Bassfaceus 8 Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) Hi all.. I use Sound on Sound as my preferred recording Mode Ive looked but cant find out how to nominate the take lane i want to view ( on top) when i collapse the take lanes. E.G. I have 2 Tambourine takes on the same track. one playing 16ths the other the quarters How do i see one and not the other and vice versa. ? Or also if i wanted to see all the take lanes when i go back to track view? Thanks Edited November 2, 2021 by Bassfaceus addition
John Vere 1,666 Posted November 2, 2021 (edited) Go to the documentation found in the help menu and read the section on using take lanes. Once you understand them it’s not hard to do what you are wanting. As well as there is probably a bunch of tutorial videos made. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jbiRKPYderY https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Arranging.48.html Edited November 2, 2021 by John Vere
Bassfaceus 8 Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) Thanks John.. as i stated in my original post.. i have tried to help myself i have watched that youtube clip and others as well as the online Cakewalk help but they did not give the answer im looking for.. i just need to be able to do something like what you do with Photoshop when you have different layers and you want to bring one to the front... Please can you just tell me if you know the answer? Edited November 3, 2021 by Bassfaceus
John Vere 1,666 Posted November 3, 2021 (edited) I ‘m sorry I don’t have an answer mostly because I never would use sound on sound. To me that’s a bizarre choice. A hold over from tape days. I always use overwrite and rarely use the lanes. I have a USB foot switch that is programmed with W and R and Space. But if I do use them I use a new lane for each take. I can see that if you use S on S then that would create layers all on the same track? I thought they automatically went to the next track? The whole concept of the lanes is the visual of your takes. All I can think to say is try recording using more than one track or lane as it is. Edited November 3, 2021 by John Vere
sjoens 479 Posted November 3, 2021 I use it. Are you saying I'm bizarre?!? You wouldn't be the 1st. You can rearrange Take Lanes the same way as Tracks: click & drag up or down when you see the double arrow cursor. This won't affect how they show in the main track tho. When TLs are collapsed (off) you can left click the desired clip to bring it to the top. Otherwise the last lane created will overlap others.
