  1. Thanks 57Gregy,

Its just that from time to time over the years since Bandlab took over and site closed............ If I ever have to reinstall for some reason (new PC)

(eg: Dimension pro, Rapture or the Sonitus suite etc) which I'm still constructively using and being able to download a new copy came in invaluable sometimes.

Sure...I know there's copies somewhere on my PC....whether or not I can register is now another matter.

Suppose it was just a great legacy site to be able to tap into when needed.....

Just thought the admin might help get me back in given my long history with Cakewalk.

If not.......I can live with it

  2. Hi Guys,

I might have stuffed myself up here...........let's see.

I am a lifer (Life member back in the day) and was forced, due to recent spamming, to change my email address.

Had to update the address on the old Cakewalk site and appear to have been sent into the Twilight Zone.

After I changed my email address on the old site to the new one......

....I received the following message upon subsequent log in attempt with new address:

    "Joe Bloggs is pending approval.

Please check the email address ending in @outlook.com for instructions on how to proceed."

    FEI.... I have a new outlook.com account .

Been days now with no email contact from Cakewalk and still cant get in.

Can I expect this to be dealt with eventually or have I shot myself in foot.

    Any advice....direction .most appreciated.

    Cheers........ Frank

  3. HI All,

Looking seriously at this as I am short of  decent orchestral sounds.

Anyone have any comment on their experiences with it. .........maybe, any reviews I can check out.

ALSO...Opinion about me waiting for supposed 1/2 price KONTACT Sale perhaps later in year?   ......

..would KONTAKT already have packaged orchestral sounds worth waiting for  ... & holding on to my funds till then?

  4. Well,

I managed to get Dimension Pro back as a VSTi .....as follows:

    1.Reinstall D-ProInstall_1.5.5.16.exe  (- 64 Bit vers)

2.Once Installed, right clicked on the application's desktop icon and go to Properties /Advanced and Tick 'Run as Administrator'

( Thanks John Vere of earlier post for that tip - Registration Code Fails otherwise)

3.Open the Stand Alone Application now on desktop ,fill in the registration Code request on the pop up window that emerges and press submit.

    4. Hopefully next Pop up window will acknowledge successful registration.

(NB: At this stage I expected all now to be well, however , Dimension Pro still did not appear in the CbB Instrument folders or the  VSTis  of the Plug in Manager. The following steps to success were a  fluke discovery but it solved the issue ......for me at least)

    5. With CbB closed, I went to c:Program Files/Cakewalk/VstPlugins/DimensionPro.

6.I Cut  Dimension Pro folder and Pasted it temporarily to desktop.

7.Opened CbB where it advised upon opening that #1 plugin had been removed (Presumably the Dimension Pro FX plugin which I mentioned in earlier post)

    8.I then closed CbB

9.I copied from desktop and reinstated the Dimension Pro Folder back in Program Files/Cakewalk/VstPlugins folder

10.Reopened CbB and in my case, Dimension pro was back in the instruments folder and gone from FX.

(Was not sure why it was in FX ..............I have never used it as such).

Hope this might help someone else at some stage......worth a try anyway.

    Cheers Frank

  5. Hi Charles,

Just wondering did you resolve this issue?

I find in the last week that Dimension Pro  is now only available as an FX.

Mine is not showing up in the Instrument folder though.....only FX folder.

Only  showing up as a VST in plugin Manager

I have reinstalled it twice from command center....but no luck.

I am sure it was an Instrument  last week..........I recall using it as such............unless I'm going silly.....and that is possible too :)

Your post is from some time back....hoping you might have resolved it or someone might jump in with advice.

  6. Thanks msmcleod and KellsBells2400

    Good work  :)

Your suggested action has done the trick.

Not only has the Sonitus suite reactivated in CbB  but several other plugins which were giving me grief ( including XPand) and  are now toeing the line. Pro Channel was also missing and has now returned. Those erratically behaving plugins (now fixed) were the reason I resorted to the initial clean reinstall.

I only know enough computer language to be dangerous but this now appears to be an issue cased by Microsoft updates.

Some vital piece of computer programming was missing/purposely removed .....Is that correct?

If so, is it likely other CbB users might also start being affected.
This solution link https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170  will be very handy now I imagine.

Big thanks to everyone for your contributions to this issue.

    Cheers.......Frank

  7. Thanks Again, to all, for the valuable input,

This is a summary of what I have since attempted at least twice and the results.

    1. For a second time, cleaned out my PC of all traces of Cakewalk , including Registry deletes per advisory : https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034066393-Clean-Install-Cakewalk-by-BandLab

2.I then attempted a Clean Install of Sonar Platinum ['Install All'] from Cakewalk Command Center. Install seemed to get all the way to the end when it suddenly failed with the attached Error message displayed. I was forced to Abort the intall.  Tried this method twice...same result.

    3. Decided to log in to my Account Portal and manually install same. 64 Bit install failed with similar message. NB: 32 Bit Sonar Platinum installed successfully including a functioning  Sonitus Suite of apps. This 32Bit version does not recognize most of the Cakewalk Plugins which I installed later.

    4. Whilst I felt it unlikely, decided then to install CbB  to  see whether Sonitus was now on its radar.......but after program scanning ...no..............the problem remained.

I don't want to keep banging on  (and banging my head)about this situation. Maybe it is time to move on... as has been suggested.

Just thought I would update you all on my findings for reference.

Its all just gettin a bit hard :)

Thanks for your help guys....time for some new compressors I think.

    cheers...Frank

  8. OK Sal and Lord Tim

Thanks for the prompt response :)

Below is the system I am dealing with. ...(BTW ....we used to.... in the old days... have some way of placing this reference  info at the bottom of one's post template)

    Is that not possible now?

    Version    22H2
    OS build    19045.2604
Samsung SSD 860 EVO 1TB [Hard drive]
    Processor    AMD Ryzen 5 3600 6-Core Processor                 3.59 GHz
    Installed RAM    32.0 GB
System type    64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
    Audio Interface: Scarlett 6i6(2nd Gen)
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 [Display adapter]

Cakewalk By Bandlab Version: 2022.11 (Build 021,64Bit)

Antivirus: Windows Standard Security - (No 3rd Party Application)

PS:I do have access to my Command Center Downloads still.

    cheers........Frank 🦘

  9. Hi Guys,

Long time since I've been here.............getting back into recording.

I have recently done a clean install of Cakewalk ,having been previously  just upgrading over the years since Bandlab acquired ownership.

This was because recently, there appeared to be glitches in the workings which I wont go into now.

However, after the clean install.....I find that whilst Sonitus FX are showing up(in name) in the FX Folders , they don't  appear in the plug in manager and when trying to utilize.....I get the following error (see attached)

I liked the simplicity of Sonitus and its sidechain capability

I've probably 'turned a wrong corner' here.

    32bit - 64Bit issue maybe

    Any help/direction most appreciated

    Cheers....Frank

Spent some time with Mike Balzarini (great guy!) at the Cakewalk section of the BandLab booth (Noel was out walking around at the time). Walked away from this experience feeling really confident that Cakewalk is here to stay long-term. And while the Cakewalk section was moderate, it was given a key location, right out front at the BandLab booth.  And it was staffed! The overall BandLab booth was first rate. Large. High profile location. And with quite an impressive array of components. Best Cakewalk presence since...well...pre-Roland Era!

Thanks for the 'on the ground'  report Chamlin.

I'm down here in OZ, wishing I was up there.

I noticed on the site map that Bandlab appeared to be in a Ground level ... Entry area position.

Am I correct and if so,  did this  have positive effect / impact from your perspective?

    Cheers

  11. Thankyou 'TheSteven',

Very informative , uplifting and inspiring information.

    You are obviously Midi  passionate.

    So am I.

I have been loosely following the Midi evolution.

My wife and I are a duo....and use Midi controlled backing .

Midi Weapon of Choice - 'Roland SD50'.

I am 'Under the Hood'  continually between gigs, with my 'Cakewalk toolbox'..............trying to squeeze out just a little more from

that Trumpet ,that Cow Bell Or that Crash Cymbal.

    Isn't this brilliant guys !!

To have a place where you can discuss MIDI , not just from a highly technical development perspective ..BUT...also from an end user /muso/ music production

    viewpoint.

This forum & this thread is fair reason as to  why 'Cakewalk'  has , from the early days,  maintained a significant position with Musicians and other Music producers within the  DAW world.

MIDI is so misunderstood in the broader community of aspiring .......shall we say..............'Music Vocationally Interested Parties'.

How I cringe ( and I guess you too ) when I see comments like.......( and we've all seen them )............. eg: "Midi sounds so Fake,False,Futile.....Awful. I think I'd rather get properly recorded backing tracks" !

    Well done TheSteven :)

I am now 'Following You' .

    Have high expectations.................No pressure LOL

    Cheers ....................Baktrak

Thanks indeed Jyotishvarii for your follow up concern.

  13. "Yes......YES...........YES"  (ie: Expressed in a Gene Wilder Style)

    It is ME......Frank Harvey.

I have always been ME ....Though some of my, shall we say, 'less than accommodating friends, have often, sneeringly  implied that I am no longer ME ....

OR only a shadow of the real ME.

Thankyou Jyotishvarii for recognizing me from Ye Ole Forum.

Us old comrades must stick together hey.

    Viva La Cakewalk !!!!!
