This is a good power ballad waiting to happen. As you noted, the vocal needs to come up, and there's no reason to be shy about your vocal because you have a fine voice for this song. Actually, the only thing that stood out was the piano; it sounds a little synthetic to my ears. I see you have NI Komplete, so I assume you have a variety of pianos to choose from. Small nit. I look forward to hearing this down the line.

Jesse, this is one of the hippest songs I’ve heard in ages. It’s either perfect, or the slide could stand to come down just a little, but a masterpiece, nonetheless. Well done!

Sweet! This is very well produced and played. I like TE, too. Thanks for putting this up.

Thank you, Bob, it's good to hear from you. I appreciate you noticing the phrasing on the vocal as I had to play with it a bit before settling on this one. I love your new song! Keep em coming, and I will, too.

Absolutely brilliant! It takes me back to the days when Bill and Ted were having an excellent adventure...

Wow, I never knew this but could have used it many times!

Outstanding! Very tasty mix that's like comfort food for the ears.

Russ, I just listened to this twice because it really sparked my imagination. I love this track and think it could be stellar with just a tweak or two. I'm missing some lo/mid punch when the drums kick in, and overall in general. Just a bit more warmth and this is as good as gold. Your use of textures and layers is terrific. Good luck in the contest.

Terrific song and performances. I like her voice as is; I don't think it's necessary to dirty it up. However, overall, the mix sounds bright to me, as if, a high pass filter got used very liberally. Perhaps by letting some low mids back into the mix would satisfy people's perception of the vocal being too clean. Otherwise, this song is a gem!

I missed this one, but I finally caught up. This is very bright, poppy, and happy sounding as dance songs go. I'd like to hear this played over some large speakers and subs, like in a club. I'll bet people wouldn't be able to stay off the dance floor.

Hi Lynn ,
Wow, deep song on a lot of levels .
I love the line " the older I get the less I become less of the parts of my sum "
Love the change up arrangement wise you did at 1:38 ...what do we have here ?
A Reggae style guitar part mixed in w a Cuban style groove done in an old Western spaghetti style sound canvas ...OMG Love it ..
I liked your song a lot Lynn . Everything about it is very good . The songs message , the vocals , instruments and mix ....
Great job ,
Kenny
Kenny, I'm blown away by your words. I've always looked to you as one of the true masters on this site, so it means a lot. Thank you!

Hi, Lynn,
I must have missed this on the old songs forum, but this is really quirky and cool with lots of interesting parts weaving in and out throughout the entire song!?
Great lyrics and fun arrangement, with excellent musicianship and killer vocals. The mix is clean as a whistle, and clear, wide and punchy with great spatial detail and perfect panning.
Very cool song, Lynn, I'm glad you gave it another shot, I definitely think it's a real keeper!?
Great stuff, buddy, have a good one!
BobHey Bob, your words mean a lot, and I really appreciate them. Thanks to you and so many others it's easy to get steered in the right direction. Keep on rockin'

kakku, this is a pleasant surprise. It has a nice blend of upbeat pop with shred guitar, and the arrangement has a few unexpected turns that held my interest. IMO, arranging is one of the hardest things to master even if one can make a good mix. It can be learned, up to a point, but is mostly in-born. You seem to have the touch because I never know what to expect from you. Keep it up!

Good song, thanks for remixing and posting it again. I think the overall mix and arrangement is great, maybe the bass is a bit dominant in the verse? I listened in headphones, so take it with a pinch of salt. Love the 6/8+3/4 combo. And xylo percussion! Nice Peter Gabriel-ish sound on the vocal.
Leizer, thanks for your comments and time. I agree with you about the bass; I just bought 2 new headphones - a Sennheiser HD 300 PRO and an Audio Technica - ATH M50x - and both tell me that the bass is a little hot so I cranked it down in the mix I'm working on now. Good ears!

More than good enough for radio or tv. Excellent all the way. I listened with my phone so cannot comment on mix
kakku, you made my day! I did take the time to check the mix on my cellphone and with Mixchecker Pro just in case somebody like you came along

John, this is one of your best songs, yet. It has a nice Steely Dan feel, and these lyrics are bluesy. Stay true to yourself.

Lately, I've noticed CW losing focus after sitting idle for 2-3 minutes. Once, it happened during the playback of a song when I let the song run past the ending (I didn't have it set to stop at the end). This didn't used to happen until the last month or so. I could leave CW on overnight and come back the next morning, hit the spacebar and go to work. Has anyone else seen this behavior? It's not a game stopper, but puzzling.

I thought the OP was actually talking about a closing of Cakewalk. If Cakewalk has just lost focus and not closed as the OP reports, it should still be present in Task Manager. If it has just fallen behind some other window, then pressing and holding ALT and pressing TAB should reveal it and let him return to it again.
Yeah, my problem isn't the same and should be a separate topic. Sorry, move along, nothing to see here...

Lately, I've been having a similar problem; after sitting idle for a few minutes, CW suddenly loses focus, and I have to click on the program to get it back. This happened once while it was playing back a song after I'd let it run on for a few seconds past the end of the song. As I said, it's only been recently that this started happening.

Outstanding! Great lyrics with an impassioned vocal are a winner in my book every time. Do you mind if I tell my friends that this is me? LOL

Short and bittersweet. Cool track that doesn't wear out its welcome. I like tracks like this that know when to let go.

I must have missed though not surprising my furry mind was somewhat distracted. Agree that the hats are a tad to forward but other than that I like this @Lynn.
Thanks, Wookie! I've already dialed back the hihats a bit, but for now you'll have to use your imagination. lol

John, it's good to hear from you. These are 3 tasty tunes that scream for a vocal to complete their stories. As always, your guitar playing is excellent and your mixing is smooth. I like the trilogy idea, and if you have to go back to sleep to expand on it, go for it!
