Phantom Realtek Device

Recommended Posts

I am using Cakewalk with a Behringer UMC 204 with the latest drives. Whenever I try and select  ASIO as the driver mode I get an error saying the Realtek ASIO driver is incompatible with Cakewalk. The motherboard does have a Realtek device, but I have disabled it in the bios. In Cakewalk Preferences > Audio > Devices, there is no Realtek device. In Windows Device Manager (Windows 11 21H2) there is no Realtek device. The ASIO driver work fine all the other apps I have installed.

Any ideas what's going on?

Thanks

Justin

Hi Justin,

I would guess it is the Realtek Asio driver still installed on your machine.  Try removing the drivers for Realtek.

Kind regards,

But the existence of an ASIO driver is stored in the registry, even if the device/driver is disabled in Device Manager.

Make sure

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ASIO

in the registry only contains an entry for the Behringer UMC 204.

If there is an entry for RealTek, delete it.
