  1. I like the song and the more i listen to it the more i like it. It does have that old Beatles vibe to it. But I feel it's missing the tweaking that came from the back and forth between John and Paul. I think the best Beatle songs where the ones Paul came up with and John threw his sarcasm, cynicism and dry wit into the mix.
  2. Yes, I un-dock both staff view and Piano roll View...look at staff view and edit in Piano Roll. It really helps if you multiple monitors.
  3. Honestly, my video skills come from years an years of scoring to picture and creating work prints (videos) that will work in Cakewalk. Also, I have many really great video editors in my circle of friends. I learned early on in the business to stay close to the Video editors and Audio Mixers on projects. They give me much better insight into how well I was doing a job...what producers were saying when I wasn't there.
  4. Thanks guys Synth V is the vocal AI program. I create the background in Kaiber.AI and overlay the faces using HeyGen to make everyone talk. I'm using the free version of HeyGen so I get to create two :30 second talking photos a day. So it takes a couple of days to create all the elements sometimes, if I don't make any mistakes.
  5. This all just proves that this is the best forum ever!
  6. Not gonna lie, I'm trying out this YouTube podcast thing and I'm fishing for subscribers. I've got one so far. Thanks Mom!
  7. wrong forum...my bad.
  8. Hey so I'm trying to build a podcast of me and my friends talking about music, the industry and experiences we've had as composers and performers. I kinda think that people in this forum are the target market. My question is this...Do I need to learn how to Tik Tok and Instragram? The YouTube thing is not so hard and I understand and can do that. I'm doing this for fun 'cause I'm over retirement age, the market for my music has migrated to LA and Hollywood and I didn't want to migrate with it for loads of reasons. Do I need to take the time and get on those platforms? Thanks in advance. This forum has always been a great source for me.
  9. Hey so we should have an After Party right here...digitally. We can post pictures of us walking down the red carpet all dressed up to celebrate Keni!
  10. Not to be mean or make fun , but you obviously never worked 24 track. Old Man Rant' a-commin'....Bleed thru, drop out, wow and flutter, aliasing, noise....just the start of the issues or "bugs" recording on tape. Ohhh...make sure you store your 2 in tape "tails-out". Ask the assistant who stored Led Zepplin's "Whole Lot Of Love" heads-out.
  11. So the trick the pros use to getting the vocals to sit right in the mix (I just saw this used by a great mixer) is what Ross Smithe eluded to earlier. That is what I think is needed to spruce up this mix. But here is the "twist". Use a multi-band side-chain compressor. Send all your instruments to a bus before they go out to the master. Use your vocals to compress all frequencies the instrument bus has in the vocal range (usually 1k-5k ish---use your ears for each project). If you can't get your hands on one My friend said he use to accomplish this in the old days with a "De-esser" , programming it's automation to turn on and off during the vocals and instead of it set to the S frequencies, he lowered the settings to compress the actual vocal range(in all the instruments of course} . If you do this right , all the vocals sit way better. Sonar gave this multi band compressor away along time ago. If you have it try it.
  12. Jerry! So Good! I only had time to listen to the 1st movement. I don't say this lightly, there are some amazing moments. What notation software are you using here? It's really cool to hear your compositions over the years and hear how the technology is almost catching up to your abilities.
  13. That does explain some of it. But let me give specific examples. 1) I generate video on Kaiber.AI. The other day there was a downloading issue. I contacted Kaiber tech support and they said , yes there is an issue and they are working on solving the problem. The tech said that they were going to keep everyone updated and I should go to Discord. I accepted the invite, got to Discord and the Kaiber AI channel and I have no idea how to see updates or anything but what the latest person just typed. The site is confusing to me. 2) I saw a YouTube video on how Pika on Discord would generate AI videos. I accepted that invite and can follow the instructions and create a video, but beyond that, the rest of the Pika channel is just as confusing. Unless I'm doing that one specific thing, I have no idea what I can do there or what I am doing on the site. Maybe it's a matter of time.
  14. I've been Invited to Discord for a couple of apps. AI related for video...But I just don't understand or grasp how Discord works. One of my invites does generate video , but it's not usable (yet). It's like inputting code. My kids might be coming home next month. (Old Man Rant) Maybe they can explain it to me. I'm trying to remember if forums like this one were just as confusing to me in the beginning...
  15. Yeah, I do what Craig is describing a lot. Once you start doing it regularly it is pretty easy. Pretty much export a midi track, then export an OMF. Do the reverse in the other app. Open the midi file, then import the OMF. Most of the time I'm going back an forth between notation programs, so I mostly just do it thru midi files. I would think it would be quite easy to create a file format that just combines the two in the correct order. After all, we are working on computers.
  16. So take some advice from an old man with a storied history of scoring to picture...and I've done the lion's share in Cakewalk. Cakewalk's capabilities for scoring as they stand are fine, more than fine. People will argue with me about this, but I have the royalty checks and I don't need to debate this the slightest. If you want to make $ scoring to picture, you need to be prepared to do some editing. Just a fact. So get a simple video editing program and learn the basics. It might just save your life. No matter what DAW you use, there are formats and codecs that work better in that DAW. Editors and clients will send you all different formats. Find what works best and render every cut you get in your DAW's preferred format. When you have a sample to send back to the client for approval, or you want to create a video...do it using the video app not the DAW. I've outputted video files from Cubase, CbB and ProTools. Sometimes the client can view them, sometimes not. When i export out of my video app there is never a problem. CbB renders audio files quickly and more efficiently than video. You want the picture to start later? Slide it in your video app to where you want it to start. I'll admit, this feature is available in Cubase and other DAW's, but that is the only small advantage. And I would warn you not to do that in the DAW. Spend a thousand hours working under deadlines and you will find out why. OLD MAN RANT! PS. Want to look like a pro? When sending samples to clients for approval, put your name and version number on a title card at the start of your video. Include Time code for referencing...that is all
  17. that last meal was just a little over done
  18. Mother nature shaved my head years ago...I've worn a baseball hat ever since. The cold, the sunburn, I don't really care how ugly I look I just wish i had my hair back for the protection. My daughter teases me that I glued my hat on. I hate the thought of doing this, but Bosley might be my next stop... if I could just create some decent income.
  19. I must point out that the written words ..."the Pixels"... can feel much harsher than intended many times. I remember getting a reply to something and they wanted to know why I was so angry at them...I had no idea I was sounding angry. I thought I was being funny. Things can come off differently depending how you interpret the moment. So the apology is always well taken, but not always needed. Best!
  20. Just posting to see what the new me is and looks like.....
  21. So I started reading this thread and was dying to know...did the mixer ever come??? Just finished skimming thru everything and , fheeeew...it final came. Back in the day, I would order something from Sweetwater before noon and it would be on my doorstep the next afternoon around 3. Once in a while I would miss the delivery and would hustle down to the Fed Ex distribution center around 8:30pm (the drivers came back around 7 ish and they closed at 9.) Of course I was literally blocks away from the distribution center. That did have it's perks.
  22. This is outstanding...everything about it.
