  1. Alternative Definition of a Whole Note: A noise that is full of gas.
  2. Yes I went to music school with a dream (I was far from the best, even in that small sample). I went into another business quickly after graduation. Worked with a band on the side, quit after a couple of years, never went back. I still write but realize now that I had absolutely no clue back then. (I know all there is to know now though) Still it was the best thing I ever did.
  3. One other note regarding Sound on Sound. If you accidentally record on the wrong track it is easy to move the new recording without losing what was already on the track. Handy for someone who routinely does stuff like that (me).
  4. One of the tightest bands I ever saw.
  5. Sound on Sound is my option of choice. Handy especially when notes might overlap. Also useful if you want to do drums in separate takes. Templates though yes good for that kind of thing. Good thought.
  6. So on this August day 8/8/2023, must have been hungry.
  7. Only problem I have with arranger is losing other arranger tracks when I commit to an arrangement. I do use the trick that M. McLelod, gave me (Thank you again) when I remember. But when I forget (too often) it gets messy. BTW the (McCleod) tip above works as well.
  8. My friend got a hip replacement but it didn't work out. He's still not cool.
  9. And on the highway it really becomes a quickie.
  10. The pie crusts were on sale today - so you know, cheap dough.
  11. We went out for walk around the track, where it seems that a wandering animal had left something behind. On the first couple of rounds we didn't notice but on the turd time around we made the mistake of finding it.
  12. I would have to say that some great sounds can be had with just the sound sources that come with cakewalk. One thought is to selectively double the tracks to thicken & vary the sound. You can edit the volume envelope on one or both of the doubled tracks for variations.
  13. My wife said she wanted to get high, so I gave her a pair of heels.
  14. Are you moving items accidentally with the Arranger track ? Pretty sure this is user - and not a bug.
  15. Another thought: Adjust the Attack & Release times a bit to vary your sound over the course of the song.
  16. External modules. Also some of this may have to do with how you are creating the sequences. Are you writing them on a staff or step inputting, are you hard quantizing ? * Maybe you can use a CAL program to loosen it up. I believe there is one available. * Or quantize to a strength percentage if you are recording midi from a keyboard & you quantize. I use 91% I have seen some who say 85%. There are some who won't quantize at all. * There is also a groove quantize, I don't know much about that - have not used it in a very long time. (Decades - I think) * You could change the swing percentage a little in the quantize dialog. * You could use a vary velocity CAL if you have all similar velocities in your track. In any case unless you are recording live instruments it's just not going to sound like live instruments. Midi is great it allows you to do many things, but it does tend towards stiff.
  17. What a difference one letter switch can make:
  18. When I was a kid I wouldn't play baseball or football or tennis. So I got the Noball prize when I was pretty young.
  19. I was kicking three pairs of shoes down the hall when my wife asked me what I was doing. I told her I herd shoes on the floor.
  20. Focusrite (Scarlett) Suggests a 3M cable length. How feasible is it to use a longer cable. (Thanks to any replies in advance)
  21. This keeps popping up on my screen: "The days of shingles are over" I'm trying to figure out why a roofing company is getting involved in a medical issue.
  22. You know when it comes to mikiing time it's one way or the udder.
