  1. Hi guys,

Got my laptop back and made this. What do you guys think? Also if you can like the video, and comment if you really like it, it would really help since Youtube is kicking my ***** for not uploading for 8 months. 😭

I like this - the vocals have a Peter Gabriel feel to them.

What did you use for the Bass?

I used their bass plugin and I believe I used overdrive and saturation.

  3. Hey guys, I lost my laptop for a while and started to make music on my phone. Was blown away with what I was able to do. Five years of production and mixing on my laptop has taught me a lot and made me realize that it’s not about gear but skill to a certain degree.

Everything was produced on GarageBand, recorded with the iPhone mic on Bandlab, mixed(not really imo) and mastered on  Bandlab also. What do you guys think?

"FL ASIO" is another WDM-to-ASIO wrapper like ASIO4ALL. From the FL Studio documentation: "If your audio device does not natively support ASIO, the FL Studio install includes FL Studio ASIO and ASIO4ALL...."

In other words, if your audio device does support ASIO, as in an ASIO driver made by the company that produces the device, don't use FL ASIO or ASIO4ALL."

And if it doesn't, WASAPI Exclusive is a better option than ASIO4ALL or "FL ASIO" or "Magix Low-Latency driver" or whatever other color of lipstick they've put on the pig.

In the case of an SSL audio interface, yes, the best driver will be the SSL ASIO driver.

And really, the only time to even use WASAPI is with a computer's built-in audio CODEC chip (usually Realtek), because nobody should ever buy an interface for use with a DAW that doesn't have its own native ASIO driver. If you want your different Windows programs to be able to use the interface at the same time, then WASAPI Shared is the right driver mode.

Yeah thanks I didn't know that about FL ASIO and ASIO4ALL. My WASAPI wasn't even an option because it was not working so I had to find this workaround. I will make sure to edit my response.

  5. Yeah I had this issue a year ago. The solution was unconventional. I deleted ASIO4all and used two different ASIOS: FLASIO and SSLASIO. Each has its benefits. FL ASIO allows you to use other apps while Cakewalk is open. It is also very stable and it sends a louder signal through the output. The only thing was the buffer size could go low to just 128. . If I need a smaller buffer size I use SSL ASIO. It is not as loud as FLASIO.

To get the ASIO you just have to download the trial of FL Studio it should work.

You can only use it if you have the SSL audio interface and you can only use it if the SSL is connected.

So yeah. FLASIO for general use, SSLASIO for recording and monitoring.

    EDIT:

"FL ASIO" is another WDM-to-ASIO wrapper like ASIO4ALL. From the FL Studio documentation: "If your audio device does not natively support ASIO, the FL Studio install includes FL Studio ASIO and ASIO4ALL....

So just use the SSL ASIO if you have an SSL audio interface.

  6. Hello, I have an issue. When I open a new project on Cakewalk, I hear a piano sound. Then after that when I pause and play, I hear a piano key. I dont know where it is coming from because nothing is indicating that audio is going through. This happened out of nowhere. Here is a video of the issue.

@Ewoof Tom is right. Post this in the songs forum. Not many people will see it here.

Now about your video for Feel, you did that? That's good stuff dude. Real. Having a shot of the player stand there thinking before he throws "his final try" speaks volumes.  Well done.

    Thank you so much

@Ewoof this section of the forum is where threads go to “die”. I would repost in the Songs forum. I revisited your original thread. If it were me I would have edited the title to indicate that the full video was available. When a thread is “starred” I don’t revisit it unless the title suggests that something has changed.

Also, it doesn’t hurt to “engage” by reviewing others work.
Get it up in Songs and I’ll try to review and comment.
As to motivating the forum to “like, comment, and subscribe”.  I’ve long lobbied forum members to “give a brother a hand”, so far; not so much.

Hi sorry for not seeing this earlier. Also thank you for moving the forum.

  9. Hi guys,

I have been working on an EP for a while now. Everything was produced, recorded and mixed on Cakewalk. I am 95% done with it and hope to release it this coming January. I want to get peoples opinion and advice before I release it next month. I also released a single for this EP a couple of months ago called Feel. I will attach the music video if anybody wants to see.

    Here is the EP

    Here is the music video

Hope you guys like the EP.

  10. Hi,

Please I am going to release an 5 track EP in December. I generally mix for others but I feel like I have a bias when mixing my own music. I am wondering whether there are any professional mixing and mastering engineers in the forum. I am willing to pay and I hope to get a long term relationship with that engineer or engineers after this session. If interested please also send a link to any mixing or mastering works you have done.

    Thank you

sounds nice but very short at 37 seconds - is there more? i watched the video, did not get to hear the original post, which seems to be unavailable to me

This was just the teaser. The full video is coming soon. I needed to create a little hype for the video and also test the waters and estimate of how well the actual video might do numbers wise.

  12. Hi Guys,

Just released the trailer for my first music video. Recorded, Produced, Mixed and Mastered all on Cakewalk.  I am going to release it soon and would need as much support as I can get. A like, comment or subscription would go a long way. Thank you.

  13. Hey guys,

I'm currently making a music video and an ep and hoping to release it this fall.  I would like to know your experience with marketing a song or an album. What advice would you give starting out? Hope to hear from you guys.

Very cool and experimental sounding. I agree with Wookie about the piano. EQ wise it could mesh better with the vocals. I think a little silence at the beginning before the song starts is also in order. Very creative , I Really enjoyed it ..  mark

    Thank's for the advice
