  1. So I have to admit that I love buying equipment.  I noticed that my computer I have been using for 4 years has only 16 gb of ram in it.  I am not sure why.  But the motherboard allows 64gb, so I am going for it.  Will I realize any improvement?

I also upgrading to two m.2 SSDS because I just found out that the motherboard (GIGABYTE G1 Gaming GA-Z170X-Gaming 7 ) has two M.2 slots that I just never saw!

So, it will be interesting to see any improvement enhancements!!!

I cannot write a word about this update because it's not possible to install it. Let me say it: Cakewalk is great, Bandland assistant is @$#&+\@🤬.

I had to delete Cakewalk.  Then I re-installed it.  And it worked great and even kept my settings.  Something was wrong with the assistant - perhaps on summer break?

  3. Hi Everyone:
Sometimes I will open up Cakewalk and within some seconds it just shuts down.  I will open it again and it is fine.

And periodically, if I do anything while the audio is running, the audio engine will stop and have to be restarted.

All of this was very rare under Sonar Platinum.  Is this common to everyone?  Any thoughts?

  4. Hi everyone.  I hope you are all well!!!

If I have a track with a bunch of clips on it (from many takes) - if I bounce to clip - so it no longer has separate clips - and then I save as a bundle for instance, the size of the file is reduced.

So, is it worth reducing the size of the file for any effective purpose (other than saving space)?  Does it make it run smoother - less impact on cpu, etc?  And is there any audio quality loss by making one whole track line - one clip???

    Thank you,

    AB

    I am using 6 cores!  So, I assume I use value=2.

    Hi, Alan Bachman

I read on CbB online help that value=1 gives good performance for dual core processors, and value=2 is better for quadcore ones, when the Use Multiprocessing Engine option is enabled. But I can't say if there's downside as my system is entry level (*)!

Edit: (*) also I've been using CbB more for simple tasks like score editing. By coincidence I was trying to program midi with recorded guitar and noticed this new scheduling model issue!

Hi, I'd like to report I had midi latency when using ThreadSchedulingModel=3. When playing with midi keyboard and Virtual Controller the lantency reaches more than 1 second after 3 or 4 minutes. So I changed it back to value=1, and all is good!

    Best regards,

Good to know.  Any downside to threadschedulingmodel=1 ???

  7. I track at 96K or 88.1 because of the latency benefits and frankly, the hard drive space, taxing the system, etc. is no longer an issue.  I mix to various sample rates - because as long as I have the mix where I want it, I may as well make extra copies at various sample rates.

  8. So I am using a Lynx Aurora with thunderbolt connection.  Is it fairly safe to try out the latest update to Bandlab Cakewalk?  Is it likely that the posts are mainly people having issues?  Thank you, Noel, for all your great work through the years!!!

  9. Try everything to make sure it works.  Open back, closed back, speakers, boom box, whatever.   Not everyone has this time luxery.  But if you really want to know what it sounds like by the end user, one must use what the end user is listening on.  For that matter, take it to the car as well!
