Yes, archive is useful.
Archive is more about saving CPU cycles than reducing the project memory footprint.
In fact, archiving a softsynth does not remove the synth from memory. Disconnecting the synth unloads the synth from memory.
Connect/Disconnect toggle is in the synth rack menu (D in the image below) when docked with the browsers. When undocked or in the multidock, use the power button next to each synth.

Time sensitive programs like DAWs don't run very well if they are forced to use virtual memory.
 

Yes, BA keeps track of what has been installed using registry entries.
If CbB (or the SI Suite) was installed and removed without performing a clean install the best way to get the plug-ins back is use the Cakewalk Web Installer.
The Cakewalk Web Installer does not track installs.

Is the arpeggiator section enabled?

Is punch recording enabled?

Because the registry entries are still there.

Of course, you already did most of it, but you still need to clean up the registry.

Here is one way to remove all controller data
Adding the MFX Event Filter setup like the image below to the MIDI FX rack of the track(s) Select the track(s) From the main menu select Process > Apply Effects > MIDI Effects...

Auto-save relies on the program to determine when a project snapshot should be taken.
Versioning relies on the user to tell the program when it is time to create a version.
If auto-save stored in the versioning system, it may be full of copies made over too short a time possibly removing the last "good version" a user manually saved.
The same could happen if one constantly manually saves the project with too small a number of versions to keep
If one wants to retain frequent "versions" for some projects and not blowout the "number of versions to keep" setting for all projects, one method is File > Save Copy As (may be bound to a shortcut) in the current project folder giving the saved projects meaningful version-like names. Although, I would not use the versioning system naming scheme.
 
 
 

The first test to perform for this type of problem is import the file back into Cakewalk and play it.
If playback is OK in Cakewalk, the problem is not the exported file. 
Usually the problem is the program/device playing the exported file.

Set the track interleave to mono.
Set the track input to the channel sending the audio.
The track interleave is on the left of the button row at the bottom of the track header and on the track inspector (just above where E points in this image from http://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Inspectors.3.html#1224480) and console strips.

Instead of BandLab Assistant, try the new Cakewalk Web Installer

Copy the dll to the path shown in the plug-in manager if it is not already there
Open a command window as administrator and type
regsvr32 /u path_and filename_shown_in_the_plug-in_manager
regsvr32 correct_path_and_filename

Direct is a matter of opinion but another way is described below
The post discusses velocity but it works for channel too.
 

For goodness sake, please start using directory junctions instead of messing with the registry and preferences.
They are much safer, easy to setup and don't require any changes to the registry or preferences.
If you need help with directory junctions ask or search this forum for mklink or the old Cakewalk forum (use Google, site:forum.cakewalk.com mklink scook)
There are plenty of worked examples and details on how to use mklink.
 
That said, I do change a couple of paths in preferences instead of creating junctions. The reason being, I don't want the installers to write into the paths. The two I change are drum maps and project templates. The installers update the default locations only so using custom locations for these two areas prevents them from being overwritten by updates.

You know the demo is limited to 30 days and there is no way to purchase the synth.
The pitch bend range is set in the performance module shown in the image above.
Just like the Pitch Bend opcodes in sfz, there is no way to modify them on the fly.

The CbB preference settings and config files are located in
%appdata%\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Core HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Cakewalk Music Software\Cakewalk\Core Also under "%appdata%\Cakewalk" are the Library and ACT data folders containing plug-in category and ACT config info.
A default installation also uses "C:\Cakewalk Content" for some presets and user files.
Any user presets stored using the Cakewalk plug-in management system may be exported using the Plug-in Manager (the presets are stored in the registry).
Presets using the Sonitus plug-in preset manager are in ini files stored by default in "C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Plugins"
 
The DAW has no control over where third party plug-ins store their presets.

The drop down to manage track control display is

If the controls were displayed in the old session and missing in new sessions, the Workspace may be overriding the drop down. Either create a custom workspace or set it to None.

If the three tracks in the middle of the image were instrument tracks they would NOT show TTS-1 as their output.
The three tracks routed to TTS-1 are MIDI tracks with MIDI meters.
Instrument tracks show audio meters.
