix updates to my version of Studio One Pro after my Studio One+ Hybrid subscription has expired?

Yes, all minor maintenance updates will be available to you until the next major feature update increment. If you are on version X.1 when your subscription expires, you will be able to download and use X.1.1, X.1.2, etc. Version X.2 and beyond will be unavailable until you start a new subscription or purchase a standalone license upgrade. Prior supported versions of Studio One Pro will also remain available to you, should you need to roll back for any reason.

What does, “all point-point maintenance updates included” mean?

Major update increments are regularly released for Studio One. These major update releases, also known as "dot" releases (ex. X.1, X.2, X.5, etc.) add new features and significant enhancements to Studio One. Point-point maintenance updates (ex. X.1.2, X.1.3) are smaller updates made to address bug fixes and other software maintenance needs within a major update release.

I use Studio One 6+ for mixing and so I am not worried by this update.  Studio One 6.6 to me is like using 6.5.2.... whatever it was previously,  I still have the same mixing tools and it still works the same.

If you cancel the hybrid subscription you keep a license that you can't update for S1, but you lose access to all of the addons. So, to open a song made with the S1 sub, you'd have to pay again to have access if those are included in your song.

I think it's totally lame. We've been asking for the bugs in Impact and Sampler to be fixed for years, and that's never happened. Instead we get a paywall for the new synth with previously purchasable features no longer for sale.

Fender is boofooing Presonus the same way Gibson did to Cakewalk. We all know how that turned out.
