I have 2 questions on this. Is the only way to get to this dialog box on opening a project? I'd like to refer to this after I've opened a project because I'm in the midst of switching computers and want want legacy projects to open with everything in place just like they do in the old system. The second question is that a lot of the plug-ins or items listed in this particular instance are not in the project anymore and I cannot find them to eliminate the issue. There are no "V vocal clips" + I have no idea what "Cronus" stands for. I cannot find any of the listed items. Not in audio folders or anywhere on my system. Any suggestions appreciated!

Hi, I'm trying to activate any of the Cakewalk products (Sonar, Next, Cakewalk Product Center) but the past few days I have been unable to do so. Whereas I can log in to my Bandlab account via Google Chrome without any problems, trying to do so in order to activate any of the aforementioned products for some reason is something I'm unable to do. Trying to activate any of the products by going into the respective app and selecting whatever equivalent of "Sign into Bandlab to activate" takes me directly to a Bandlab login page, also in Google Chrome. After I log in with the same information I used when logging in regularly, I get this error: "Page not found; A broken link must have lead you here. Go back to the previous page and try again." I have already activated Cakewalk Sonar on two computers and Cakewalk Next on one computer, and I'm only using one at a time (and at most, two). I have yet to use even one install of Cakewalk Product Center but that still gives me the same trouble. I'm primarily a Cakewalk By Bandlab\Cakewalk Sonar user and am not in a position to use anything else for my projects, so this activation error is a serious problem for me. Can someone please help me solve this problem?

We're beginning testing of ARM64 versions of both Sonar and Next. Please complete the poll if you have interest in using/testing these products. Also, if you would like to beta test these, please respond to this thread to add your name to the list. Read this to learn more about what's coming in Windows on ARM64 for musicians: https://devblogs.microsoft.com/windows-music-dev/making-music-on-windows/ The more interesting bullet there is the in-box ASIO driver which should work with most USB-2 class compliant audio devices on ARM (and X64).

For my workflow, I constantly need to measure time from one sound to another for implementation or to send to my engineer (e.g. Start File1, wait 870 ms, start File2 at volume 0 and fade in over 1250ms, wait 500ms, start File3). I did recently learn about setting the timeline to milliseconds and dragging a region, which is better than what I had been doing. (For the last 10 years, my normal go-to is just to drop a marker at the two spots, set my time view to time in ms, and just do the math in a calculator (33625-32000=1625ms between markers).) But I wish there was a better way, like having something in the "selection" module in the console that would also show total length of the selection. The selection module doesn't even follow the ruler format, and always shows in bars:beats. Another possibility, if you highlight a region, the "export" menu shows the project and selection in frames. This number format is also not affected by the time ruler format. Sometimes I'll just quickly use that and calculate it (5:15 = 5.500 sec) but it's not always accurate enough at 1/30 of a second (33 ms chunks). If we could force that to milliseconds, that would also be viable. While the timeline-drag does help, it forces you to memorize the number if you have to type it somewhere else, since when you release the mouse-drag, the number goes away. Also, since 85% of the time I'm composing music vs. sound design, switching the timeline ruler to milliseconds to measure becomes a tedious task. It's 8 clicks total (right click toolbar, click Time Ruler Format, select Milliseconds, select beginning and end of region, switch back to measures:beats). If there was a little selection length module, we could just drag a region, and have it show up there, and stay there while I open implementation software or an email to log the number. Thank you!

I have a legacy (and life-time) SONAR Producer setup. I would also like to do tutorial and demonstration work for users of BandLab Cakewalk, the free version. Is it possible to install that side-by-side with my SONAR installation? If not, do I have to use a completely different computer to avoid conflicts, especially over registry settings.

I see that stem separation is all the rage at the moment with RipX, Serato Sample, and especially with FL Studio upping the ante recently and implementing it directly into the DAW. In the comment section of a YouTube vid I was watching on the subject recently, I was surprised to see someone mention that Bandlab has stem separation also with the Splitter tool. I have never used Bandlab so I had no idea about this and just checked it out. It doesn't sound quite as clean as some of the others on the market right now but it's a start. I'm hoping they are planning to implement this in the upcoming release of Sonar. That could really turn some heads. I'm also an Ableton user, and people are quite upset about the omission of stem separation with the recent Ableton 12 announcement. It's probably the biggest complaint I keep seeing about it. Just a thought.

Hi I am looking for help to with a song that I recorded in 2004 in Sonar which I have saved as a .cwb file, i no longer use sonar and only have a Mac laptop these days. I would like to pay someone to export the separate .WAV files (probably about 12 or so audio tracks). I want to remix the track but don’t really want to buy a pc and an old version of sonar!! Any help much appreciated. Many thanks Stafford

Hello everyone and thanks for reading this. My question is, what do I have to do to bring up all my old songs up in Sonar x3 Professional? Yes, I know its old but still working fine other than this issue. What happens: When I go to click on an older song from years ago, the song never comes up, as though it searches for it endlessly although I can clearly see the song sitting there where all of the other "working" songs are located. I would love to re-do many of these songs but I can't seem to access them in order to hear how awful they were from maybe 10 years ago. There are no error messages or other. Just a spinning circle--forever, I guess. I have waited for maybe 20 minutes before but, as I say, it never brings up the project. Does anyone know what I need to do? Surely, these songs aren't gone forever...are they? Thanks, and please let me know if more information is needed in order to solve this mystery! bob

Hi all, I recently had a hard drive crash and had to do a fresh install of Windows 10 and everything else (Might upgrade to Windows 11 while I'm putting things back together.) Anyway, typically I have had all the versions of Sonar installed that I own on this computer I'm working on. (X1 through the last update of SPlat in Command Center.) Can all any of you seasoned users tell me if this is necessary? I'm wondering if there are some VST's or Virtual Instruments or library sounds from the older versions X1-X3 (I think I have had the 'Producer' version of each of them) that I would lose by not installing X1-X3. I'm not too worried about older versions of Sonar for older projects or loops, and I am already installing all my third party instruments and effects...I'm mostly just wondering if anyone knows if I'll be missing any 'stock' instruments or effects that didn't carry over from previous versions? Thanks for your help, Matt

Hi all, The OPT plugin format for MIDI device editors is old and probably forgotten by most. While very handy as a Recall tool, it never quite became the industry standard Yamaha was aiming for. It was integrated by Cakewalk into Sonar 2, and was still in place with my old Sonar 8 installation, although by then renamed OMPS for some reason. I skipped the X1-X3 versions, and eventually got Platinum, but I think the OPT/OMPS menu option was gone at that point. It certainly seems to be missing in Cakewalk by BandLab, so I'm wondering: Could anybody shed some light on when (and possibly why) OPT/OMPS plugin support was removed from the codebase? Did the technology become proprietary at some point (Steinberg Studio Connections), or simply impossible to maintain from a technical point of view? Best regards, - G -

Let me describe my problem pretty quick: I've been using SONAR (Cakewalk) by Bandlab on my PC for around 2 years now, everything worked without any issues until now. Since the last update, when I open a project, hit play and then PAUSE, it's suddenly freezing and crashes. I already took a look at the Windows event log which just said that it has crashed... Now the weird thing is, that i never changed anything in the program settings since i used it, which is why i am curious what could be the reason for that. I'd be glad to get any help on that Cakewalk - [kick.cwp] 2022-08-06 15-21-05.mp4

3 years on my current OS and feeling it's time to wipe clean and re-install. The only items a really use from SONAR days: Concrete Limiter & CA-2A Can I just install those and not have to do the whole "SONAR" install? I thought those 2 may have been standalone, if so I could skip the SONAR install. Thanks in advance!

Hi, I have been sticking with SONAR Professional (2017.06), but today I decided to try CbB...I compared by exporting exact same project and found that they sound quite different (I AB'ed). CbB sounds much more open to me and there's more seperation. Could this be true?? export settings (sample rate, bit depth, dithering etc) were the same. Have bandlab been improving this? better summing?

Hello guys, could you please help me to solve this issue? The thing is I opened a project file I have been working on. On that project, I deleted all my tracks and imported two different tracks to experiment something. Unfortunately unknowingly I saved it and closed it over my main project with these 2 tracks and thus I lost my whole main project I was working. Is there any way I can retrieve that project. Please help. Thanks FYI - Autosaved were turned off No other copies have been created There were all wav files with lots of plugins

Hey all, Not sure if this is the best place to put this, but what the hey: I have an unmanageably large library of instruments on a powerful computer that’s impossible to bring portably. If it’s not a feature yet, I’d like to request a feature and/or app that would allow my, say, laptop or even iPad, to the extent it can, be able to load projects in cakewalk remotely over the internet and use the resources of the stationary desktop to help with rendering audio FX, VSTi’s, MIDI, and audio data. In the mean time, What’s the best way to work on Cakewalk remotely? Codefreq

Are you still on the fence about making the switch from Cakewalk Sonar to Cakewalk by BandLab? This video should help!

[Some users have helped me with this issue in a different Topic, but I thought it deserved its own thread here.] While using WASAPI, there's no audio playback although the Track meters are moving. Previously, I've used MME and ASIO4ALL flawlessly. I've tried the following: Experimented in Sonar, CbB, and Studio One v4 (but no WASAPI option there) Switched between WASAPI "Exclusive" and "Shared" Confirmed the sample rate is 24-bit 48K in both Sound Settings and in Sonar/Cakewalk Checked/unchecked "Suspend Audio Engine..." in [Audio --> Playback and Recording] Disabled/re-enabled the Audio Engine button and exited/restarted the program Confirmed each Instrument Track is output to Master Bus, and the Master Bus is output to RealTek As you can see, I've tried everything short of reformatting my hard drive and starting all over. What else is there? I've learned that WASAPI is the suggested Driver Mode for my onboard audio configuration. I'm still in the amateur stages of my music projects, so I don't want to rush into buying an audio interface (yet) just to use ASIO4ALL. ** Screenshots of my Windows Sound and CbB Preferences are attached. Any help towards a resolution would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance.

Okay, I live in a bubble. Had not even heard about Bandlab Cakewalk until Celemony told me they don’t even test Melodyne with SONAR Platinum any more. I’ve just been happily using SONAR Platinum with infinite updates. I’ve been a Cakewalk user for almost 3 decades, and always kept up with every upgrade, so this is a little odd. But all that aside, now I need to know whether switching to Bandlab is the right thing to . I understand it’s FREE? That seems insane, and automatically makes me a little leery. I’ve always believed you get what you pay for. Furthermore, I’ve seen hints out there (since my antenna are now activated) that perhaps switching to Bandlab Cakewalk is not necessarily a positive move. So I’d like to hear from those who’ve made the move. Recommended or not? Also, one small issue is that one of my two Platinum installations is on a machine that can only be connected to the Internet with great difficulty. Does that figure in? Thanks for your input.

Hello, i am a new user of Cakewalk and i like it, but there is one thing that bothers me a little, maybe i am not alone in this case. when i play or record something, i noticed that the time counter and the playhead cursor are not smooth but jerky, is there something to modify in the preferences to get them smooth? In preferences, i tried ASIO, WASAPI and MME but nothing changed. Here is my PC configuration: CPU : Intel Core i7-6700K MEMORY : 32 GB SOUNDCARD : Realtek High Definition Audio Thank you for your help
