  1. A few years ago I bought Pulsar's Echorec thinking I'd use it on every project.  Well, given how much success I've had with H-Delay, Timeless 3, Replika XT, and Objeq Delay, Echorec seldom gets used as a delay plugin.

But thanks to your post I've tried it on a few tracks as a saturation 'color box', and it's working quite well.

So thanks for reviving this poor forgotten plugin!

The only problem I have with updating Waves software is it won't let me just update the one that still has a subscription.  It makes me update all the plugins I have!  So, if one of them doesn't have a subscription, and it updates, it will go into demo mode!  It's horrible!

Isn't the (WUP) subscription just for support and not usage?

I've been updating plugins with expired WUP for years now and none of them have ever went into demo mode.  Maybe you have something different.

Any ones in particular? There was a 'missing' Kontakt update a while back, but I think it was just taking its time to roll out - I can see Kontakt 7.4.2. there now. On the other hand, there very well could be some updates that I'm missing (but don't know about).

I think also the VST3 version of Reaktor 6, IIRC.

  4. BTW, was the limit for attaching images recently reduced?  The last few times I've tried to upload a screenshot I received a pop-up error message saying "You are only allowed to upload 40.96kB."

updating the various contents to 1.7 but leaving the plugin at 1.5 broke it for me.  I'm not given an option to update that to 1,7

Here's a potential solution:  Do a 'repair' on either the Piano/Core/Discover and it will install the version 1.7 plugin.

Yo can read about it here.

  6. Just an FYI based on this thread at VI-Control: the latest update may cause the plugin and preset/sample files to become 'out-of-sync'.

The link I provided starts at page 32 where the discussion about the issue seems to start (I didn't read all 30+ pages).

I thought I'd post the info here to save folks time if they encounter this issue.  I'm going to wait to update to be safe.

  7. I just noticed that on this NI webpage, Stratus has a new GUI.  I'd like to update my version (which has the old GUI), but neither Native Access nor iZotope's updater includes Stratus (or Symphony) as a product.

Originally this reverb was an Exponential Audio product, but then it became part of iZotope, and now they're part of NI!  So, who's responsible for it?  And specifically, does anyone know what to use to perform this update?

The recent consolidation is making updating even more frustrating and time-consuming.

Do I have to buy the app and the voices?

No, not if you just want to demo them.  If that's the case you can download the demo versions of the Synthesizer V Editor and (some of) the voice libraries.

You will, however, have to buy both if you want to use all the advance features, like scripting.   IIRC there's a comparison between the demo and full versions of the editor on the Dreamtronics website.

I want to get started. With this sale which 2 female and 1 male voices would you recommend? Do I have to buy synth V as well?

    tia

I'm not sure which sale you're referring to, but my favorite female voice, by far, is Solaria.  She's very versatile and sounds great with little or no tweaking.

None of the male voices I have (Asterian, Jun, Ninezero) are good enough to be 'favorites' yet.

looks like you can pick: 50 - 75 - 100 (etc) %  - it's not arbitrary and it's the entire GUI, you can't just zoom the instrument window.

Well, at least they're making progress; albeit at a glacial pace.

I am no expert on Bitwig. The way I use the clip launcher is to record directly into each clip, so I can't comment on playing a long phrase and cutting that into clips.  I use clips for repeated phrases, designed to loop, so the pick-up notes would be just before the end of the loop, if that makes sense.  If I want more of a free flowing unstructured piece I would just work linearly and not use the clips.

    Thanks again, Brian.

I was thinking of picking-up Bitwig now that it's on sale to improve my song-creation workflow compared to what's possible in Cubase.  I tend to start by coming up with sections in no particular order at the beginning of the process and then placing them on the timeline later.  Although that's possible in Cubase, even with the Arranger functionality it's rather crude and requires lots of editing which stifles the creative process.

Bitwig does have some deep settings that I have never used, however, and it looks like it CAN do what you are asking, according to the manual, https://www.bitwig.com/userguide/latest/acquiring_and_working_with_launcher_clips/#launcher_clip_parameters  Scroll down to "Launch Q" and particularly "Q to Loop" about 2/3 down.

Yes, that does look promising.  I think I'll just try the Bitwig demo and see what it can do rather than buy it and be disappointed.  Cheers!

They are truncated, but the whole phrases are still retained.  Example- You play a couple notes leading in to a five bar phrase.  If you want to put it into a four bar clip, you set the "window" that will be the four bars you want.  If you don't include the lead in, they don't play.  If notes are held beyond where you set the end of the clip, they are truncated (note off sent).  Your complete phrase is retained, however.  You can go back and adjust the "window" later, even making it more bars long to hold the whole recording.  Really no different than how it handles audio.

    Thanks for replying.

As a follow-up, if I have pickup notes (before the bar) at all three places circled in red below, would they all play?  I'm asking b/c I'm not sure if there's just one "window" that spans the entire Scene length, or there are multiple smaller windows around each of the clips within the Scene.
