Late Night Crazy

Recommended Posts

Hi guys I’m new to the community and new in general to producing solely “in the box”.  I’ve posted one of my songs here to get some honest feedback to help me grow my skills in writing and producing.  The song is a mix of virtual instruments and recorded guitars using virtual amps from Neural DSP.  Hope you enjoy.

Lots of nice soundscapes here man! You've clearly got an ear for what you like. I found this to be pretty internally consistent with the type of feel you're going for. It does get a little busy at moments. I'd love to see you pare back, but I like it.

Do you have a genre in mind or this just a touch of @Ross Manariti at this moment?

Mix sound reasonable here, some of it does get a little repetitive but that seems to be the nature of modern music as @Ruralrocker2010 suggest a breakdown in there would have been good.

I think Wookie and Rural have it right.

Sounds good! I could see it under the credits on a trailer.

Ross . . . nice first post . . . like your sense of melody here. At 1:48 when the guitar part comes in, seems you've totally switched from electronic to acoustic, especially noticeable in the drum kit. Seems almost like 2 separate songs, or maybe you intended that. Mixing is good, and I really like the virtuoso guitar emulation in the second half. Keep em' comin' ! Would like to hear more of what you're doing.

Getting an 80s vibe, love it. Welcome to the forum. Very cool breakdown guitar interlude. I dig the busy drums keeping it all moving. Nice slippery time signature as well.

cheers,

-Tom
